In the Bible study last night, woke up in the middle of the night with, desire to pray and praise and Joy in Jesus

So I came online, and I talked about hoping for that day and looking for that day, and wouldn't it be great if it was today!

A reply from a few people

I never pray for that, there are people I want to get saved

Your not supposed to pray for that - referencing Amos

Is that biblical though?

The Bible clearly states that it is the Lords wish that all be saved, so I believe he will not come until the last person who will be saved is saved, and He knows who that will is.

I agree with that statement, but what about my question?

Probably it is skipped: LET YOUR KINGDOM COME...

Our own Lord (Jesus) taught us to pray for that and, if I die now, my fate could be sorted out, but not my children´s.

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost. (Rev 22:17)

He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. (Rev 22:20)

There is nothing wrong with pray for or looking forward to Messiah's return.
I've learned through observance of Passover, the Jews pray for the Messiah's coming every year.
They say until next year in Jerusalem, referring to the coming of the Messiah.
Now for those, like me, who know Messiah already come once, when I say, "Until next year in Jerusalem" I'm referring His 2nd coming.

1 Corinthians 16:22 If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.

Maranatha ...a petition for the Lord to return.

μαρανα θα (also μαρανα θα, μαραν αθα or μαραν αθα) an Aramaic formula used in early Christian liturgy; either (1) at the Lord 's Supper our Lord is present or (2) as a petition for the Lord to return O Lord, come! the latter seems preferable in the context of 1C 16. 22 (cf. RV 22. 20) (ANLEX)

I think it would depend on how u ask the Lord to come? For instance if I said "Dear Lord, I am weary for my strength in flesh has fought the enemy strong as I can. I have fought life's sorrows and pain, til I am older now and weaker now, so I look forward to Your coming. But I promise You God I will hold on, til You come. And even crawling,..I will do the best I can. Even crawling, I will cast out the enemy in Your Holy name. And in patience I will be as a sweet fruit from your tree of Righteousness,..only to become more beautiful in spirit for You dear Lord in time."
Lol..I'm sorry loved ones. What I meant from this is....Its OK to desire God to come, as long as your desire is not to pray for deaths of others just to get out. That's my meaning. I sure hope I didn't confuse? Does anyone agree? For disagree...lol...its OK I still love you! :)

"People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own.**If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return.*Instead, they were longing for a better country--a heavenly one.*Therefore God is not ashamed*to be called their God,*for he has prepared a city*for them."
"But our*citizenship is in*heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ"
"He said to them, "When you pray, say: " 'Father, hallowed be your name,*your kingdom come."
Is that Biblical enough...

The Bible says to OCCUPY until he comes. We can be expectant for his return and I am, but his return doe snot take away the mandate to occupy.

In fact, Lets look at Acts 1.6-8
[SUP]6 [/SUP]So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, “Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?” [SUP]7 [/SUP]He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; [SUP]8 [/SUP]but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”

The Disciples asked Jesus if we came back to restore the kingdom to Israel, and Jesus stated essentially not to worry about the Time that was going to happen, but go be a witness.

I will let you decide your answer.

No it is not wrong. There is absolutely nothing wrong with desiring to be with him in fact it isn't even wrong to long to go home because you are tired and homesick. Where do you think such feelings and desires come from? It is him calling you home him reminding you where you belong where your home is where your heart resides. if anyone says this is wrong then let it be wrong in their eyes your heart is connecting to his and this is very biblical. Do you have any idea how badly he craves to hold you in his arms? How desperately he wants to take you away from here and shower you with love you never could have ever imagined?

So please anyone show me in the bible where such a love and such a desire is wrong or unbiblical

Nope.

It is absolutely right and Biblical to pray for the Lord to come. For the very last prayer in the Bible was and is for the Lord to come. To come back and return. And it is John, the Disciple whom Jesus loved, who prayed that very prayer:

Revelation 22:20 (Authorized King James Holy Bible)

He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Nothing wrong with it at all;

When I was asked this before, I just told them to be careful that this prayer isn't prayed with all your hope on..you know what, that would probably derail the thread, so I end there.

Those that answered NO, might want to check the parable of the talents. He said to occupy, that does not mean occupy your time wondering when he is coming back and asking him when his coming back, it means to continue working the sending mission of God, which is to spread the Gospel.

Revelation 2 & 3 gives us great insight as well.

I see no problem with Praying for JESUS 2nd Coming. If you look at the LORD'S Prayer that is what it states, thing is though it is a model Prayer we must keep in mind HE will only come when Sent by the FATHER.

Blessings!!!!!!!

I think expecting him to return is quite enough and proven in the Bible. Praying he comes back means you think the end is ready, and you the Bible is pretty clear in Matt 24 , what needs to take place for him to return.

Praying that the Gospel go out into all the world, would be a better prayer than asking him to return, before the mandate is fulfilled.

I also see sons and daughters turn very apathetic, when they constantly pray and seek his return. You want him to return, start spreading the Gospel.

I agree with that statement, but what about my question?
"Thykingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." Matthew 6:10

4 things to take into account.
1. Pray for God's kingdom to infiltrate every heart, looking forward to His ruling, for He is King of the kingdom.
2. Pray that His perfection will be accomplished in His true church today, the same as it is where He dwells in heaven.
3. Pray for His will to be accomplished with His iron rod during the millennial period.
4. Pray that you will be ready when He does come in the clouds with immense power and glory.
