It’s against the law in the state I reside in to pick up a deadly snake as part of a religious service. I would point out to whoever is commanding me that it’s illegal and that Christians are to obey civil government authority when possible.

If I were traveling outside the state, and not in a state or country which has made the act illegal, I would simply decline to obey the command. There’s no law I’m aware of anywhere on God’s good earth that requires Christians and/or non-Christians to pick up deadly snakes.
Right! You explained it well!

IF ORDERED TO PICK UP A DEADLY SNAKE, SHOULD ONE COMPLY WITH THIS COMMAND?
Mark 16:18
18.They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
KJV
My comment: No, I don't believe so, judging by Jesus' reply to the devil, when the devil told Him to jump off a dangerously tall building;
Matt 4:6-7
6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
KJV
Mat 4:5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
Mat 4:6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Mat 4:7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

This means do not put yourself in a dangerous position on purpose and then say God save me.

So we do not pick up poisonous snakes on purpose and say no harm will come to us, for then God is not obligated to save us.

If something happens by accident God will save us.

Right! And if something happens by accident or by crime against us, sometimes, God miraculously rescues us. Other times, He allows us to suffer bodily damage. But we can still rejoice, as we have an eternal home in heaven, and heaven is the best place to live.

Matt 10:28

28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
KJV
