[h=2]hyp·o·crite : a person who claims or pretends to have certain beliefs about what is right but who behaves in a way that disagrees with those beliefs.[/h]If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.

If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.

“Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.

You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said: “‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”

Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God?

You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

I believe this could be anyone of us. For no man is perfect. And i pray that wisdom can be brought to us all. I couldnt judge anyone on what the Lord has said. So before anyone speaks, look into yourself and see where any of this might apply. I know i have! Let us be encouraged and stop our Hypocrisy. In Jesus name i pray!

It has often been said that there are no conscious hypocrites. Everyone that is obviously a hypocrite in the eyes of others has his or her own rationalizations and self-justifications for why his or her acts are fair. No one wants to think of himself or herself as a hypocrite, so we don't, and we'll often go to great lengths to explain why our double-standard is a special case that makes sense from a specific point-of-view.

Your post is well said. I'm also glad the bible says so much about the evil of hypocrisy.

The Greek word for actor is hypocrite. Oh wait, we had one of those as President from 1981 through 1987.

John, even though i agree to what your saying, please lets not turn this into a political forum. I'm speaking on our belief as children of God. But again, I'm sure this may turn it's self into an opinionated forum that might become political....lol. Anyway, have at it. I can't stop people from voicing their opinions. I just pray that we receive wisdom and understanding.

If we notice, Jesus Christ is actually calling his disciples ( that includes the apostles) Hypocrites in Matthew &:5

Mt 7:5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

Because before he starts this serom on the mountain he see the multitudes and flee to the top of the mountain, away from the multitudes.

Mt 4:25 And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and [from] Decapolis, and [from] Jerusalem, and [from] Judaea, and [from] beyond Jordan.
Mt 5:1 . And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:

So i too believe it. I believe this could be anyone of us. For no man is perfect.
Good thread:)

Not only does no one want to think of himself/herself as a hypocrite, individuals who are willing to examine themselves for any fault, flaw, sin, wrong attitude, etc. are nearly impossible to find. Maybe somebody will listen to Biggie on this thread.

Yes i think so, but me tinks having pondered over this thread, that it is easier said than done, me tinks the best ting to do is, let bigons be bigons, put all past afflictons with brothers or sisters to bed in the arms of the lord, let jesus give all the hipacrits a big hug, and give them all a big hug too if you can,(mentaly or from the heart) (im trying to be gentle to all men now just :), , me thinks the hardest things to do is except for most beliefers, and the hardest ting to do is not except rebuke, its like an argument with a loved one, you need time to recover, you need time to reflect that you have been hiprocritical
A sister said to me yesterday true religion Is repentance, so that said in my own heart i can only pray people wll change there ways , because iF i look back and dwell on hiprocrtical statements i fall into the sea of hatred, me wants to forget and move on,

It is most definitely easier said than done. I started a thread about unanswered prayer and explained that very thing. I stated in the thread that God knows all so He might say, "no" or "later, when My timing is right", but that way too much of the time Christians say those things and do not look at what God requires of us when we pray. There were several replies that stated those excuses for unanswered prayer but apparently I didn't make the point very well that sometimes it could be ourselves that is causing God to not hear us. Many scriptures say He won't hear our prayers under certain conditions. People don't like to admit that God would refuse to answer our prayers, but in order for God to say, "no", He has to have heard a question. No one says "no" to a question they haven't heard.

Anyway, it is good to see you are willing to look at yourself and trying to clearly see what the mirror shows you.:)

Also, a "hello" to Mrs. Q!

Good thread. I am reminded of the scripture that says "you will know them by their fruits." Plural. But Spiritual fruit is written as singular. We all should contemplate that.

Matthew 7:16 (KJV)

[SUP]16 [/SUP]Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)
[SUP]22 [/SUP]But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
[SUP]23 [/SUP]Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

So many times we see wrong manifested in Christians, and despite it all, fail to address the wrongs that we see. If we bypass those things, we are seen as loving, therefore fulling the law. If we address those things, we are told not to judge others and are given this scripture to impact the point.

Matthew 7:1 (KJV)
[SUP]1 [/SUP]Judge not, that ye be not judged. (condemn)

If we do this verse, we can see beyond the mask of deception, and then the hypocrite get's bent out of shape, and says something like "you are really being hypocritical." How Ironic!

John 7:24 (KJV)
[SUP]24 [/SUP]Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

It seems like a lose lose situation, but through praying for ourselves and studying the Word first, and then praying for others, we will be instructed by the Word on how to act, and what to say or not to say, because of what we see Spiritually.

Romans 12:18-19 (KJV)
[SUP]18 [/SUP]If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

The first judging that we must do, is to see ourselves the way the Word of God shows ourselves to ourselves. I suppose it's a natural instinct of survival that makes us not want to see who we really are in the sight of God. Yet it doesn't take a rational mind long to see the carnal thoughts that all Christians are battling against within themselves. True believes have this battle. Pretenders don't.
James 1:23-24 (KJV)
[SUP]23 [/SUP]For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
[SUP]24 [/SUP]For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

1 Corinthians 11:32 (KJV)
[SUP]32 [/SUP]But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

I have often thought of my self as a Hypocrite, I know and see the many faults Inside myself every day. which is why I do not judge others for their sins because odd's are whatever their sins are I have either done them before or am doing it now. So yes, daily I am haunted by my being a hypocrite. So what do we do then? do we morn for being a hypocrite? do we judge others to make ourselves feel better? No, as my motto we keep moving forward. daily bettering ourselves so that we will eventually not be hypocrites and will have a pure and good heart. then we can teach others to overcome their being hypocrites by lovingly teaching and guiding

We can try, and God will approve. Jesus reproved and was crucified. Luke 23:31 (KJV)
[SUP]31 [/SUP]For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
