and He isnt understood by logic or reasoning but when we are drawn by the Holy Spirit and acknowledge Him, then He opens up to us..

Lots of people want Him to "make sense" in the mind.. He is spiritual and the mind won't understand by itself
He most certainly is understood logically and reasonably.

Romans 1:19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

It's not that they cannot believe in God it's that they do not desire to believe in God. They do not like the God of the bible and prefer to believe in a god of their own creation.

One day God gives them over to the reprobate heart and then they no longer have a conscience that can be stirred to come to Christ. Hardness of heart and a seared conscience are the final stages from which there is no return only certain judgment.

Sorry brother. I think the reverse is true. FIRST they need to be born again, and THEN the Holy Spirit will not only reveal sin in their life that needs to be turned from, but actively work to transform that person to the likeness of Jesus. How can they, or we, turn from sin without Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit in the NEW life?

A dead person really can't be or do anything but be dead until they are given NEW life and are made a NEW creation. We weren't spiritually sick or injured, WE WERE DEAD!

Ephesians 2New King James Version (NKJV)

By Grace Through Faith

2 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

So we need to present the Gospel to them, show them love, and pray they will accept it.

Agree. I've heard it put this way; we can't be of the mindset we need to take a good bath before we can even consider taking a bigger and better bath from God. That is just not going to work and many people will be stymied before they ever even try to take a step. Soooo great will their condemnation be.

That is why while we were yet sinners Christ died for us., and why Jesus came not into the world to condemn the world but that the world through "HIM" (and Him alone) could be saved. It's the love of God that draws men and women and children in. Knowing we are helpless to do anything for ourselves. That's why children come faster because they don't try to reason out being taken care of.

I like dealing with specifics.. I try to ask them for anything they disagree with and try and explain thaty thing in a way that will bring them to realize their onjection is not valid.. So one has to sometimes do some hard digging to find out what teaching or message or action of God that the person is having problems with.. If you can nail down the root of their objection you can deal with those issues one point at a time.. But if people are just too vague about there objection then it is very hard to respond to them.. It is hard to remove a house in one go.. But it is easy to do it one brick at a time..

ah,,,but the ones I know of, would not let you tear down the whole house but rather keep this and that room while tearing down other rooms in between. You can see what a tangled mess it makes.....If they will not let God Help them or een simply listen to the Word of God, then all you can do is bow your head and pray for some miracle that will change their mind set.

Hello, dear brethren!

I talk several times with people regarding the existence of God, most of them atheists or agnostics. Many of them simply won´t listen and refuse to talk further about the subject, some of them being impolite and disrespectful some times.

However, I had a case were the person said: "I really want to believe in God and I would follow Christ if Christianity were true. Still, I can´t believe in God. It simply makes no sense. And I believe it would be unfair for me to go to Hell, because He would know I would not reject Him if I knew He existed."

To this, I responded that Jesus said: Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. (Matthew 7:7).

I also said that everyone finds the Lord if: You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13).

Still, there are people that keep stating that they would want to believe in God, but they can´t.

What is your opinion regarding this, brethren? Any advice about what to say?

Blessings!

Not to be rude or anything but.....Belief is a choice. Do or do not. There is no try. Yoda....LOL

It is important to note here that the guy WANTS TO BELIEVE. It looks like he is some kind of doubting Thomas - his heart wants to believe, but his brain is fighting it. I was just like him - I was willing to believe, but came to accept Jesus only after studying how the New Testament was put together.
