One of the things I hear Christians tell me is that they are struggling or fighting with certain issues. They are at war with the world or they are fighting with sin. They say, "I am struggling with my family;" or "there are so many things wrong where I work,"
People want self control or they struggle with patience. They struggle with anger problems or with lust. You could say, what I hear is wars or rumors of wars. They are trying to do battle with Satan or with spiritual forces. IF you are struggling or battling or at war you are certainly missing out on the peace of God.
When I hear these things from people I know, I have only one answer; surrender.
Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
1 Corinthians 15:57
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 John 5:4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.
Matthew 16:25 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.
Isaiah 66:2 Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?” declares the Lord. “These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word.
Psalm 51:17 My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.
IF any of you find yourself struggling with anything, it is because you are putting the cart before the horse. The power we need to obey God can only come from God. We can not be victorious until we surrender. I find this true with so many things of God. I had no self control until I surrendered all control to God. After surrendering all control to God I received more control than words can convey. The only Love I have is the love I give away. The only things from this life that we will bring with us to eternity is everything we give away. The things of God are paradoxical to the things of this world.
As it is written, the wisdom of God is foolishness to men.
Do any of you have thoughts on this or care to share ways you practice surrendering to God?
