This may sound like an odd question..

But does Jesus intercede for His people ie, Christians.

Sorry I omitted something from post.

If we are 'sinles' why would we need an ongoing intercessor?

Romans 8:34 NASB
"who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us."

Hi Phil36, The devil is called the accuser of the brethren so that, "if I were sinless" (I am not) and the devil bears false witness against me then in that case I would need an ongoing intercessor. To be sinless or not we would still need Jesus Christ to intercede on our behalf.

We need an ongoing intercessor because we are in the flesh and not perfect yet. Even though we are Christians and do not deliberately live in sin, we do sin. Just our being human makes us weak in the flesh. We have faults, we have weaknesses, we have shortcomings, etc. Jesus needs to pray to God for us to forgive us all these, as Jesus said be ye holy as I am holy. We are not holy on this earth, so we need His intercession. No sin will enter Heaven, so if He did not pray for God's mercy, we would not enter Heaven either. Also, it says in Romans, that IF we sin, we have a mediator praying to God for us.

We are, as humans, not sinless... but rather righteous. Our sin is simply not counted as unrighteousness BECAUSE Christ is our mediator and intercessor between God and us.
