Jesus kept the Sabbath, and never said to stop keeping it.
In Acts paul kept the Sabbath, and if you research history both Jews and Gentile christians keep the Sabbath for hundreds of years after Christ.
Heb 4 talks about the sabbath rest.
keeping the commandments of Moses is not keeping just one commandment but all of it.

the New Testament tells us how to obey God and live Godly lives.

nine of the Ten were repeated for gentile Christ followers, who did not follow the God of Abraham, Isaac , and Jacob.

Sabbath keeping was not, so not required for gentiles.
For many years the Gentiles didn't have a new testament, so they needed the writting and trachings of those that followed Jesus.
And Jesus said...
Mat 12:8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.
When did Jesus stop being the Lord of the Sabbath?

The meaning of Sabbath is to stop working ... stop trying to earn salvation. Rest, rest in Christ.

Jesus warned us that the road to salvation is straight and narrow and that only a few of us will find it. Many are traveling down the wrong road, which leads to destruction. This is because many of us have heard about salvation but few of us want to do what is necessary to get salvation (many are called but few are chosen). (Matthew 7:13, 14) Many contend that Jesus did it all and now all we have to do is have faith.

The bible says, we must not only be a hearer of the word, but a doer of the word also (James 1:21-22). DON'T FOOL YOURSELF! If we really have faith in Jesus our actions will prove it. If Jesus is our Lord then we will obey him. Even a child will obey a parent, by getting good grades in school, for the reward of a new bicycle. The child cannot earn money for the bicycle, but instead must act upon their faith to receive the free gift. We must do the same to receive eternal life. "FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD” (James 2:20).

Some say you must obey God's word, but then they turn around and teach contrary to God's word. At best they never get around to explaining exactly what kind of works are needed to get eternal life. A man asked Jesus this very question, "...What good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?", and Jesus replied, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. (Matthew 19:16-19).

Only way to enter in life is to keep the commandments!!

BroTan ----I think people need to understand that Jesus came under the 613 Laws which includes the 10 commandments -----Jesus come under the Old Testament laws ---He came to fulfil them so that the New Covenant which is the Covenant of Grace could be brought into place and bring back the Blessings and do away with the Curse for anyone who received Jesus as their Lord and Saviour -----No man could keep the laws so the Curse was in place -----God gave Blessings for keeping the laws and Curses for failing to keep the laws ---so the Curse was in place all the time for people -----they could not enter into eternal life by keeping the law as no man could keep all 613 laws and if you failed in keeping 1 law --the Book of James tells us you broke them all ------

So The scripture you quote above Matthew 19 is right for getting into Heaven at that time ----but no one could accomplish the task of keeping the commands ---so no one was going to have eternal life in the Old Testament by keeping the laws -----

Eternal life came in under the new Covenant of Grace ------- You now cannot earn your way into having eternal life by keeping any laws -----Grace comes through Faith in Jesus ---we now just have to believe in what Jesus did on the Cross which is paid the price for what we actually deserve ---which is God;s Wrath ----By Grace we are spared from what Jesus took upon Himself ----sin is forgiven when we receive the Free Gift of Salvation which Jesus accomplished for us ----we did nothing to deserve this gift --it is free for all who have Faith that Jesus died and shed His Blood for us to have eternal life -----

The Blessings and Curses are still in place today that God Gave in Deuteronomy 28 -----

People who do not accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour today are still under the 613 laws which bring them the Curses that God has given for not keeping the Laws ----which no man can keep

NOTE Folks ---If we reject Jesus The Son WE also Reject God The Father as the 2 are one --

John 14 ----11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.

These are the Blessing and Curses God Gave ----and these are in effect still today and Note that all sickness and disease come under the Curse ----and Health comes under the Blessings ------

Deuteronomy 28

Good News Translation

The Blessings of Obedience

28 “If you obey the Lord your God and faithfully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, he will make you greater than any other nation on earth. 2 Obey the Lord your God and all these blessings will be yours:
3 “The Lord will bless your towns and your fields.
4 “The Lord will bless you with many children, with abundant crops, and with many cattle and sheep.
5 “The Lord will bless your grain crops and the food you prepare from them.
6 “The Lord will bless everything you do.
7 “The Lord will defeat your enemies when they attack you. They will attack from one direction, but they will run from you in all directions.
8 “The Lord your God will bless your work and fill your barns with grain. He will bless you in the land that he is giving you.
9 “If you obey the Lord your God and do everything he commands, he will make you his own people, as he has promised.
10 Then all the peoples on earth will see that the Lord has chosen you to be his own people, and they will be afraid of you.
11 The Lord will give you many children, many cattle, and abundant crops in the land that he promised your ancestors to give you.
12 He will send rain in season from his rich storehouse in the sky and bless all your work, so that you will lend to many nations, but you will not have to borrow from any.
13 The Lord your God will make you the leader among the nations and not a follower; you will always prosper and never fail if you obey faithfully all his commands that I am giving you today.
14 But you must never disobey them in any way, or worship and serve other gods.

The Consequences of Disobedience
15 “But if you disobey the Lord your God and do not faithfully keep all his commands and laws that I am giving you today, all these evil things will happen to you:

16 “The Lord will curse your towns and your fields.
17 “The Lord will curse your grain crops and the food you prepare from them.
18 “The Lord will curse you by giving you only a few children, poor crops, and few cattle and sheep.
19 “The Lord will curse everything you do.
20 “If you do evil and reject the Lord, he will bring on you disaster, confusion, and trouble in everything you do, until you are quickly and completely destroyed.
21 He will send disease after disease on you until there is not one of you left in the land that you are about to occupy.
22 The Lord will strike you with infectious diseases, with swelling and fever; he will send drought and scorching winds to destroy your crops. These disasters will be with you until you die.
23 No rain will fall, and your ground will become as hard as iron.
24 Instead of rain, the Lord will send down duststorms and sandstorms until you are destroyed.
25 “The Lord will give your enemies victory over you. You will attack them from one direction, but you will run from them in all directions, and all the people on earth will be terrified when they see what happens to you.
26 When you die, birds and wild animals will come and eat your bodies, and there will be no one to scare them off.
27 The Lord will send boils on you, as he did on the Egyptians. He will make your bodies break out with sores. You will be covered with scabs, and you will itch, but there will be no cure.
28 The Lord will make you lose your mind; he will strike you with blindness and confusion.
29 You will grope about in broad daylight like someone blind, and you will not be able to find your way. You will not prosper in anything you do. You will be constantly oppressed and robbed, and there will be no one to help you.
30 “You will be engaged to a young woman—but someone else will marry her. You will build a house—but never live in it. You will plant a vineyard—but never eat its grapes.
31 Your cattle will be butchered before your very eyes, but you will not eat any of the meat. Your donkeys will be dragged away while you look on, and they will not be given back to you. Your sheep will be given to your enemies, and there will be no one to help you.
32 Your sons and daughters will be given as slaves to foreigners while you look on. Every day you will strain your eyes, looking in vain for your children to return.
33 A foreign nation will take all the crops that you have worked so hard to grow, while you receive nothing but constant oppression and harsh treatment.
34 Your sufferings will make you lose your mind.
35 The Lord will cover your legs with incurable, painful sores; boils will cover you from head to foot.
36 “The Lord will take you and your king away to a foreign land, where neither you nor your ancestors ever lived before; there you will serve gods made of wood and stone.
37 In the countries to which the Lord will scatter you, the people will be shocked at what has happened to you; they will make fun of you and ridicule you.
38 “You will plant plenty of seed, but reap only a small harvest, because the locusts will eat your crops. 39 You will plant vineyards and take care of them, but you will not gather their grapes or drink wine from them, because worms will eat the vines. 40 Olive trees will grow everywhere in your land, but you will not have any olive oil, because the olives will drop off. 41 You will have sons and daughters, but you will lose them, because they will be taken away as prisoners of war. 42 All your trees and crops will be devoured by insects.
43 “Foreigners who live in your land will gain more and more power, while you gradually lose yours. 44 They will have money to lend you, but you will have none to lend them. In the end they will be your rulers.
45 “All these disasters will come on you, and they will be with you until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the Lord your God and keep all the laws that he gave you. 46 They will be the evidence of God's judgment on you and your descendants forever. 47 The Lord blessed you in every way, but you would not serve him with glad and joyful hearts. 48 So then, you will serve the enemies that the Lord is going to send against you. You will be hungry, thirsty, and naked—in need of everything. The Lord[a] will oppress you harshly until you are destroyed. 49 The Lord will bring against you a nation from the ends of the earth, a nation whose language you do not know. They will swoop down on you like an eagle. 50 They will be ruthless and show no mercy to anyone, young or old. 51 They will eat your livestock and your crops, and you will starve to death. They will not leave you any grain, wine, olive oil, cattle, or sheep; and you will die. 52 They will attack every town in the land that the Lord your God is giving you, and the high, fortified walls in which you trust will fall.
53 “When your enemies are besieging your towns, you will become so desperate for food that you will even eat the children that the Lord your God has given you. 54-55 Even the most refined man of noble birth will become so desperate during the siege that he will eat some of his own children because he has no other food. He will not even give any to his brother or to the wife he loves or to any of his children who are left. 56-57 Even the most refined woman of noble birth, so rich that she has never had to walk anywhere, will behave in the same way. When the enemy besieges her town, she will become so desperate for food that she will secretly eat her newborn child and the afterbirth as well. She will not share them with the husband she loves or with any of her children.
58 “If you do not obey faithfully all of God's teachings that are written in this book and if you do not honor the wonderful and awesome name of the Lord your God, 59 he will send on you and on your descendants incurable diseases and horrible epidemics that can never be stopped. 60 He will bring on you once again all the dreadful diseases you experienced in Egypt, and you will never recover. 61 He will also send all kinds of diseases and epidemics that are not mentioned in this book of God's laws and teachings, and you will be destroyed. 62 Although you become as numerous as the stars in the sky, only a few of you will survive, because you did not obey the Lord your God. 63 Just as the Lord took delight in making you prosper and in making you increase in number, so he will take delight in destroying you and in bringing ruin on you. You will be uprooted from the land that you are about to occupy.
64 “The Lord will scatter you among all the nations, from one end of the earth to the other, and there you will serve gods made of wood and stone, gods that neither you nor your ancestors have ever worshiped before. 65 You will find no peace anywhere, no place to call your own; the Lord will overwhelm you with anxiety, hopelessness, and despair. 66 Your life will always be in danger. Day and night you will be filled with terror, and you will live in constant fear of death. 67 Your hearts will pound with fear at everything you see. Every morning you will wish for evening; every evening you will wish for morning. 68 The Lord will send you back to Egypt in ships, even though he[b] said that you would never have to go there again. There you will try to sell yourselves to your enemies as slaves, but no one will want to buy you

God gave us choice ---we choose ----Faith in Jesus gives eternal life ------or try to keep the unkeepable laws and choose death --which means the 2nd death ----we all die once but some die twice ----

Not just then-Gentile followers, but Israelites too, including Paul. The OT commandments were not obligatory for anyone under Christ (unless one's conscience led them to follow aspects of the OT).
The sabbath was part of an everlasting covenant with Israel (Exodus 31:16), if I recall correctly.

But submitting to the commandments of Moses is an act of disobedience not an act of faith. Faith acts in trusting ourselves wholly to Christ for salvation ... that we have done.
Consider, @Evmur, that we receive the love of the Lord through faith (Galatians 3:14, Romans 5:5) and the commandments are fulfilled in that we love our neighbor as ourselves (Romans 13:8-10).

In other words, if I love my neighbor, I am not going to:

commit adultery with his wife,

kill him,

steal from him,

bear false witness against him,

covet his belongings,

or,

break any other commandment concerning him.

Therefore, if I have received the love of the Lord through faith, I will not violate any of the ten commandments.

Therefore, submitting to the ten commandments is not an act of unbelief / disobedience; but of faith.

It is the result of having received the love of God through the Holy Spirit (again, Galatians 3:14, Romans 5:5).

Many translations call out that phrase as "in perpetuity" as opposed to "everlasting" or "permanent".

The vowels were added to the original, vowelless Hebrew. It's not clear from what I can tell if the vowel interpolation would change the meaning of the word.

But "perpetual" makes more sense in these instances based on Paul's discussion of the law in the NT.

You are not reading Paul writing correctly in (Gal. 3:1, 13, 16-17, 19, 24) (v.1) O FOOLISH Ga-la’-tians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? (v.13) Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, CURSED IS EVERYONE THAT HANGETH ON A TREE: What law is this talking about? Let the bible speak for itself.

(v.16) Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, and to seeds, as of many; but as of One, AND TO THY SEED, which is Christ. (v.17) And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

Now pay attention, the law that is being spoken of here came four hundred and thirty years after this covenant. But God’s holy commandments have been around forever even before man was created. Remember that Satan was kicked out of heaven because iniquity (sin) was found in him. And what is sin? The transgression of the law (commandments). Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. Now we have just read the biblical definition of sin, the transgression (breaking) of the law (commandments.) It doesn’t matter what you or I think sin is, it’s what God says sin is that counts. (1John 3:4)

(v.19) Wherefore then serveth the law? A question is being asked here. Then why should we serve this law? It was added because of transgression, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; the law that we are talking about here was added because of sin. But we now know that sin is the transgression of the law.

How do you add a law if sin is the transgression of the law? Because there are two sets of laws, you have God’s holy commandments which abided forever, and you had the animal sacrificial law which was added because of sin, but it was only good until the seed should come to whom the promise was made, and that seed was Jesus.

(v.24) Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. This animal sacrificial law was only a schoolmaster.

And this schoolmaster taught you that when you sinned in ignorance blood had to be shed (an animal sacrificed). But Christ being the ultimate sacrifice shed his precious blood once and for all, and by doing this putting an end to the animal sacrificial law. Paul says in Romans 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. So when you quoted all the places in the Bible that do away with this animal sacrificial law, not understanding that Paul talks about two sets of law. The Royal law (Ten Commandments) and the animal sacrificial law sometimes in the same verse you bring destruction to yourselves.
By the law is the knowledge of sin (Romans 3:20)...and not just the law about animal sacrifices.

And, the scripture has confined all under sin in order that the promise might come through faith in Jesus Christ (Galatians 3:22).

The whole of the law (including the ten commandments) was a schoolmaster, therefore, to bring us to Christ.

Jesus became a curse for those who will not any longer trust in their own law-keeping to save them. Therefore the curse of the law is disposed of for such people.

But for those who are still seeking to be justified by the law, they are still under a curse: they are required to keep all of the law perfectly from conception into eternity.

Gal 3:10, For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

Jas 2:10, For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

Mat 5:48, Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Which verses would self-contradict?
ive given many in the past but i ask that you look at the two lists below and work out if they are the same law.

The Moral law, the ten commandments, the law of liberty, are what define sin, and were here before sin.

Isa 5:24 The Law of God
Deu 4:12 spoken by God,
Deu 10:3,4, Ex 31:18, 32:16 Written by God On stone,
Deu 10:1-5, Kept inside the ark.
James 2:11 law of liberty,
James 2:12 will be judged by the law
Rom 7:14,19 Spiritual,
Ps 111:7,8 Luke 16:17, Matt 5:18 Eternal, Unchangeable
1 John 3:4 points out sin,
Ps 19:7,9,10 perfect, true
Ecc 12:13 The whole duty of man
Pro 29:18, 1 John 5:3 for our Happiness, not burdensome
Proverbs 3:1, 2 for long life and peace
Ps 119:172 Righteousness
Rom 13:10 Love
James 2:10-12 Judges all
Rom 7:12, 1 Tim 1:8, Holy, Just and Good

The Ceremonial law, the laws of Moses, The laws of sacrifices, and offerings, etc. introduced because of sin, shows the solution for sin, after sin.

Luke 2:22, The Law of Moses
Eph 2:15, Contained in ordinances
Lev 1:1-3 Spoken by Moses,
2 Chro 35:12, Deut 31:9, 24 Written by Moses, written in a book,
Deut 31:26 Kept outside the ark,
Eph 2:15 Ended at the cross
Gal 3:19 Added because of Sin
Gal 5:1 Col 2:14, Yoke of bondage, against us and contrary to us
Col 2:14-16, Judges no one
Heb 7:16 Carnal, fleshly
Heb 7:12 temporary,
Lev 4:27-31, John 1:29 points to saviour,
Heb 7:19 made nothing perfect
Col 2:14 Not good

People are very good at using dispensationalism to seperate the times....

But God does not change and salvation has always been by faith from the start.
Israel was Gods chosen people to preserve Gods word and take the gospel to the world. We are told that a time came when God did some pruning of the nation.

Paul explains things....
Rom 9:3 For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:
Rom 9:4 Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;
Rom 9:5 Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.
Rom 9:6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:

Rom 9:27 Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:
Rom 9:28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.
Rom 9:29 And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha.

Rom 9:30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.
Rom 9:31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
Rom 9:32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
Rom 9:33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

It is still all about faith in Jesus but does that mean there is no law and the law is void?

Rom 11:12 Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness? .....
Rom 11:16 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
Rom 11:17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
Rom 11:18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
Rom 11:19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
Rom 11:20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
Rom 11:21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
Rom 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

In this it isn't about changing the law and making the law void
it is the attitude of the people...

We can fall into the same trap as Israel and try to keep the law in our own strength and we will stumble or we can have faith in Christ and His righteousness and this is the difference.

But to say the law that defines sin has been taken away is wrong because it is Holy and Just and Good. We are part of the root which goes back to Abraham.

The only change that came because of Christ when it comes to the laws is that the shadow laws ended. Ceremonial laws that pointed to Christ way of saving us. It has always been about faith in Christ righteousness from Adam to the second coming.

Paul didn’t come preaching and teaching his own thing, but he abided in the doctrine of Christ. (Rom. 3:20) Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sights for by the law is the knowledge of sin. The deeds of the law is referring to the animal sacrificial laws, all those sacrifices can never remove sins, so they could never be justified. This is true because the blood of Jesus can only justify us. The animal sacrificial laws was added because people continue to sin, and the wages of sin bring for death. So instead of God killing people every time they sin, he gave Moses a law to use, animals. So by the other law (Ten Commandments, statutes and Judgement) is the knowledge of sin.

Paul says in Romans 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. You wouldn’t know what sin was if there was no law.

Paul concerning the unchangeable Royal Law of God. (Rom. 13:7-10) (v.7) Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. (v.8) Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. That’s the biblical definition of love, the keeping of God’s law. And you thought love was kissing and hugging and rolling around in bed. (v.9) For this, THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, THOU SHALT NOT KILL, THOU SHALT NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS, THOU SHALT NOT COVET; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR AS THYSELF. (v.10) Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

And that is what God’s holy commandments are all about; the first four tells you how to love God and the last six tells you how to love your neighbor. If you love your God you will not do any thing to offend him, like having other gods before him. You will do as he says like remember the sabbath day to keep it holy on the seventh day of the week. If you love him you will obey him when he tells you not to eat certain meats etc… And the same goes for your fellow man, if you love your neighbor you wouldn’t steal from him, you wouldn’t kill him, you wouldn’t try and sleep with his wife and so on and so forth. This is God’s definition of love and it is perfect in its ways. So if you say that you know God, but you don’t keep his commandments, lets see what the Lord had specially written for you. (See exodus 20: 1-17)

Jesus brought grace when he came in the flesh, but example of grace was in the days of Noah. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. (Genesis 6:8), And Noah and his family was saved. Now Paul said in (Rom. 3:23-25) (v.23) For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. (v.24) Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: (v.25) Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God. So the bible tells you to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2 :36-38). And by doing so you come up under his precious blood and then you are saved from your sins that are past, not present or future sins but for sins that are past. We were all locked under death by Adam’s sin, even the second death. But when Jesus became (he was God in the beginning) man and died for the sins of the world, he gave us access back to the tree of life (himself) which Adam had caused us to lose. That’s what grace is, our free gift our access back to the tree of life but that’s another lesson for another time. So by coming under the blood of Jesus you are saved from your past sins. And if you are saved now, it is on a day to day basis. Because for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Romans 23:3), and if you continue to live you will sin again. It is the willful sinning that you need to put in check. For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. (Hebrew 10: 26, 27)

But submitting to the commandments of Moses is an act of disobedience not an act of faith. Faith acts in trusting ourselves wholly to Christ for salvation ... that we have done.
A man asked Jesus this very question, "...What good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?", and Jesus replied, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. (Matthew 19:16-19).

Throughout the bible we find that in order to receive eternal salvation we must keep God's commandments to the end. If we make a mistake we must not give up, but I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:13-14). The last chapter in the whole bible reminds us of this one last time. "Blessed are they that do his commandments that they may have right to the tree of life." (Revelation 22:14). After this we find only seven more verses in the bible, and none of them does away with God's commandments.

The commandments of God are not hard to keep (I John 5:3) and furthermore, they teach us love in the highest degree. If you love Jesus you will keep his commandments (St. John 14:15). You will not displease the Lord by: Worshipping other gods, having graven images, taking his name in vain, breaking his Sabbath day (which is Saturday not Sunday), or dishonoring your parents. On the other hand, if you love your neighbor as yourself you will not kill him, commit adultery with his spouse, steal from him, falsely accuse him, or covet anything of his.

There must be two laws or the bible would be controdicting itself.
The sacrificial laws and types that pointed to salvation ended when Type meet antitype. (Schoolmaster, shadow...)
People can keep or obey laws for different motive, and this is the difference.

If i aim to gain salvation by keeping the sabbath and the rest of the law, I'm doing what Abraham and Hagar did to produce children. I'm not trusting God and trying to do it in my own strength.

If i keep the Sabbath and the rest of the law because God has written it on my heart and because i delight to do His will. I'm being a child of promise. Abraham and Sarah needed to let God work a mirical. I'm allowing God by faith to give me the fruit of the Spirit and obedience that He promises to create in us.

If you throw away the moral law God can't fulfill the promise of the new covenant.

Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

That's right! This is true love, and if obeyed how much better would our world be? This is why Jesus said that the two greatest commandments are loving the Lord with all your heart, soul, and mind; and loving your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:35-40). These two commandments are the foundation of the entire law. Many reject the law, but it is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good (Romans 7:12) even today.

(See exodus 20: 1-17)
You cannot be justified before God through your law-keeping because you are a sinner...

Your only justification therefore can be the blood of Jesus through which you can be forgiven of all of your sins.

Of course you must repent of being a sinner in order to obtain this forgiveness in that you should receive Jesus not only as your Saviour but as your Lord.

But the fact of the matter is that you have sinned (1 John 1:10, Romans 3:23) and that your sins testify that you are guilty before a holy God (Romans 3:19-20).

There is no hope of redemption for you except you be forgiven of the sins that you have committed.

You cannot be forgiven through turning over a new leaf apart from receiving Jesus as your Lord and Saviour and what He did for you on the Cross.

And being justified through law-keeping is an alternative way of being justified than receiving forgiveness through the blood of Jesus.

Therefore, if you seek to be justified through the law, you are not forgiven / justified through the blood of Jesus.

And therefore, the sins that you have committed (1 John 1:10, Romans 3:23) will testify against you on your day of judgment that you did not keep the law perfectly and therefore you will be found to be a sinner deserving of judgment and wrath.

All of that might have been avoided if you would have received the forgiveness that Jesus offers and put no trust in your own ability to keep the law to save you.

It does not mean that you would not keep the righteousness of the law. For if you receive Jesus, you receive the Holy Spirit; and if you walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit, the righteousness of the law will be fulfilled in you (Romans 8:4).

But the venue by which you keep the law would not be through attempting to obey a set of do's and don'ts. Rather, it would be the fruit that you bear as a Christian that would cause you to behave in such a manner that there would be no law against your behaviour (Galatians 5:22-23).

This being a righteousness apart from the law that is nevertheless attested to by the law and the prophets (Romans 3:21) that it is righteousness indeed.

You cannot truly love the Lord apart from faith in Jesus Christ (Galatians 3:14, Romans 5:5).

And the law is not of faith (Galatians 3:12). Of course the verse in question refers to how we are justified...

We are justified either through faith or through keeping the law.

In order to be justified through keeping the law, you must obey the law perfectly from conception into eternity (Galatians 3:10, James 2:10, Matthew 5:48).

No one has ever done that except for ONE...our Lord Jesus Christ...and He died for our sins.

His perfect life is applied to the one who has faith in Him and what He did on the Cross...and that one's sins are applied to Jesus as He died in that one's place on the Cross, taking the penalty for his sins.

Sins that I commit five minutes from now (in the future) will be in the past five minutes and 1 second from now; and they can be forgiven when I confess them to the Lord (1 John 1:9).

Before I confess them, my position in Christ does not change because I sinned; but koinoneia / fellowship is broken when we sin.
