There are a ton of 'There was a certain man' start-outs of story lessons for the disciples/apostles/EVERYONE to learn.

Does it say somewhere in scripture that Jesus' words do not come back 'void?'

So, if Jesus uses a certain word, LOL, does this not mean He is with GREAT purpose for that word?

Jesus spoke in everyday language to the people, He didn't speak in some weird language only a handful of folk could understand. He spoke in no uncertain germen, LOL, so that everyone, even the pun ditz (get it, pun dít-OH, never mind ;) )

POINT is this, and, sorry, IF i lost ya (Nods, you're not in the room are ya, or, julieannie, two of miladies in the singles forum, and, Yeah, the Lord leads, rate your heart out, not-my-dudes, I have lots and lots of ladies, like Solomon but in a Godly way, LOL ///

0k, I am in stride to finish my point now, the word 'certain' as defined in the dictionary is as follows:
Certain

Adjective: Known for sure; established beyond doubt.

Pronoun: Some but not all: "certain of his works have been edited".

Synonyms: adjective. sure - positive - definite - secure - assured - confident pronoun. some - Merriam-Webster

----
So, what do you think, how CERTAIN are you now that parables are NOT TRUE.

If Jesus was certain of the people in them, wouldn't that make them not characters in a story, like 'Abraham' in the story of ' Lazarus (the beggar) and Dives (rich man)? <=== this the story of Luke 16: 19-31.

Why would Jesus use the word certain to describe a man ?

Is it certain to anyone else that Jesus would not have used the word 'certain' unless He was telling a true story or true parable that was of a TRUE , KNOWN man who really existed ?

JESUS , FOR CERTAIN, KNEW LAZARUS AND THE RICH MAN .
JESUS, FOR CERTAIN, KNEW THE CERTAIN GOOD STEWARD MAN.
JESUS, FOR CERTAIN, KNEW.....

THE list goes on an on.....

He said this 'certain' word a whole lot in the books of the gospel, matt., mark., Luke, john...

I was hoping someone would do the work for me but, alas, I am too confusing, 'spose, in my opening post, so, I am going to go through scripture and list how many times Christ uses the word 'certain' in gospels' scripture, Including the context said.

Wow! The Lord leads. I guess, this is what I will do next. Of this, I am certain unless I am stopped . :D
Certain. I wonder why no one else sees this, but Jesus could easily say....

' Once there was a man' or 'There was a man' either of which explain fairytaleness, for no lack of a better word, LOL :D

But, yeah, Christ sibs, Jesus uses the word 'certain' in there which is such a word of sure power, not to mention, sheer power.

'Certain' defined so MAKES a parable or story true ! Doesn't it, am I all alone on this . How did I get so alone. Alone . My, sounds, like I am singing a certain rock sing from 80s by a great couple Seattle girls. ;)

So , certainly, I am not a bad animal for rocking out in epiphony as this dies off uncertainty of Jesus' many 'certain' scriptures in the gospels.

The definition of this intriguing word....

Certain: Known for sure, Established beyond doubt .

Peeps, Jesus, IF the 'certain' word is believed to be Jesus' way to prove 'certain' stories are true then what does this Truth do to any argument that involves the word 'certain' said by Jesus ?

You raise an interesting point concerning all parables being based on true events that may have taken place even during the life time of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We will never know that to be rue untill we are abel to ask Him personally, but we do know that was not really the point of a parable, and the listeners understood that fact. Although I believe it was also understood by all who were listening that the story of Lazarus and the Richman was a true account, or at least they understood that Jesus thought it was a true account.
