Ephesians 4:29

Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.

Ephesians 5:4
and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.

So, what of someone saying to saying, "You are a damn fine man?"

$%*# no,whatever gave you that @&%*!# idea.

Swearing would be wrong, for the world uses it in a wrongful manner,so how could the saints possibly use it in a proper manner.

We as followers of our Savior represent Him in our words and deeds, so if what we say and do does not seem to us as anything we would do if He were right there (which He is ) then to me we should refrain from it.

Guess it would be better than saying to a person that he is a precious little...(bad word of your own choice).

Saying "I'm out of chocolate" is definitely a sinful phrase, and should NEVER be spoken out loud.. ;) lol

I have a technical reply for this that will make me look like a speech geek lol
Technically (unless the grammar rule has changed since I was in school which is always possible) that is the wrong usage of the word "damn", and the proper usage would be, "You are a damned fine man".
So knowing this....I am wondering if being told I am "damned" is ever a good thing in any form? :p
However, not being a man at all, this doesn't really concern me. LOL

Depends on the word, some words like ***** and bastard are not actually 'swear' words, it depends on the spirit in which it is used. And you can certainly be acting in the same spirit as someone who uses the F, S and C word without actually saying them.

So as not to be accused of dancing around this subject, let me go on record as saying I think "cussing" is probably unnecessary, and mostly crude. But I definitely do not think it is sinning.

Do the Brits still use "bloody" as a christian cuss word? Always thought that was a bit of a bloody cop out. Like Shia Lebuf says "Just DO IT!"
