I said. "Drinking is actually recommended in Scripture under certain circumstances."

The Bible does not teach total abstinence from alcohol.

“Ecclesiastes 9:7 Go ahead and enjoy your meals as you eat. Drink your wine
with a joyful attitude, because God already has approved your actions.”

Psalm 104:14-15 “You make grass grow for cattle and make vegetables for humans to use in order to get food from the ground. You make wine to cheer human hearts, olive oil to make faces shine, and bread to strengthen human hearts.”

1 Timothy 5:23 Drink no longer water only, but use a little wine for your stomach’s sake and your frequent illnesses.

Proverbs 31:6-7 Let beer be for those who are perishing, wine for those who are in
anguish! Let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more.

Philippians 4:5 “Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.”

Proverbs 25:28 “Like a city with breached walls is a man without self-control.”

If drinking itself was a sin, Jesus would not have turned six jugs
of ceremonial cleansing water into wine for the wedding guests
to drink in the first recorded miracle of John's gospel. Some say
this was merely grape juice, but then why would the host proclaim,

“Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine
after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the

best till now.” "Having too much to drink and having your senses
numbed by such clearly indicates alcohol content.
Interesting bit on Timothy there. They have found that wine helps with digestion.
I think like anything, all things in moderation, none in excess, but if it becomes a problem (like alcoholism) then yes, abstain from it.

In these days and times, it is paramount, we the church are to be Sober minded. We are not to be drunk with wine but filled with the Spirit. The Holy Spirit more now than ever before must have full reign in our lives. The Empowerment of the Holy Spirit to be an "effective Witnesses " only can happen when the Holy Spirit is upon the person. Separation and cleaving to the Lord are essential as these days are wicked and lawless people rules. I believe these are growing pains of the last days that we see today and will take us to the very Coming of the Lord. Werre sin abound grace did much more abound. Evil men and women are creating wickedness and plotting against the people of God as never before. The United States is heading in a direction that will bring us down. The persecution will start on Christians almost immediately in America after Jan 20th. This is not the time to be led away by small addictions
This alone is sobering to hear. You're not wrong. Starting on the 20th it's going to get crazy.

God's word has much to say about the consumption of fermented and unfermented wine. In ancient times wine could be fermented grape juice mixed with water, thus making it somewhat diluted. Fermented wine could also be made without adding water and making it more intoxicating. The Bible often describes this type of wine as "strong drink". Without question the Bible condemns drinking to the point where a person is drunk. As Christians we are commanded to not let our bodies be enslaved by anything (1 Corinthians 6: 12) and getting drunk with alcohol would certainly fall under this category. Christians should not do anything that hinders the Holy Spirit's influence on us. A person who consumes alcohol to the point where they are drunk has let the alcohol influence their decision making instead of being "filled by the spirit". Alcohol by itself is not tainted by sin, it is the drunkenness and addiction to it that a Christian must absolutely stay away from. Scripture does not forbid Christians from drinking beer, wine, or anything else containing alcohol in it. As a matter of fact, there are times the Bible speaks of alcohol in a positive light.

Ephesians 5:18 "be not drunk with wine where in excess; but be filled with the Holy Spirit." This passage of scripture is warning us to not be "drunk" or drinking to the point where it is to much or "excess". Drinking to much leads to intoxication, which leads to bad decisions. God wants us to be filled by the Holy Spirit which leads and guides us into making better decisions in life.

Exodus 32:6-7 The people were so intoxicated with wine that the Lord said, "they have corrupted themselves."
Proverbs 20:1 "Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise." To be led astray is to be led by the intoxication of wine, where God wants us to be lead by the Holy Spirit.

Proverbs 31:4-7 verse 4 says that it is not for kings to drink wine. If the king is drunk and is under its influence, he may forget the law, his morals, or himself. A drunken king will use bad judgement when making important decisions concerning his kingdom. A king who stays drunk all the time cannot lead his people or country. Now notice in verse 6 this passage is actually giving permission to drink intoxicating wine. "strong drink" to those who are about to die and may need it for pain and "wine" who have a heavy heart and is afflicted with anxiety, nervousness, or something troubling them emotionally.

Final thoughts
It is incorrect to say that wine in the Bible was just simply grape juice, but equally incorrect to say that wine was fermented the same as modern day. It has been clinically proven that a glass of red wine soothes the stomach. The drunken state is what the Bible most warns about. The fact is, many people have a problem with having just "one glass" of red wine and want to keep going until it is too late. They become enslaved by the alcohol and do and say things they normally wouldn't. For these people it is a good idea to stay completely away from any kind of alcohol beverage. Keep in mind, back in ancient times the water was not very clean. Without modern sanitation, the water was filled with bacteria, viruses, and all kinds of contaminants. It is still true today in some third world countries where immediately after you step off an airplane they tell you not to drink the water! Regarding alcohol and its effects it has on people, the easy temptation to consume more than one can handle, and due to the possibility causing another brother or sister stumbling in their walk with Christ, it may be best for a Christian to abstain from drinking all together.
God bless everyone!
My opinion-People back in the day had limited options..but we don’t. I think its good to remain sober-minded and to that end to abstain from drinking alcohol.

Can you define sober minded? I think most people are able to enjoy a glass of wine or beer without losing sobriety, unless sober is defined in another way?
Obviously for those who are unable to handle any alcohol at all would be wise to abstain and that is up to their judgement.

Sober minded in that you haven’t impaired your mind from being able to think clearly. Can you be impaired on one drink? Does the social aspect of drinking come into play..and that impairs your mind as well?

Yes it can for some people, hence the second paragraph in my statement.
I read thing quite literally at times so to me the OP is not asking, is it sin to get drunk? Not asking is it sin to be addicted to alcohol?
It's asking, at least to me, is it sinnto drink any alcohol at all.
Personally for me it is not, I like to enjoy a single beer, cider or wine occasionally. For others it's not. Its up to a person's conscience, as there really is no explicit command to not drink at all.
No one should condemn another for not drinking and neither should a person condemn another for having a drink.
That is my view at least, which I've expressed previously.
And I will always ask a brother if they are okay if I were to ever drink in their midst, which is very rare, lest I cause them some temptation or to stumble.

You probably already know that it slows the healing process considerably.
=====================================
what slows the 'healing-process', is (poor diet-prescription drugs/drugs)...
you obviously have no idea how 'real pain' feels or how it affects the bodily processes and instinctive, primal survival modes
that just 'kick-in'...
but, we have lots of hope for you, for you have proved yourself as a very inquisitive man, seeking your Creator's Mind and Ways...

Yeah Jesus was the best distiller in town and promoted drunkenness [which he says is work of the flesh] unbelievable people actually think this is true and you do know unfermented drink was also called wine.

Just because I mentioned that, doesn't mean I was saying you were. I was merely expressing my whole personal viewpoint.

Even the electrical devices have a purpose..
Revelation‬ ‭11:7-9‬ ‭
When they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the abyss will make war with them, and overcome them and kill them. And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which mystically is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. Those from the peoples and tribes and tongues and nations will look at their dead bodies for three and a half days, and will not permit their dead bodies to be laid in a tomb.
‭‭
There is a lot to look out for to stay sober minded.

we don't have a 'cell-phone' nor do we want one - we have had several friends
who wanted to 'buy us one', or put us on their PLAN! - but guess what?
Jesus said NO, and we complied...
for real, we just have not EVER WANTED a 'cell-phone, and haven't had a TV for years'...

so our 'real news' always comes from 'up-above'...
