I've grown up as a pastor's child and my dad was always telling people to try to read the Bible in a year or less. they would do it and come back and it just seemed like earning a patch in boy scouts. Like you get kudos for God for reading the whole Bible. Not to say reading the whole Bible is bad, but I feel sometimes trying to read the Bible so fast causes us to lose focus of the Bible. What good is it if you read the whole Bible and are not changed at all. Also reading something like a Bible in a year tends to cause people to lose the meaning of the Bible. I hope this makes sense:)

of course its not like their imaginary or something. why do you ask?
Really it was just a joke because you dont believe in apostles or prophets, so maybe none of the 5 fold ministries are real

oh I'm sorry I thought you were asking a real question. My thing with apostles are they have to have seen Christ- 1 Corinthians 9:1 Am I not as free as anyone else? Am I not an apostle? Haven’t I seen Jesus our Lord with my own eyes? Isn’t it because of my work that you belong to the Lord? I don't dismiss all the ministries just the ones that the Bible has said exists. Some spiritual gifts aren't needed today which is why they have ceased.

It shouldn’t take a year to read the Bible, should it, and we should all read the Bible, shouldn’t we?

"I'm not a fan of read the Bible in a Year"

lol I'm a fan of read the Bible in 40 days and then every day for at least an hour a day then spend another hour in prayer and heart felt supplication to God and listening to His answers about the world, your life and the Bible :) plan myself ;)

question: how much time do you spend taking a bath and brushing your teeth, daily?

if you spend that much time taking care of your physical body, should you spend at least that much taking care of your Spiritual body and health?

sorry I haven't the time right now to read the rest of the thread and but I still think you are a child of God even if you don't agree with me about the offices of the church ;) as long as you Have the Holy Spirit testifying you are a child of God I would be a hyprocrite to deny His witness ;)

It depends on the reading speed of the person, I could read it in a month, but others would take a lot longer too read it. But I prefer a 2 year reading plan because it allows you to slow down and really savor over each book, and I also have more books of the Bible to read so it helps to have more time. :D

Yah we should all read it, but the goal isn't to see how quickly you can read it, but that you really understand the point of it. Not just so you can say you read it.

lol yes we will if we walk in the flesh and not the Spirit God has given us ;) through the grace of God it is a miracle that such a diverse group of people are able to function at all together ;)

I read that if you study the scriptures seriously and immerse yourself in its teachings, then you will have the word of God in you and around you. And its is like being in a strong tower. It means we get to know God more personally and then he is a strong tower against the flesh and against our enemies..

Psalm 61:3
For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.
