I always thought dreams about the future were from God, but I've seen some posts that say they aren't. It's bothering me because my mom has said she's dreamed about things before they've happened. Or like a few years ago, I dreamed about having surgery on my ankle a couple of weeks before I broke my ankle and had to have a surgery on it.

So is that bad :confused:

don't worry yourself with a question like that. Its out of your control.. and it is what it is. Accept it, see it as a gift and use it as a tool. God bless :)

I have had several dreams about the future. Some were good and some were not so good. Don't be too concerned about them. You haven't done anything wrong. :)

It's just that sometimes I dream about things like the world ending or going to hell and it kind of bothers me.

I have had those dreams too.Very vivid ones.
May times your dreams are about your subconsious. Next time you have a dream write it down. Then think about the day before and if any of your activities may be related to the dream.

For example, lets say that last night you had a dream that you were a little girl again....maybe earlier in the day you were looking thru old pictures or thinking back to your childhood and you ended up dreaming about it.

Lol, last night I dreamed that i gave birth to my boyfriends baby. That was one VIVID dream...thank goodness I woke up. ;)

I know the reason for that dream though it because I would like to have another baby and my mind is telling me that I am possibly ready to have another....BUT i am not married so that wont be happening.

Anyway, just try to relax and keep a journal of your dreams.... maybe that will help you figure out why you are having certain ones.

God DOES give us dreams about the future, usually for the purpose of intercession/prayer. If you had understood the dream to be God letting you know what the enemy had planned for your life, you could have used your authority in Christ to cancel his assignment over you. You could have asked God to intervene and stop the attack before it happened. God gives us dreams for HIS PURPOSES and, for the most part, it is so that we will seek Him on any given matter.
Don't beat yourself up over it! But the next time you have such a dream, PRAY!! ASK Him for His input. And if it is a dream in which you or someone you know is getting the sharp end of the stick, verbally and in the name of Jesus, CANCEL that assignment over yourself or the one you know.
Hope that helps!
Maggie

How does someone know whether a dream is from God or from their subconscience? Like a few nights ago I dreamed I took this slide that said "the lake of fire" and I ended up in this lava like place with all these screaming creatures. But I remember thinking to myself "this isn't that bad" and escaped and took this other slide that took me through this weird psychedelic type thing that led to this other place. Those kind dreams kind of get to me because if it's from God I don't understand and if it's from my subconscience than I must be more confused than I already think I am. :confused:

It is advised by the scripture of truth... To tell a dream as a dream, God will make manifest (known) whether or not the dream is prophetic, besides it is to align with the word of God.

I would not place much emphasis on dreams as I would to obedience to Gods word... try the spirits whether they be of God!

Typically, dreams from God are in 'real life' color. Dreams from your own soul or your subconcious are in dull or muted colors. Dreams in black and white are from the devil. This 'stance' on the coloration of dreams comes from decades of study by several seasoned men and women of God. The dream mentioned above, being in color is from God and it shows that you could be on a downhill spirial leading to spiritual death. You DO however, make a CHOICE and turn away from that. The dream is given to encourage you to choose a different path ...one that will allow you to experience the fantastic LIFE of God represented by all that "psychedelic color'.

Well, it would have been helpful if you had told the WHOLE dream, don't you think? All you said was weird psychedelic type ...other place. You did not say it was bad or good. That DOES change the interpretation! When you tell a dream, you need to tell as though you are telling a story ...from beginning to end.

IF the dream was in normal color, it shows that you are moving DOWNWARD spiritually. You go from certain destruction to confusion. So God is showing you that there is something about your spiritual walk that needs to change. PRAY and ASK Him (if you don't already know) what it is that you need to be changing ...in yourself, in your relationship with Him, ...whatever, so that you can, again, walk in a RIGHT relationship with Him that WILL take you UPWARD, spiritually.
Maggie

~~~For what it's worth, personally and IMO, 'psychedelic' is rather cool, being colorful and all.
Oh err uh sorry
What I meant by psychedelic was it had really bright colors, very distinct glowiing lines...stuff like that. When I said it took me to a bad place I meant it took me to this room with a few other people and I had this sick, guilty feeling idk how to describe it. I did eventually get out of the room into this other roomw where there was this guy talking to some people and I started feeling more peaceful before I left and woke up.
Idk maybe it was my subconscience because the day before someone had mentioned the lake of fire. Maybe it just got stuck in my head.
Selenah, take heed to these dreams, they may or may not be of God, have Faith!!! Faith can protect you from anything and everything that is of the enemy, if you know that you have faith then, try if you still have the dreams, if you don't they WERE NOT, from GOD!!! Pray about the dreams and ask God to intervene, ask God to stop them, ask for His will to be done, in that area of your life and if they go away you'll or not you'll have your answer... I say tho HAVE FAITH!!! God bless!!!
Hi there. First off dreams are not bad. Especially for you. Why you? Because you have a certain calling which is going to make you dream more than most people. You might even have more than one dream a night. This is quite normal. And as you grow older you would understand them better and better. However to help you out on destinction... here are a few guidelines to remember.
First before you go to sleep at night always pray for the protection of the Blood of Jesus over you.
Trust me, no demon in the world would dare challenge that authority. It is simple and is easy and you don't even have to act all spiritual. :)
Second thing. When you do receive a dream, notice what you sense in the dream. Literally to that of Galatians 5:22. For those are the fruit of the Spirit. And even if God give you a warning, you would still sense His fruit. Even if He is repremanding you, it would still be done in His fruit. So that is your way of destinction.
How does a normal dream differ from a dream from God. Well a normal dream does not have the fruit of God's Spirit attached to it, nor does it have that of the enemies. If it has that of the enemies you know it is an evil dream. No matter how nice it seems. If God's fruit isn't attached to it, it is merely a dream. Usually dreams about the future you can easily sense God's fruit on it.
Some dreams are colourful, some dreams are not. Some visions is vivid. Some looks like a tv screen. Some you look from above. Some you are in the room, but no one can see you. Some you live out in the situation.
The way the dreams come to you is not that important. But like with all kinds of prophecy we know it would be for one of three reasons,
1Co 14:3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
Do not be afraid of what you are in Christ. For He has planned and made you beautifully and wonderfully according to His will. Do not let people confuse you. But learn to hear the voice of the Lord and seek your answers from Him. However, you are more than welcome to ask if you are confused and I'll try to aid you best I can and explain to you what is happening to you.
First and foremost; Please do not allow yourself to feel like you are wrong for having dreams whether they come true or not.
Yes, I personally know it is true that God knows things which take place well into the future. He is not limited by time and space.
I personally know that God is very capable to 'teaching' the evidence of the power of His wisdom concerning past, present and future.
Peter realized that Jesus knew before hand that Peter would deny Him and Jesus then gave a rooster to show Peter what His Truth will do when Peter saw His Truth.
This alone should be evidence of why Peter said to Jesus, "You know all things."
As Jesus taught Peter, He desires that we seek Him concerning all things.
It would be a mistake to FOLLOW AFTER SOMEONE who claims to see the end times, or what is going to happen to you or someone else.
A side note; Science speaks of de ja as an experience from the past or in a dream. Not that it happened, but just thinking that it did is "uncanny"
Aside from the things which seem impossible; I can personally attest to 'being shown' by the Spirit.
You have raised a good point that is argued on both sides of the table. But do not think it is wrong to dream....
Yeah it wasn't deja vu. I have had deja vu before though lol.
There's been other times when I'd dream about things and then later in real life I'd see something that I saw in the dream. It does make me wonder, but most of the time the dreams were too vague, short, or else I wonder if I'm just dreaming about things from my subconscience.
(chuckle) I think it's 'uncanny' how many people have had de ja vu.
I've had day 'dreams' with extreme color. Those were days of great stress. I've had visions that taught things while I was awake. The only way I can describe them is to say I was not where my feet were. I find these discussions interesting.
Some dreams are colourful, some dreams are not. Some visions is vivid. Some looks like a tv screen. Some you look from above. Some you are in the room, but no one can see you. Some you live out in the situation. If, in your dream, you are WATCHING the characters, even including yourself, the dream is about either the people in the dream or the situation. If, in your dream, you are the main character, the dream is about you. If, in your dream, you are ONE of the characters, then it is about a situation in which you are involved. 95% of dreams are for the purpose of PRAYER....of seeking God as to HIS answer to the situation.
The way the dreams come to you is not that important.I adamantly disagree. The source of the dream IS very important! Dreams from God are to instruct, teach, warn and direct. Dreams from our Soul reveal our real feelings about a situtation in which we are involved. Dreams from the devil, that GOD ALLOWS, are allowed so that WE can take action as we have authority over all evil, Christ within us. But like with all kinds of prophecy we know it would be for one of three reasons, 1Co 14:3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
Dreams are not always prophetic. Dreams are simply ONE of the Methods of how WE HEAR from God. It is one of the ways He SPEAKS to us.
1 Co 14:3 is not speaking about dreams but about the ACT OF SPEAKING FOR GOD to another person.
