Brethren,

I almost never post on Christian Chat anymore because of the discourtesy and sometimes open antagonism that usually follows. However, this is important enough to post regardless.

If you have read any of my books on Bible prophecy, you are aware that in my opinion, all of Revelation that needed to be fulfilled before the return of the Lord has already been fulfilled in the restoration of Israel in 1948 and the freeing of Jerusalem from Gentile control in 1967. In fact, all Bible prophecy with the exception of James 5:1-4, i.e., the collapse of world economies . . .

James 5:1-3
"Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten. Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days" . . .

A Quadrillion Yen And Counting – The Japanese Debt Bomb Could Set Off Global Panic At Any Moment

We see the fulfillment of that prophecy before us right now, no waiting. We were once the most prosperous country that ever existed, the Christian lighthouse to the world, but no longer. Get ready brethren; we are going to see some tough days before Jesus appears in the sky . . .

James 5:8-9 "Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door."

[h=3]Lamentations 4[/h]New International Version (NIV)

4 [a]How the gold has lost its luster,
the fine gold become dull!
The sacred gems are scattered
at every street corner.

2 How the precious children of Zion,
once worth their weight in gold,
are now considered as pots of clay,
the work of a potter’s hands!

3 Even jackals offer their breasts
to nurse their young,
but my people have become heartless
like ostriches in the desert.

4 Because of thirst the infant’s tongue
sticks to the roof of its mouth;
the children beg for bread,
but no one gives it to them.

5 Those who once ate delicacies
are destitute in the streets.
Those brought up in royal purple
now lie on ash heaps.

6 The punishment of my people
is greater than that of Sodom,
which was overthrown in a moment
without a hand turned to help her.

Rev 16 17 The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and out of the temple came a loud voice from the throne, saying, “It is done!” 18 Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunderand a severe earthquake. No earthquake like it has ever occurred since mankind has been on earth, so tremendous was the quake. 19 The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered Babylon the Great and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath. 20 Every island fled away and the mountains could not be found. 21 From the sky huge hailstones, each weighing about a hundred pounds,[a] fell on people. And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible.

Agreed. The ignore feature works well and should be employed as need.
Yeah, for peace of mind and to keep a kindly Christian spirit, I always put (guess who) on ignore, just did so, in fact. <grin>

I often wonder just how many in their hearts, or better said in Jesus, sence that much is soon to be fullfilled?
I just long for those who do not know Jesus, but fear the days ahead, that they would recieve in Jesus, the peace that will comfort and sustain them.

God bless

[SUP]8 [/SUP]You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand (NEAR).

When was the Book of James written? To Whom was the book of James written? Who was the audience? What was the culture at that time? What times did these Christians face?

So you are trying to tell me that this is specifically for us?

This was written to the believes in and around Jerusalem and Israel, 1st Century Christians prior to 70AD. Why would James tell them to patient if had the 21st Century in mind!!! It would have made this whole verse completely insignificant to His first and early readers. The Lord's coming here is at Hand, meaning Near, its around the Corner!!!James wasn't talking about the 2nd coming of Christ, but Christ's coming in Judgment against Jerusalem/Israel.

Sorry, Therapon, but it doesn't take a modern day prophet to see how the morals of country/world is going down. Do give up hope though, God is faithful.

Bookends makes a good point, the Old T. was always saying "the Day of the Lord is at hand" and the day of the is still future for us. this is common in prophetic writing. Paul only gives a time for the return of Jesus in 2Thess 2, no where else. John is more specific in Rev. Must is yet to happen, but Israel's in the land is the big key. the Apostasy is growing every day, Jesus return is drawing closer, In a few decades, He will come in our generation. Love to all. He thought it was going to be the 2nd coming, though. The fact is all of the apostles got it wrong. They thought that Jesus was going to physically descend from heaven shortly. They were obviously wrong.

So I take you don't think the bible is infallible.

I don't think Israel matters 1 bit, they are nothing but a secular nation like the rest of them. There has always been an ebb and flow to the world's spiritual condition. And whenever some one claims they know when the 2nd coming is or that it's soon, they all have been wrong!!! But I suppose one day someone will be right because every generation thought it was their time. Christ will come again, thus some one has to be right then (but not by their calculations, but by God decision alone).

There is a lot of speculation on this. The truth is there are time tables of events that lead up to the return of Christ. All I can say is there is an allowed time frame for man, that is 6000 years. 2000 years for each dispensation of time. From the creation till Christ's resurrection 4000 years from His resurrection till about now, 2000 years. So it is very close.

Scripture says, that this all is but a blink of the eye in compraisome to the eternity that awaits us.
So near, is always close, as it is just a blink of an eye. :)
It only takes a blink to by faith, recieive Jesus. :)

I'm not a dispensationalist, so I don't go in for all date pointing or timing.. but when it says in scripture the time is near..or that to be expectant..it is just that..the last days have been since the cross. Nothing is wrong in the bible... the time since the cross has been near and we get nearer.

The bible is not wrong, nor where the apostles... if anything is wrong its because we get it wrong.
