The very first verse of the first chapter of Genesis doesn't waste words with
an argument to convince skeptic minds that a supreme being exists; rather,
it starts off by candidly alleging that the existence of the cosmos is due to
intelligent design. I mean: if the complexity of the cosmos-- its extent, its
objects, and all of its forms of life, matter, and energy --isn't enough to
convince the critics; then they're pretty much beyond reach.

The creation story wasn't written for the academic community anyway, nor
was it written for people who indulge in debating and perpetual bull sessions
that never get to the bottom of anything, nor for people who regard Genesis
as just another chapter of "Pride And Prejudice" to dissect in a Jane Austen
book club; rather, the creation story was written for the religious
community.

"By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so
that what is seen was not made out of what was visible." (Heb 11:3)

Galileo believed that science and religion are allies rather than enemies--
two different languages telling the same story. He believed that science and
religion complement each other-- science answers questions that religion
doesn't bother to answer, and religion answers questions that science cannot
answer.

For example: theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking understood pretty well
how the cosmos works; but could never scientifically explain why it should
exist at all. Well; in my estimation, the only possible answer to the "why" is
found in intelligent design; which is a religious explanation rather than
scientific. Religion's "why" is satisfactory for most folks. No doubt most
scientists would prefer something a bit more empirical.

Science has been chasing its tail, and pursuing a carrot on the end of a stick,
ever since the 200 inch Palomar telescope was conceived back in the first
half of the 20th century. Astronomer George Ellery Hale envisioned his
monster optic would see all the way to the far side of the universe. Instead it
only saw more universe. And then the Hubble, a.k.a. HST. It too has only
managed to see more universe. Lately the same hopes are in the James
Webb, a.k.a. JWST. But thus far, it too has only seen more universe: same-o,
same-o, same-o.

Gen 1:27 . .God created man in His own image, in the image of God
created He him; male and female created He them.

As far as can be known from scripture, Man is the only specie that God
created in His own image, viz: a fellow being blessed with immortality. The
animal kingdom was given nothing like it.

That being the case, then I think it's safe to assume that death was common
all around Adam by means of vegetation, birds, bugs, and beasts so that it
wasn't a strange new word in his vocabulary; i.e. God didn't have to take a
moment and define death for the man seeing as how it was doubtless a
common occurrence in Adam's everyday life.

He saw grasses spout. He saw them grow to maturity, bloom with flowers,
and produce seeds. He watched as they withered, became dry and brittle,
and then dissolve into nothing. Adam likely encountered fallen birds, and the
remains of animals dead on the ground like road kill. The animal kingdom's
mortality was doubtless at least one of the reasons why God created them in
swarms rather than solo specimens, i.e. so as to prevent them from going
extinct from die-off. In other words: the animal kingdom was expected to
lose numbers of its kind, whereas the man-- under normal circumstances --
wasn't expected to lose any numbers of his kind.

So I think we can be reasonably confident that the man was up to speed on
at least the natural aspects of death and fully understood that if he went
ahead and tasted the forbidden fruit that his body would lose its perpetual
youth and end up no more permanent than a grasshopper.
_
What makes you believe that death of anything, animal, vegetation, etc., was a reality prior to
Adam and Eve's disobedience?

I can prove all this from the word of God if you are willing to be open minded and look at the word of God and not church doctrine.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

When was the beginning? If you want to call history, science, and God a lair you will say the earth is about 6,000 years old.

A look at history and science

Oil Formation-Energy Education

Oil or petroleum is a readily combustable fossil fuel that is composed mainly of carbon and hydrogen, and is thus known as a hydrocarbon.[1] The formation of oil takes a significant amount of time with oil beginning to form millions of years ago. 70% of oil deposits existing today were formed in the Mesozoic age (252 to 66 million years ago), 20% were formed in the Cenozoic age (65 million years ago), and only 10% were formed in the Paleozoic age (541 to 252 million years ago). This is likely because the Mesozoic age was marked by a tropical climate, with large amounts of plankton in the ocean.[2]

The formation of oil begins in warm, shallow oceans that were present on the Earth millions of years ago. In these oceans, extremely small dead organic matter - classified as plankton - falls to the floor of the ocean. This plankton consists of animals, called zooplankton, or plants, called phytoplankton. This material then lands on the ocean floor and mixes with inorganic material that enters the ocean by rivers. It is this sediment on the ocean floor that then forms oil over many years. The energy in oil initially comes from the Sun, and is energy from sunlight that is trapped in chemical form by dead plankton.[3] The process that creates oil is generally the same in most areas, although there may be different types of plant and animal debris that falls to the ocean floor and slightly different conditions. To form oil, the following steps have to happen:

1. Dead plankton - both phytoplankton and zooplankton - as well as algae and bacteria sink to the bottom of an ancient ocean and mix with inorganic, clay-like materials that enter these oceans from streams and rivers. This creates an organic-rich mud. This mud can only form in still water environments. This step is shown in Figure 1, panel A.

2. This mud cannot be exposed to too much oxygen, or else the organic matter in the mud would be decomposed by bacteria and disappear quickly. Therefore environments where oil can form are known as anoxic environments. Before this organic matter is destroyed, it is buried by more sediment and lithifies (becomes sedimentary rock), creating organic shale. This step is shown in Figure 1, panel B. Burying material underwater is an easy way to create an anoxic environment because the atmosphere is not interacting with the decaying matter.

3. If this shale is buried between 2 and 4 kilometers, its temperature increases due to its location in the Earths interior. This increasing pressure and temperature of the shale transforms it into a waxy material known as kerogen. Shale that contains this material is known as oil shale.

4. If temperatures of the kerogen are greater than 90°C but lower than 160°C, the kerogen is transformed into oil and natural gas. At temperatures higher than this, only natural gas (literally a gas that's a hydrocarbon) or graphite is formed. This temperature range is known as the "oil window".

5. Oil is lighter than water, so as it escapes from the source oil shale it rises through pores in rocks, displacing water. Rock bodies that contain significant amounts of oil are known as reservoir rocks. For the oil to remain trapped in the reservoir, there must be some sort of thick, impermiable layer of rock to seal the reservoir. If this seal exists, then oil, gas, and water are trapped beneath and can be drilled into to obtain the oil.[6]

6. Geological changes in the Earth's crust bring these deposits up closer to the surface, making them somewhat easier to access.

The light reflected in the James Webb Space Telescope image has been traveling for about 13.5 billion years, Nelson said. The universe is about 13.8 billion years old. "We're going back almost to the beginning," Nelson said of the universe. Zooming in on the image, reveal new details in every pixel.

Consider what the word actually says. Death entered the world through Adam's sin. As such death did not exist prior to that time:

"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" Rom. 5:12

"For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive." 1 Cor. 15:21

In The Beginning.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Period. End of the story. God created the heaven and the earth. There was a period of time that passed between verses 1 and 2.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. He created it, and it was perfect. Our earth was at one time a plush and beautiful planet with no pollution or evil. Dinosaurs roamed our earth in its younger days and The sons of God all shouted for joy!

Job 38:1-7

Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

2Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?

3Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.

4Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

5Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?

6Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;

7When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Job 40:15-24: Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.

16Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.

17He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.

18His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.

19He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.

20Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.

21He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.

22The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.

23Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.

24He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.

You tell me what you thank this is, and have you ever seen one. There should have been 2 of them on the Ark if they were alive then.

Scientists estimate our earth to be about 4.6 billion years old. The bible does not say WHEN God created the earth, but we do know that our earth is millions of years old because of the fossils and remains, such as the dinosaurs of prehistoric times, which have been found and documented. It is probably safe to sat that when He created the earth that then was, it was a very long time ago!

2nd Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. Time mean nothing to God. Even though you can not see God, through faith and by studying His word, we can discover some of the mysteries of our world!

Something happened which caused that first world age to end, and, for this age, which we now live in, to begin. What or “WHO” could have caused such destruction.

Isaiah 45:18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; He hath established it, He created it not in vain, He formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.

Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

2nd Peter 3:3-7 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,4And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 5For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6.Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 7But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Verse 6: You just might be saying that was Noah's flood. Lets see what Gods word has to say about that.

Genesis 7:2-5 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.3Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.4For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.5And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him.

Verse 16. And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in. All flesh that included the other races other than Noah and his family for Noah and His family were perfect in there generations.

Jeremiah 4:25 English Standard Version
I looked, and behold, there was no man, and all the birds of the air had fled.
Berean Study Bible
I looked, and no man was left; all the birds of the air had fled.
King James Bible
I beheld, and, lo,there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.

This is describing the end of the first earth age. That which ended at the end of Genesis 1:1. This in Jeremiah could not be the flood of Noah because there were people, birds, cattle ect. both clean and unclean animals on the ark.

Genesis 8:11 And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.

There was life left on earth after the flood or the Dove could not have brought back part of the olive tree.
Fossils are not millions of years old.

"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and

5:12

"For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the
dead. For as in Adam everything dies, even so in Christ shall everything be
made alive." 1 Cor. 15:21
_
The first physical death of an animal in the bible is referenced in Genesis 3:21. God provides skins as coverings for Adam and Eve after the fall. The fall introduced the curse on man as well as on all creation as seen in Romans: "For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now." (8:22)

Romans 8:17-25
1.) That there is a present vanity to which the creature, by reason of the sin of man, is made subject, v. 20. When man sinned, the ground was cursed for man's sake, and with it all the creatures (especially of this lower world, where our acquaintance lies) became subject to that curse, became mutable and mortal. Under the bondage of corruption, v. 21. There is an impurity, deformity, and infirmity, which the creature has contracted by the fall of man: the creation is sullied and stained, much of the beauty of the world gone. There is an enmity of one creature to another; they are all subject to continual alteration and decay of the individuals, liable to the strokes of God's judgments upon man. When the world was drowned, and almost all the creatures in it, surely then it was subject to vanity indeed. The whole species of creatures is designed for, and is hastening to, a total dissolution by fire. And it is not the least part of their vanity and bondage that they are used, or abused rather, by men as instruments of sin. The creatures are often abused to the dishonour of their Creator, the hurt of his children, or the service of his enemies. When the creatures are made the food and fuel of our lusts, they are subject to vanity, they are captivated by the law of sin. And this not willingly, not of their own choice. All the creatures desire their own perfection and consummation; when they are made instruments of sin it is not willingly. Or, They are thus captivated, not for any sin of their own, which they had committed, but for man's sin: By reason of him who hath subjected the same. Adam did it meritoriously; the creatures being delivered to him, when he by sin delivered himself he delivered them likewise into the bondage of corruption. God did it judicially; he passed a sentence upon the creatures for the sin of man, by which they became subject. And this yoke (poor creatures) they bear in hope that it will not be so always.
Ep elpidi hoti kai,
&c.—in hope that the creature itself; so many Greek copies join the words. We have reason to pity the poor creatures that for our sin have become subject to vanity. (2.) That the creatures groan and travail in pain together under this vanity and corruption, v. 22. It is a figurative expression. Sin is a burden to the whole creation; the sin of the Jews, in crucifying Christ, set the earth a quaking under them. The idols were a burden to the weary beast, Isa 46:1. There is a general outcry of the whole creation against the sin of man: the stone crieth out of the wall (Hab 2:11), the land cries, Job 31:38. (3.) That the creature, that is now thus burdened, shall, at the time of the restitution of all things, be delivered from this bondage into the glorious liberty of the children of God (v. 21)—they shall no more be subject to vanity and corruption, and the other fruits of the curse; but, on the contrary, this lower world shall be renewed: when there will be new heavens there will be a new earth (2 Peter 3:13; Rev 21:1)

Isaiah 55:11

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

King James Bible Isaiah 45:18
For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.

2nd Peter 3

5For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:6Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:7But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Verse 5. First earth age Genesis 1:1 Verse 6&7 2nd earth age the one we live in now and is reserved for fire and the 3 earth age when we are back in our spiritual bodies.

2nd Peter 3 copied from biblehub.com

5For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 7But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Hebrews 1

2. Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

Hebrews 11

3. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

Job 40 15Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.

We don't read of this animal being created in this earth age. There has never been a Behemoth (Dinosaur) in our time on earth. They have been here but it was in that age spoken of in verse 1 of Genesis

Job 38:7 When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy?

When all the sons of God shouted or Joy. You do know that Satan is a son of God. When would we have shouted for Joy with all the sons of God. That would have been during that time between Genesis 1:1 & 2

A Lament over the King of Tyre Ezekiel 28

11Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

12Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

13Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.

14Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

15Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

16By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

17Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

18Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.

19All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.

When was Satan the anointed cherub that covereth? Not in this day and age but there as a time hen Satan guarded the seat of Christ until he tried to take over so he could set in it himself.
