It drives me crazy to read all this America- centered Bible prophecy. Their have been many kingdoms and empires since the time of Christ (Roman, Holy Roman, Chinese, Mongolian, Arab through to the British) that have come and gone.
It is sheer pride to think anything that happens in the USA is that important, esp. something as trivial as a government shut down. I don't mean to offend any Americans, but to warn against this sin of pride.
God's chosen people were the Jews before Christ, and now the church is God's chosen people. Anything else is lies and heresy at worst, misguided nationalism at best!

No its not even that big a deal for the "big picture" some people may suffer for loss of paycheck, which may not even end up happening anyway. Its not even a real hutdown its the shutdown of some non-essential services funded by the govt, the image of the beast will continue to do all their crimes, includung supporting al qaeda. This is all a scare tactic, to fear people into leting the govt do anything they please, death panels anyone? Obama! Obama!

I don't know, but there is a relevant scripture which says something like 'an evil and perverse nation, many are the princes thereof' (I think it is in proverbs).
We seem to have a lot of politicians (princes) doing a lot of busy work and making all kinds of weird rules and regulations these days.
I used to get all wrapped up in politics and world events. But I think God would rather have me trust him, than worry about the political crisis of the day. God is in charge, and maybe he is allowing us to have some crummy politicians, injustice in our courts, and crime in the streets. When Israel fell away from God, he did similar things to them. We are just reaping our own godlessness as a nation, it seems to me.

Are you aware that this isn't the first government shutdown that the US has had? Were these also prophecied? How would a person be able to tell the difference in which one prophecy applies to if it describes the act but not the date?
