I led him to Christ, what should he do next?

Joh_6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43:12‬ ‭

“Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭44:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

And ye are witnesses of these things.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭24:44-48‬ ‭KJV‬‬

apparently the witness has a role in Gods Will

“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭24:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

when a Christian shares the gospel about Jesus they are partaking in Gods Will of turning people from dark to light

“And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, to open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭26:15-

The power to come tonjesus os the gospel when we hear and share the gospel with others it’s helping them turn to God from the world we of course aren’t the source but the witnesses of the source the witness of the gospel itself is the power of God to believers we just believe and share it share our faith

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭1:16-17‬ ‭

as we share the gospel people who don’t reject it but hear it as it’s valid begin receiving seeds of faith

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Gods way of calling us to Jesus is the invitation heard in the gospel for man to repent and become the children of God having been not condemned but forgiven and restored given as a gift eternal life and a kingdom

but we have to hear the word Jesus spoke about it all to ever receive it or understand it . The word redeems us but believers share that word with others.

From the start the gospels success depended on man hearing , bekieving and then going out and spreading the word to mothers who would hear , believe and then spread it to even others throughout the generations each generation has people who hear the gospel , believe the gospel d share the gospel with others

they don’t need to have thier own message or thier own charisma but they just share what’s always been there the word of Christ Jesus to all mankind and that word still loves and breathes in bekievers hearts and minds and is capable of illuminating our lives if we let it shine forth to others it can also infuence them to turn to the gospel and believe

Christ works through believers to call other believers …..a role For a believer

“And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; and that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2:24-26‬ ‭KJV‬

God does it but men share his word patiently with others is how his word gets into minds and hearts

It is more of a case of what YOU should do next? The scriptures do not tell us to go and make Christians. it tells us that we are to make disciples. So your job is to disciple him and make him a disciple.

I am looking for what we as Christians should do after we lead someone to Christ.

In the NT, conversion to Christianity is linked together with baptism and immediately follows. Our churches today ask that first, a convert must take a class to learn about the Lord they are accepting.
its ridicilous how they bully converts around in churches nowadays. these churches put on worldly music and other circus shows but wont baptize someone who confesses Jesus as lord until they jump thru hoops and send in the CV and do the job interview.

if i lead someone to the Lord i will baptize them myself immediately to avoid this tragedy taking place. dont let them tell you that you cant baptize because you didnt go to a useless seminary somewhere.
you are a priest of the most high just like every other believer.

after that he should partake of the Lord's supper and grow in grace and learning. studying the bible and not only studying it but doing as it says. its the second part that trips us up lol. i speak for myself when i say i know too much and do too little.

Accepting Christ is just the first of a wonderful journey.

It tells us in Ephesians 2:10 that God has created a new work in him to do good works. “ For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
The Holy Ghost is amazingly good at follow up, after all He brought the guy to you in the first place. Just be sensitive to the Lord. Often I think let go and let God is the right policy.

We see Phillip bearing witness to the Ethiopian eunuch and we have no record that Peter followed up with Cornelius. How often Jesus says "go thy way thy faith hath saved thee ... made thee whole"

I'm sure each case is different. ... some folks might need physical help or financial support.

Spurgeon was saved in a primitive methodist chapel but never went back to it, instead he joined the baptists.

One day I witnessed to a tourist girl and she got beautifully saved just as her group leader was urgently herding them all into a bus ... I shouted what instructions I could through the window, since she was from Norway with good but limited english there was a good deal of sign language.

Do you sell your artwork?
No, and in fact I am not allowed to, because many of the items I use in the collages are sourced from sites that stipulate, personal use/projects only and no financial gain type of thing. The files are provided by others for free use to anyone who wants them for whatever as long as no money is gained from the use of them. I am fine with that :) I have over 11,000 items on my computer for the making of these panels, and probably the majority of them come from such sources. Of course at this point after four years of collecting I have no way of knowing where many of any single item came from, but it doesn't matter either, because they are designed for sharing here :D

point him to the gospel and tell him it’s the lords word the word of his eternal judge

“For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:22, 24‬ ‭

After that point to him deeper into the word

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:31-32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

if someone believes this

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭

point then to more of what he said that calls then closer to him In Repentance and obedience

“And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: he is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:46-49‬ ‭

Eventually thier faith will sound like this

“Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
‭‭James‬ ‭1:21-22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

That way he won’t think “ I said I believe so I’m saved no matter what I do “ instead his faith will be created by hearing and believing the gospel the things God said are true of salvstion and he will grow up into the word d not away from the word
Sorry I cant copy and paste from a cell phone, dont forget philip and the eunich in the book of Acts.... (And they that gladly recieved his word were baptised.)

I led him to Christ, what should he do next?
Hello Blik, though witnessing is extremely important and should not be restricted, and it typically comes pretty naturally to a new believer (particularly when they have been saved from very sinful lives), I believe that a new believer's principal ministry is to sit at the Lord's feet and learn from Him (so that is what I think you should tell him to do next).

Luke 10
38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, He came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to Him.
39 She had a sister called Mary who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what He said.
40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made, so she came to Him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things,
42 but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better and it will not be taken away from her.”

I would also make sure that he understands how important the teaching and fellowship of a local church body are, ESPECIALLY in the case of a new believer.

God bless you!

~Deut
p.s. - you might also suggest that he listen to and/or read this online (free) 4-part teaching series called,
Spiritual Boot Camp. This series takes a close AND practical look at four of our most important Christian spiritual disciplines and it teaches us the best ways to apply them to our Christian walk.

Whoops, I ran out of editing time above. I wanted to add that the four spiritual disciplines that Dr. John MacArthur discusses in Spiritual Boot Camp are as follows:

1. How to Study the Scriptures
2. How to Pray
3. How to Function in the Body (fellowship)
4. How to Witness

It is more of a case of what YOU should do next? The scriptures do not tell us to go and make Christians. it tells us that we are to make disciples. So your job is to disciple him and make him a disciple.
Christians are the disciples and before becoming one, there must first be an encounter with the risen Jesus. You make a disciple when you introduce someone to Christ and they believe and trust in Him. A disciple is simply one who follows Christ. The Holy Spirit draws people and God is the One, by His Spirit, who continues the work of keeping that 'disciple'.

We cannot create a disciple. We can only witness for Christ and see a person accept Him and at that moment, they become a disciple. The word discipling indicates teaching, but an actual disciple, again, can only be made by the Holy Spirit as we cannot convert someone but to the point of their own decision to accept Christ.

what is a disciple?

Jesus commissions us to “go” — because of his authority — “and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19–20).

This raises a fundamental question, though — one that even takes priority over the how-to’s of discipleship. What does it actually mean to be a “disciple” of Jesus? If we are going to make disciples, we need to know what that is.

“A disciple of Jesus is a worshiper, a servant, and a witness.”
The standard definition of “disciple” (noun) is someone who adheres to the teachings of another. It is a follower or a learner. It refers to someone who takes up the ways of someone else. Applied to Jesus, a disciple is someone who learns from him to live like him — someone who, because of God’s awakening grace, conforms his or her words and ways to the words and ways of Jesus. Or, you might say, as others have put it in the past, disciples of Jesus are themselves “little Christs” (Acts 26:28; 2 Corinthians 1:21).

Blik has indicated she is asking a general question and not specifics about a person who has just become a believer.

Thanks to all who ave responded. I think that for most of us, it is Christ who led us to witness at a certain time and place, usually to people we meet casually and never see again.
It is Christ that leads us to witness, and we must listen to Christ and trust him with the results.

not really in my opinion it’s blick asking what does someone who has turned to Christ initially , what do they do now ?

the way I took it was what’s next now that this guy turned towards Christ ?

does t seem to steal any glory from God . It’s just acknowledging that there’s more to living a Christian life than just saying “I believe “
