a lot of sinners think they are 'clean' sinners, or 'okay' sinners, not too bad.
as corrie ten boom pointed out decades ago, as it is in Scripture,
the only ones Jesus can't help are the ones who think they are good. i.e. not so bad, not corrupt.
mentally admitting to themselves that they are a sinner, but not realizing they are totally corrupt, has led to (or been caused by) a lot of deception by the enemy.
when someone is detestable in God's Sight, and then gets saved, all the angels in heaven rejoice over that one,
and that one is so grateful and thankful and full of praise for God and seeks in every way to honor God who saved them by the blood of Jesus.
some who never thought of themselves as corrupt and detestable, thing God owes them a favor or that God is so lucky to get them on His Side. !!
