you are so right crossnote on bringing that up. Now what was the test of a prophet in the old testament then compare it to this description that Jesus gives in the new. Now if the old testament is the new testament hidden and the new testament is the old revealed what is their to prophesy? Why would a prophet have to bear fruit. So who is Jesus speaking about?.........us. Did you ever consider that from the book of acts till revelation and till the present day there has been no prophet sent to a church saying thus says the Lord. We are the ones with the end time message. We may call it teaching we may call it preaching but as for things to come and not yet seen...what's that? John wrote the letters to the churches, Peter, Paul, James etc wrote and instructed the church, also warned them of things to take place. Jesus fulfilled the law of the prophets and is the author and finisher of our faith. What's left? We carrier the mantle of the prophets.
I don't see it that way, but to go into an explanation will only push us further off topic. I'll only remind you of the two witnesses/prophets on earth AFTER the Church is gone resuming the message of the Kingdom as 144000 Jews are gathered in etc.
Anyways, my first response still stands...By God's grace I'll tell them, "Jesus is my Lord and Savior".
Matthew 10:32-33 (KJV)
32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
