Have you ever mistaken voices of criticism of yourself for the voice of God pointing out your weaknesses?

My friend, I want you to know right now that that critical, judgmental and condemning voice is not God’s voice! God isn’t a faultfinder who lives in you by His Spirit to highlight and nag all day long about your imperfections. No, He is in you to encourage you, strengthen you, love you and point out all the things that are right about you because you are in Christ Jesus, the altogether lovely one. As Jesus is, so are you in this world (1 John 4:17)!

The one who condemns and makes you feel filthy and unworthy of God’s love and blessings is the devil, the accuser of our brethren (Revelation 12:10). But the warm, friendly voice on the inside that lifts you up and cheers you on when you are discouraged and downcast is that of the Holy Spirit. That’s why Jesus described Him as the “Comforter” or “Helper” (John 14:26, KJV, NKJV). He’s in you to comfort you, encourage you, and remind you that you are still the righteousness of God in Christ. He is there to lift you up and help you!

So beloved, learn to listen for the warm, friendly voice of the Holy Spirit your helper. Let Him encourage, strengthen and empower you to reign over all your weaknesses!

If you want to see how people can only "see" or "hear" what they have been taught. Go see the thread; "Speaking with Tongues".

There are those that say there are no more tongues for today and they have their scriptures which to them prove they have ceased. ( of course the logical conclusion is those people speaking in tongues are denying Christ..they are deceived..etc )

This is exactly the same here for us that say that Christ is everything, It is by His grace alone that we start the Christian life and by His grace alone we walk that life out. It isby faith alone in His finished work on our behalf that our new life in Him is manifested so that we can love others, but it is His fruit!

Absolutely. And in that truth, and the power that comes from the truth is much victory over sin
You are not left in a state where you cannot to do the good you want to do , but only the evil you do not want to do you do

The one who condemns and makes you feel filthy and unworthy of God’s love and blessings is the devil
“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”
Isaiah 6:5

I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside.
Rev 5:4

By your ideas conviction of sin is of the devil. That is oversimplification.

As sinners we are worthy to enter the presence of the Lord except by the blood of the Lamb.
The accuser wants to bring us down in front of the Father, but Jesus redeems us.

It is still the work of God to discipline His children, to convict of sin and help to bring us to repentance.
Jonahs ministry was to preach judgement for sin to Nineveh. Revelations letter to the churches was again about sin and the need to get things right.

You are 100% in error to go so extreme.

If anything the devil is happy when you sin and wants you to take it lightly and continue to follow fleshly desires.
But that is irrelevent. What you are doing is 100% undermining the work of the conscience. We are called to walk in love but if you cannot do this, then rightly you should feel condemned. The Lord never encourages sin, but encourages the repentant sinner turning from their sin to walk in Gods ways.

What you are describing is again undermining the work of sanctification in a persons life. Worse still you are taking the work of the Holy Spirit and calling it a work of the devil. Not a good idea on any score, if not close to a sin against the Spirit himself. You should therefore tread very carefully on the subject of righteousness and sin because these concepts are the foundation of Gods holiness and grace.

Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

Peter.....this is written for believers....not to people that need to believe in Christ.

We always think..sin, sin, sin. We are so sin conscious.

The gospel of the grace of Christ teaches us to deny sin and to live godly in this present world. I know I need to tell you that every time we discuss things. SO, again..sin is bad!In our new nature we do not want to sin! We are against sin! Sin will destroy you. Walk according to the spirit ( our new nature ) will put to death the deeds of the flesh.

self-performance ( sin conscious mindset ) = " do not sin and we will not condemn you"

grace-based ( Christ -conscious mindset ) = "I do not condemn you, go and sin no more"

God is not sin-conscious like us evangelicals. He is Christ-conscious. Jesus blood has dealt with sin. Let's believe in Him and what He has done for us in His finished work.

In knowing that you have no condemnation in Christ - Acceptance grace = it releases you to know who you are in Christ and thus this allows His life to manifest in us, to walk out who we are in Him because of His righteousness in us = empowerment grace.

We need acceptance grace first to be established in empowerment grace.

Romans 8:1-2 (NASB)
[SUP]1 [/SUP] Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
[SUP]2 [/SUP] For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.

( see..it's the law of the Spirit of life in Christ that sets us free from sin ... )
Every voice that condemns a believer now is not from God ( because of Christ and who we are in Him )

Isaiah 54:14-15 (KJV)
[SUP]14 [/SUP] In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.
[SUP]15 [/SUP] Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.

Isaiah 54:17 is God speaking to the believer in Christ after chapter 53 where Christ dies for us on the cross. Here is what our loving Father says to us.

Isaiah 54:17 (NASB)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] "No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; And every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness is from Me," declares the LORD.

Every tongue that accuses us in judgment will be condemned. Why is this?
He is our righteousness! Let's walk in His truth and freedom that is in Christ and not deny the great work our Lord has done for us in His finished work.

The sin in a believers life will drop off like leaves as we abide/remain in Him and it's His life in us that produces the good "fruit" of His righteousness.

“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”

Read again. Everyone who receives salvation in Jesus Christ is no longer a slave to sin, but is set free. Free indeed---which is my admittance, here!

It is by your admittance that you know not the scriptures.

Didn't Paul say in Romans 7 that he at that point was carnal sold under sin ???

Yes he did, and then in Romans 8 showed for there to be no more condemnation he could not continue that way.

He had to in Christ walk by the Spirit, for walking by the flesh is still enmity to God.

I am not sin conscious in the way you think. I am conscious of the mistakes I make when convicted but my focus is on what I am doing day to day and walking in the spirit. The idea we deny sin, is a typical failure where the focus is on not doing something, which always fails because all your focus is on the thing desiring not to be done.

Rather the focus should be on things we need to achieve and do. One approach I have found that works is to identify a need and work to meet it. The joy is in the Lord meeting it, not questioning motivation or analysing the why but doing the thing before you. I have found life is simply too complex to analyse but to just walk.

You talk about grace and not good works which is actually our focus. The two greatest commands, love the Lord with all you are and love your neighbour as yourself. These are positive involvements. In walking in these things in the Lord we find communion with the Lord.

I need no excuse. I understand Romans 7 and 8.

Not unless you do gymnastics with what is written.
After Paul states he is sold as a slave to sin, he goes on to say he cannot do the good he wants to do, but rather the evil he does not want to do, what he hates to do hd keeps doing.

A perfect example of someone who is a slave to sin.

If you understand romans 7 what un your view does verse 5 mean?

For when we were controlled by the sinful nature, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in our bodies so that we bore fruit for death

The person in verses 14-25 was certainly controlled by their sinful nature.

But why did Paul say sinful passions are aroused in us by the law if we live under it?

Sinful passions of carnality (anything contrary to God's way and will), are aroused in us when we walk according to the flesh and not the Spirit. Hence why we are exhorted to bring all thoughts into subjection under Christ and test what we hear whether from spirits or man to ascertain if it is indeed from God.

Paul was transposing the power of the law with the power of the freedom found in Jesus Christ.

That doesn't explain why sinful passions are aroused in people by the law if they live under it

Yes, it does. When people live by the law, and deny Jesus Christ, they do not have the power of the Holy Spirit dwelling within them to overcome sin.

The word tells us that the strength of sin is the law.

1 Corinthians 15:56-57
For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. [SUP]57 [/SUP]But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.

No one will experience justification with God by living according to the law.

Galatians 5:4
For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.

Yes, the law gives sin its power.

But WHY exactly are sinful passions aroused in us by the law if we live under it? What's the reason?
