Mark 10:17As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”18“Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 19You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.’[SUP]d[/SUP]20“Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.”21Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”22At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.23Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!”24The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, “Children, how hard it is[SUP]e[/SUP] to enter the kingdom of God! 25It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”26The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, “Who then can be saved?”27Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”

Why is it that many will use this passage to deny that Jesus is God whereas a careful reading shows otherwise?
The question was how to inherit the kingdom of God and the answer that Jesus gave was:
Matt 5:3
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
But Jesus disguised the answer in a manner to suggest that the man was rich in spirit (Not physical riches). Reading carefully, we realize the richness in spirit that the man had was to consider Jesus as being a good teacher only instead of good God.

Meh, sorry. Can't read. Tiny font, plus too much red. Just looking at both gives me a headache.

Jesus is good. Jesus is God incarnate.

It is the goodness of God that leads men to repentance.

The goodness and severity of God are seen on the Mount when Moses interceded for Israel.

Sister it was not worth reading he seems to think that the context reads that the young man was rich in spiritual things and we know if that were true then Jesus would not have saked him to sale all and give to the poort. It is just another twisting of the Scripture by some unknown person and their fellower come on here and posts it as if it is Gospel truth.

It is natural for some people to find worthless what others find worthy. There's nothing that is universally worthless.

I find verse 20 worthy of noting, “Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.”21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. I love this verse, Then Jesus Christ ask's him to leave everything and follow him, but he went away sorrowful.

We know that the disciples left everything for Jesus Christ, His chosen 12.

IMO, it is an important lesson that explains further Matt 5:3 (poor in spirit inheriting the kingdom of God) because the precise question that Jesus was asked is: What was to be done to inherit the kingdom of God. All of Jesus' answer pertaining to that question should be summarized as: The man could not inherit the kingdom of God because he rich in spirit and the only spiritual component the man portrayed was that he thought Jesus was a good teacher and not a good God.

Even the disciples misunderstood and their conclusion from that lesson was: no man can inherit the kingdom of God if everyone was to sell everything they had and help the poor. Jesus corrected them by telling them with God everything is possible.

There's no doctrine in the entire bible that teaches people to sell their personal properties or share their properties with the poor so as to attain righteousness.

Rev 3:17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have grown wealthy andneed nothing.’ But you do not realize that you arewretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked. 18I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, white garments so that you may be clothed and your shameful nakedness not exposed, and salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.

I agree that Jesus is both God and good. To say that He is the good God seems to imply that there might be one or more other gods and I don't allow that possibility.

1 Corinthians 8

1Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.
2And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
3But if any man love God, the same is known of him.
4As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
5For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
6But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
7Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.
8But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.
9But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
10For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;
11And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
12But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
13Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.

Context is key. I think this speaks more to the things we make idols or gods (ie money, fame etc) than actual other gods like say zeus.
