It is the eternal purpose of the living God to bring us into his Family. But where will the family of God reside? What will it's members be doing? Is there any biblical basis for the common idea that they will be playing harps somewhere in Heaven or on earth? What did Jesus say about the reward of the righteous? "In My Father's house are many [rooms]: is it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself: that where I am, there you may be also " ( John 14: 2-3 ) The crucial question is where will Christ be? Several scripture passages clearly show that Jesus will return here to earth and rule the nations with his saints.

Revelation makes it pretty clear that the Righteous will be reclining, eating and drinking on the singular throne of the Triune God in Heaven. Thus, this would seem to reject the idea that The Son is anywhere else other than with His people in Paradise.

Isaiah informs the reader that we will be working in Heaven.

Hmmm interesting post, I think heaven would be different for many people. We all have different longings for heaven and what it should be for us. Playing harps and stuff may be a certain quality some people want in heaven, but really what is heaven exactly? IS it a glorious kingdom in the clouds? No i think heaven itself is being forever in the presence of god. My heaven isn't eternal life, or heavenly treasures or even the singing of beautiful angels crying glory to the one on high, who is and was and who is worthy of all praise. heaven itself to me is Jesus. Just to be in his arms forever is all i want. To me there is no treasure heaven can possibly give me that can amount to my lord and savior. But that is just my personal heaven, everyone has their own personal heaven that suites their needs and desires

Well, in 1898 Charles J. Butler wrote a hymn, "Where Jesus is, tis' heaven there."

The Bible makes reference to a Millennial Reign of Jesus Christ upon the Earth; after all, Jesus was born to be King of kings and Lord of lords.

After the Millennial Reign, there's the Sovereign Kingdom of God in which all those invited to exist in the presence of God will dwell with God and Jesus Christ forever and ever.

As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people from this time forth and forever (Psalm 125:2).
