I am quoting from the wisdom of someone called Rick on here....The perfection is in the life of Jesus Christ.
We are changed into His image if we abide in Him.
This is not a quick thing.....it takes years.
This is the patience of the saints.
Who learn to continually rely on Him for their spiritual sustenance.
If we were already made perfect we would no longer rely on Him.
We are being conformed to His image. This is sanctification - (I Cor. 1:30), and it's a life long process.

I totally agree although may I say we can only abide in Christ as long as He abides in us...He is the vine and we are the branches..it is the vine that holds the branches on and not the other way around

Perfection doesn't take forever beloved. To be perfect, simply love your neighbor as yourself.

Yeah I agree, you can't be perfect, it's impossible, but Christianity is all about thriving for perfection and attempting to accomplish it.

There is no true Agape love to be found outside the Life of Christ.
He IS the only one who is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Who has lived in time(as we). And made sacrifice for our shortcomings.
Thus how God made His perfection available.
It is not a simple thing.

I am qouting from a wiser Man God!.......
2 Tim 3:17....That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
1 John 2:5.... But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
Is this part of the Word these people KEEP?... Mat 5:48.. Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
What about this... Eph 4:13.....Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Please notice that these people ARE ALREADY PERFECT AND IN THE "A PERFECT MAN"! Also notice...THAT THEY HENCEFORTH BE NOT TOSSED TO AND FROM FROM FALSE TEACHINGS!!!! They do not get tossed about by what MOST "Christians" say.... Nobody is perfect, and all the other lies that flies around....! Jesus is the FIRST, and after HIM ARE MANY PERFECT CHILDREN OF GOD, Why? Because God saved them to HIS WILL!

The last verse from the WISE GOD.... 1 John 3:9... Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Not a single Child of God AFTER Jesus, continued in their sin, because GOD GAVE THEM REBIRTH (BORN OF HIMSELF)!

Again perfection comes from love! And that, to love your neighbor as yourself.

When will we understand that God shows no respect for persons. The sun shines on ALL, whether good or bad. Likewise His judgement as death does not discriminate. He is perfect!

How are you going to love your neighbor without first being empowered by God to do so?
You keep quoting the second great commandment while overlooking the first.
Don't you see you can't love your neighbor as yourself without God's Spirit residing in you?
The greatest part of true love is leading others to Christ.
How can you do that unless His Spirit resides in you?

True love isn't in the sacrifice of your own works, true love is in Jesus Christ.
You can feed the world, clothe the world, teach the world to take care of themselves, give everyone in
the world jobs.
But without leading them to the Son of God, (to the saving of their eternal souls);
you are nothing more than a tinkling brass and a sounding symbol!

Your pragmatist gospel of 'just be good to others in this life' falls way short of the mark.

If you need the power of God to love your neighbor UPON WHICH YOU CAN SEE, how can you love a God NO MAN HAS SEEN? Again, TO LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR as yourself is the fulfillment of the law. Because we CANNOT SEE GOD, we display our love for Him by HOW WE TREAT THE MEN WE DO SEE.

Do you lead to Christ? How so if the Man you're "leading" others to stated that NO MAN CAN COME UNTO HIM UNLESS THE FATHER DRAWS him? We have not the power to add one day to our own lives. We are His WITNESSES.

True love is to lay YOUR life down for the brethren!

To add to my point, it's LOVE that covers a MULTITUDE of sins! What does that mean?

What is the difference between a gay man and a straight man?
WITHOUT love, one can only see "gay and straight", and division by appearance.
But in love, THERE IS NO GAY OR STRAIGHT. They are ONE.

Hi Caroline! (my baby girl has that name...I love it!)
You are correct, to my way of thinking, in that it is the Vine which supports and gives life to us, the branches.
And since the gifts of God are irrevocable (salvation being chiefest of them) and all His promises are Yes!, I think it's safe to conclude that He will abide in us...forever. ♥

I love what you say here about sanctification. I am not so surprised to find so few grasp that.
I was among them when I was young, too. :)

This statement came from a man of God just shortly before he passed on. He had been in the ministry for almost (50) years and had much fruit. This is what he said at a banquet, sitting down because of the weakness in his legs...

'God is making us become what He has already made us to be.' That meant so much to me in revealing God's faithfulness to all those He has redeemed through His Son. To me God is with continuous action sanctifying us through the cross, the word and the Spirit to become what He has already made us to be through the new birth and through the justification we have through Christ and the grace of His shed blood. We will always be in Christ and in that place we are being conformed into His image as He is being formed in us. Think about that and see if the Holy Spirit will minister something very special to your spirit in edification of the truth.

From lead post: "I say we can only abide in Christ as long as He abides in us.." On the contrary! While He does abide in us (for that is what makes us Born again, most do not truly abide in Him...they THINK they do, but the don't. Consider any "Christian" that would vote for someone that is pro homosexual, pro- abortion, etc., etc. One cannot vote against the morals of God and abide in Christ at the same time.

And the ONLY way to become perfect...is to, like Christ did, DIE TO SELF.

Beloved, is God a man or a Spirit? If I were to vote for one who is pro homosexual, does this mean Christ does not abide in me?

I know we all know the scripture on perfection so again I say to love all brings with it perfection.

How can one who is in Christ, where there is no male or female, still see division of "gay and straight"?

We must crucify ALL of the old man.

The whole point is we are separated from true holy love.
No one can come to the Father unless they believe on the ONE whom He has sent.
As for a God who we cannot see, I see Him all the time.
Through faith.
This pragmatist salvation of good works is but mere sophistry.
You cannot carry out the second great commandment until you realize(through faith in One unseen), the first!
The gospel isn't a handbook for living a good life.
It is the herald of good news to a lost world.
And the news isn't about getting along with each other, it's about saving lost souls from
eternal separation! That is True love, to impart God's Spirit to a lost soul!

Case in point, you say to look past what an earthly ruler believes, if their is no sexual identity in heaven, then we
should not discriminate here on earth(if we are heavenly minded).
How about ending life in the womb?
Are we to be so heavenly minded that we look past the lives of the innocent?
I noticed you left that correlation out in your philosophy.
Killing the innocent is wrong......and I don't think even you can justify that.

Again, I am "heavenly minded".

1. All power comes from God, correct?
2. No man can harm ANYONE unless this POWER (where does power come from?) was given from ABOVE.
3. It is God who kills!
4. In the truest sense of the word, no one is "good" but God. We are all born in iniquity.

That being said, with the body, I STILL serve the law of sin. Do I think abortion is wrong? Yes. Probably for the same reasons as you do. But with my mind, looking past the body of offenses, it is the operation of the Most High. If He kills, He then makes alive!

We need to repent of our sin. Some people work on that early in life. Others don’t.
