Election always has service connected to it, not salvation.

If we're going to receive God's mercy, we've got to do it God's way. There is no running it or willing it any other way. God sets the terms, not man. God has set His terms to receive His mercy, and it is through Jesus Christ. Man cannot will it any other way.

both can not be right, they both teach different gospel. Paul said there is one way to heaven, not two. And if anyone teaches a different way, they are to be cursed.

not sure why it always seems to be an arminian, vs calvin, vs Catholic debate. most people are neither. in fact, the apostles did not follow any of the "isms" no matter what people within the "ism" belief want to tell you.

romans 9 is paul explaining how God did not make a mistake choosing Israel. And how he shoots down some common misconceptions many jews were trying to spread, and how God is not yet done with Isreal. He will fulfill his promise to them even thought they at present are blinded in part.
