Ice rings are certainly not a reliable determinate for earth ages. There can often be a number of cooling and warming cycles within the period of a single year which renders the study of ice rings as a temporal measurement completely worthless. Yet, it is upon such theories that the scientific community rest their reputations and propagate some rather outlandish conclusions.
If an animal dies today and falls to the ground, it would be totally gone before the earth had time to cover it and make a fossil out of it.
the flood is the ONLY explanation of fossils being so numerous and global (yes, an animal dieing in a tar pit may be fossilized, But even this would be only if the pit hardened before the animal decomposed.
