If it's easy then it would not be a burden at all.

Though Jesus says the burden of His yoke is light, it is ,nevertheless, a burden.

If it's easier then one probably isn't following Jesus as he expects.

Of course, while not easier, it is better :)

i like how one old preacher said
Christianity has not been weighed in the balances and found wanting. It’s being tried, found difficult, and rejected!"
because its not something we do,its what Christ does, what he has done.
It is him who empowers us to live a life for him and his glory, anything beside the power of the holy spirit is carnal and will burn to the ashes one day

God created us and our world, and He created how it operates. The rules are listed in the bible. You can learn the rules and do them best you can and it really helps to make life easier. For instance, a person who is kind is more likely to have people kind to them. But better yet, is to give yourself to God, and God puts these things in our hearts so we don't just do "kind" but are "kind". So we have it easier. To live within God's kingdom is living with reality of life as opposed to living with spiritual death, and that is a very real death.

At the same time, we can live in situations where we are asked to endure some hard things. If you live in Saudi Arabia, it is possible to be killed if you know the true God, and family life becomes very difficult. The Lord can give us a family and a life situation that fights us all the way. The bible even gives times that being a Christian meant death in our world. Sometimes it means living with less money. When my son was in college he was offered $1,000 a week for doing something easy that God was against. When he chose to suffer through poverty in college instead, it didn't seem easy. But if he had chosen the easy way it would have changed more than just what he did, it would have changed who he was.

It isn't only our life here on earth that counts. We can chose forgiveness and life through Christ or eternal death.

It would be very hard to be a fundamentalist christian, I know that much... there's so much truth about the world they have to deny just to go on believing. Take creation for example. If they firmly believe that the universe is only 6000 years old, they either have to fight for their words to be taken with any amount of credibility, or they have to continually struggle with the overwhelming evidence that the universe is in fact billions of years old.
It really depends on how christian you want to be... do you want to be a brainwashed soldier for Christ, or do you just want to be able to attend a church picnic and get free food?

The philosophy of men is worth less than nothing.

The only thing we struggle with is the under-whelming knowledge of people.

I take it your philosophy is to take all your wisdom from one source regardless of any contrary reason or philosophy that you see as a distraction? What wisdom is there in that?
True, people do struggle with knowledge, and there is a very steep learning curve if you are to make it in the world today. The point is, we are all always learning, and we can either build a ladder or stand on one another in our pursuit for knowledge, or just give up and pitch a tent right where we are, look down and laugh at anyone who passes you up.

God causes it to rain on the just and unjust

well, you can be either of those whether or not you are a Christian of course.
...but I don't think it makes life neither simpler nor harder. It just ultimately means you are saved from hell

If your trying to get to heaven and be with Christ then regardless, the Christian life is definitely easier than trying it with the path of Atheism :)

For me it depends on myself. How resistive am I to what God wants? I find that when things seem hard it's because I am not surrendering all and trusting Him fully. When I do things are effortless. The effort is simply the choice. One day I heard Him audibly say, "quit smoking." I put my cigarette down. About fifteen minutes later I was craving one bad! In my stupidity I went to light one justifying in my mind, "maybe it was just that one cigarette, maybe it was a test." So I lit another. I heard God again very plainly. I put it out and I threw them away. It was effortless. I haven't had one since.

I believe it is easier, at least for me. I have not lost any friends, on the contrary, I have gained a family! All the friends I met at my church I would never have met without Jesus!

Plus personally I am just happier and no matter what that makes the day better. Not saying I'm Sister Super Joyful Christian all the time, but I don't get upset over half the stuff I used to. And when I do feel myself losing it I can stop, calm down, ask God to help me. I'm quite sure my blood pressure is thanking Him. Makes for much easier days and less time spent fixing my mascara.

Well, lets see.
- Pick up your cross and follow Me.
&
- My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

So.....Yup! On both accounts.

(sorry if this was already stated, I was lasy and didn't read the previous posts)

Nevertheless, I like your stop sign avatar. It is sometimes reflective of our walk with Jesus.

To decide that scientist, philosophers, or doctors of any discipline knows more than God who created us doesn't seem right to me. They know nothing of the spiritual world, that limits them. Sometimes they can give the particulars of something the bible talks about. Whatever the discipline, seeing it through God's eyes and including the spiritual world in our learning enhances learning and gives it reason and sense.

Did you know that the light you see on a sunny day took only eight minutes to get here from the sun? Did you also know that the light doesn't just shoot off the surface of the sun, but is created by the fusion reaction going on in the center of the sun? When two hydrogen atoms collide under the intense gravity and heat inside the sun's core, they fuse into a helium atom and a little bit of energy and light... that single photon bounces around inside the sun, trying to escape, and for thousands of years it's trapped inside the sun before it finally bounces around enough to reach the surface and beyond into space... and only eight short minutes later it zooms into your eyeball.
...fascinating, no?
Well if you tried looking up in the Bible 'where does light come from?' the answer would only be 'Jesus', and that isn't a very satisfying answer; so don't blame the scientists for wanting to know more than what the Bible says.

I love how you put it SeekingJC, I find it hard, at times in my life, because we all have tests, and trials. It's when I find it hard, that I feel even closer to God. Because no matter how hard it gets for me he always pulls me through. I can talk to him, and even though I can't hear his voice I know that he listens, and answers back, because I can feel it in my heart, and soul. When I ask things from him whether he answers mes or not I still give him thanks, and prays. Only because I know that if he don't answer some of my prayers. I know that it's because he has other plans for me, and he does deserve my honor, glory, and praise to him. Only because he loves me even should I make mistakes!

it can be easy and hard, the hard part is when saten attacks us and tries to steal or happiness and peace, always remeber that saten loves to steal kill and destroy and he is very good at his job but GOD is always there and it makes it easy, life always has hard ships but GOD walks with us. and the rewards are always worth the hard parts.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RornLHjfma8&list=LL4Z6NmsQ-IV3w5MnUaZGcwA the song link is too a song called redeemed, it's worth a watch. i hope and pray that you walk with the lord because no matter what you may go through it is entirly worth it and you will have good parts, i have been going to church all my life and i have had many hardships aloung the way but the rewards and good times are always better. in my christian walk i have had alot of people not care for me or not want to be close freinds because of my relasenship with christ and thats alright because the freinds that i made because of my faith as a common bond, i have made alot of freinds, many of them i have know for most if not all my life and they are my true freinds that are very caring and loving and you can have the same thing because christ brings things and people together.
