One can’t have faith unless they repent

but repent is nothing a work, or at least not ours, it is Gods work in our life,

I am dumbfounded at those who want to take credit away from God and give it to themselves.

Repentance requires work
Repentance is a change of heart, mind, will, attitude, direction, lifestyle, and preferences.

It is a total TURNING AWAY from sins and idols and a TURNING TO God and Christ for forgiveness of sins and salvation. It does not require work at the time of repentance. It requires a change of heart and mind. Later, it will show itself in actions. Study the narrative regarding Zacchaeus.

Repentance is not something we do. It is something God gives us and works in us.
Not true.
The Bible says we must......repent. That is not work it is the act of repentance.

I believe you are mixing repentance with Grace. That which God extends to us under which we get forgiveness....Grace.

Follow the Bible. I would not waste my time on your offer...thanks though.

We must always first seek understanding of God's commandments from the Bible.
Then you'll understand why I don't waist any time on what you have to say.

Repentance is an act of compliance with God's commandments...why do you attempt to associate it with work?
God grants grace under which we can obtain forgiveness by repentance.

Jesus paints a wonderful picture of repentance when he tells the parable of the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the prodigal son. When you understand that the sheep did not turn around and head home, and the coin didn't come out from the cracks of the floor by itself, and that, though the son does come home it is to be a slave to his father not as a son, not but the father restores him.

Completely agree, people who say such as obtain forgiveness via repentance, are completely taking claim for their own salvation. Total nonsense. God grants us repentance, "both to will and to do" .

A good example is also Esau, the Bible says he could not find repentance though he sought it with bitter tears. In other words he wanted the reward, but could not accept that he was guilty he had done it to himself. He wasn't sorrowful, he was simply angry at Issac, and sorrowful that he had lost his birth right.

I said it was not a work, at least not ours, it was the work of God in our life.

so why would you ask why I said it was a work??

Repentance requires work. Many believe work has no value because it is faith that God bases forgiveness on.

Repentance requires knowing the law, we could not repent of sins we know nothing about, yet many believe the law is cancelled.

How can these things be reconciled?
The law is not cancelled. It is redundant for believers. The law is intended to lead sinners to Christ. Then the Law of the Spirit of Life comes into effect. I did not know the ten commandments when I was witnessed to. I did get convicted anyway, because I have a conscience. I never thought of myself as a sinner - I had no idea what that meant. The Holy Spirit works through the gospel. If anh individual is convicted, repentance usually follows. Not everyone knows what repentance is either. Fundamentally, it is a change of mind. What I once considered acceptable becomes unacceptable. Being able to live up to God's standards is another thing entirely. That is where we need to draw constantly on the Life of Christ within.

Zacchaeus was not regenerated. He didn't receive the Holy Spirit . And I wouldn't tell a lost person they need to totally turn away from sins before they can be saved ..I believe they can be saved immediately upon belief .

Believe whatever you want to believe. Peter preached repentance BEFORE the Jews received the Holy Spirit. If that ain't good enough for you, then too bad.

Everyone with exception has been granted repentance.
