I was praying and fasting which in most cases, I find it easier to do the going without food than the actual praying bit. When I came across that chapter, Isaiah 58. How can you pray that chapter and ask God to come through in your fasting and praying?

We cannot order the Lord in any way, we must only listen to how his spirit is. That is what fasting is all about, taking into ourselves what is of the Lord, not of the flesh.

God is spirit and truth, more real than yesterdays food. Material food spoils and disappears, God and what He feeds us is everlasting. Fasting and praying is opening ourselves to the spirit of God, accepting that spirit within us.

Do as the Lord leads. If you sense he wants you stop fasting and do something else, then just obey.

If you can go without food easily you are ahead of most people. Most people have no problem praying, usually about not being able to eat.
But fasting is about foregoing purposefully what is necessary for physical life and acknowledging that real life is to be found in God. Going without a necessity is a way of saying to God that He is more important to you than life itself and that you want to know how to feed off Him more intimately and vitally.
God is pleased with such on our behalf and not only meets His people in such times, but also communicates Himself to us in ways we would not otherwise know Him.
Personally, I get hungry quickly and generally stay hungry during times of fasting. I use the hunger pangs to remind myself to pray. I also usually have something specific in mind to pray about to focus my prayers.
Hope you find this helpful.

Isaiah 58 is about the misuse of fasting by the Jews, who were omitting to do what was right and righteous, and assuming that their fasting was pleasing to God. It is not a condemnation of fasting as such, but fasting while being unrighteous.

So that does not even apply to you. Here is what is more applicable, and possibly God will reward you openly: Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly. The idea isn’t to pray chapter 58 but to heed the instructions of chapter 58

the act of fasting doesn’t mean anything to God if we are not testing people the right way

What he’s saying is this is the kind of fasting he accepts and will reward

“Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward. Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am.

If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; and if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noon day: and the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭58:6-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

That’s a preview of Jesus doctrine and what fasting truly is to God

It isn’t this

“Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high. Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭58:4-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It’s what he explains out helping the poor and hungry clothing rhe naked ect it was a preview of this

“Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭25:34-36‬ ‭KJV‬‬

fasting and praying doesn’t mean a thing if we aren’t following the gospel and treating other people as God has taught us but if we treat others right however we fast will be acceptable to God
