Literal: God dictated every word to the paticular writer.
Conceptual: God gave a truth or concept to the writer who then wrote it out using his human capcacities. (Please clarify your understanding)

What do you mean when you say scripture is infallible?

Be kind. :)

(The intent of this thread is for me to get an idea of the communities opinion on this matter, and understand the support they have for their position, NOT to start another slanderous back and forth please... Thanks)

He dictated to Moses, He spoke precisely and directly through prophets, He directed/inspired the scribes, and He inspired the writing of others.
literal vs conceptual doesn't really work.

they are infallible.

They did not write under human capacities but as they were moved. Therefore it was beyond human capacity.

I voted conceptual but theres just a little bit of difference in how i think of it.

Basically God inspired the writers, but they each wrote with their own particular "style". Everything God wanted to be written was written, but ultimately the writers gave the scriptures the "style' they now have.

A good way of putting it would be God was dictating his autobiography to the writers, who each wrote in their own way.

So I kinda fall a little in a the middle between conceptual and literal.

Also I wouldn't say the scriptures are infallible, just inerrant. The scriptures contain the teachings but we can still misinterpret them.

  1. 2 Timothy 3:16
Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God's will in thought, purpose, and action),
2 Timothy 3:15-17 (in Context) 2 Timothy 3 (Whole Chapter)

  1. Acts 1:3
To them also He showed Himself alive after His passion (His suffering in the garden and on the cross) by [a series of] many convincing demonstrations [unquestionable evidences and infallible proofs], appearing to them during forty days and talking [to them] about the things of the kingdom of God.
Acts 1:2-4 (in Context) Acts 1 (Whole Chapter)
I think it's both.

John 1:14
And the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; and we [actually] saw His glory (His honor, His majesty), such glory as an only begotten son receives from his father, full of grace (favor, loving-kindness) and truth.

  1. Luke 20:21
They asked Him, Teacher, we know that You speak and teach what is right, and that You show no partiality to anyone but teach the way of God honestly and in truth.
Luke 20:20-22 (in Context) Luke 20 (Whole Chapter)

  1. John 8:32
And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free.
John 8:31-33 (in Context) John 8 (Whole Chapter)

yes i certainly believe they wrote in their own vocabulary style and such. The power of it is that it was
still written perfectly. And to understand How Hebrews 4:12 and 2 Tim 3:16-17 we must do 2Tim 2:15 :)

If you say the inspiration is literal and inerrant, how do you explain the variances in the gospels?

I explain them by saying that in three years Jesus did more than was recorded. Some variances are different
events people see as exact events, which are not. Some point out different viewpoints which shows depth
to an event. Others are what i call divine contradictions that arent but appear to be, stumbling blocks
to the profane hearted folk. Others are just plain poor understanding :)

The Bible is written and produced. EXACTLY like God wants it to be. Even the scripture that was twisted in Paul's time, and the twisted scriptures you find in all bookshops and CC-sites today. Dino, ALL scripture is given by God. God said many will twist His Gospel, so we should know there will be many that twist the Gospel.

I read the twisted versions right here on CC, but it only does one thing for me... It just more clearly define the false and the Truth. The Truth we know is the unlocked secrets of faith. When Jesus REVEALS His Word to any person, only then the Word are multiplied. Every person that reads this propably has a Bible, but how many has it written on their hearts?

See the Truth of God is written on paper, EXACTLY like HE wants it, but if Jesus does not come and write it on your heart, YOU HAVE NO WORD.

The Word of God is being written on my heart, because I page over the pages of my heart, and Jesus writes.

Many people know the history of the Bible, the text in the Bible and even the history of the writers, but they do not have a single revelation from Jesus, becasue the Bible is not for the informed, but for the enlightened.... If you have difficulty to recieve the Word into your heart, stop thinking!!! As a child, or a uninformed man like me, I thank God that He is still MAINTAINING His Word today. God is still writing His Word on peoples heart TODAY!

Like the most informed people in the world still have no clue who wrote the book of Hebrews, well why do the not just ask God? Oh sorry, God does not speak to people....Then who told me who wrote the book of Hebrews? And the proof is in the Bible....

This is a brilliant post/thread Dino, now we can all go and ask God to show us .... "Lord you said nothing is hidden, nothing is covered, please show us who wrote the book of Hebrews. Amen!"

Beautiful... Beautiful God, You are truly my God that reveals YOURSELF to me... Thank you Lord that I hear You. But why me Lord, I am just this simple man in Africa, Lord? Thank you fot the visions, thank you for Your Truth, thank You that You even had time for a lost soul like mine. Thank You that Your Word is such an big trasure in this clay vessel. Lord there is still place in this clay-pot, fill it please. Amen!

Jeus Himself has the SOLE privaledge to reveal the Word of God to us. And He will only do so AS HE PLEASES. I can show you all the revealtions I recieved, but you will only believe it when Jesus REVEALS it to you.

I listened to a study on Hebrews, Zone suggested... Man do I have a different understanding if Hebrews 13:13 than them.... And if you read that verse and still do not know who wrote Hebrews, ASK GOD!!!!

Thank You Lord, that You are true to YOUR WORD... You said SEEK and thou shall FIND, I blieve thee Christ Jesus... AMEN!!
I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
My advice for all who does not know who wrote Hebrews....Stop putting the Word of the Lord MENTALLY TOGETHER, Go in prayer and repentance to Jesus, and HE WILL REVEAL HMSELF TO YOU. He wants you to know what HE does know, and HE SHARES IT FREELY! AMEN!

God gave dreams and visions and they wrote down in their own language and understanding what they seen although when they were writing the Holy Spirit brought to remembrance the dreams and visions.
Numbers 12:6
(6) And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.

Revelation 1:11
(11) Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

John 14:26
(26) But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Friend, Yes the Scriptures, every word of God, is inspired and infallible and true. But not every interpretation of the Scriptures is true or infallible, let alone inspired.
God is not a Dictator. He didn't dictate Scripture: He breathed His truth into it, because His Word is Truth. He sanctified His Church by His Word(s); Christ is the Living Word of God. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but Christ's words shall not pass away.
God bless you. PS Every word of God in the Bible will remain and not pass away. Every word of the Bible is the word of God.

God's words are seeds meant to be planted and tended and watered until they become forest strongholds that even the gates of hell can not breach. God's words are inspired by His Spirit and is literally planted in the hearts of His children. they can not be "conceptually" understood without the light of the Holy Spirit they can not grow for they have no power. without a humble. contrite and obedient heart the ground is to stony and harden for the planting. without the love and grace of God there is no living water flowing to the seedlings. without God there is no life.

Luke 8
11 “Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 13 But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. 14 Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. 15 But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.

Men wrote down what God literally told them to write. Remember Christ used "human terms" while he was on earth to explain things of God. Plus it makes sense. You would not explain something to someone in foriegn terms they could not understand. you would use things they know and understand to explain something that is foreign to them.
