No, this is not a competition.
Just an implementation of 2 Timothy 4.
But this thread has made it into a competition, who is the best?, who do you like better? Who do you like more? isn't that biased?

Oppression, condemnation and ridicule?

If a doctor who knows that his patient is suffering from heart cancer, yet he didn't tell the patient about it, but just ask him to smile, be happy and you will have your best life now. What will you say to such doctor?

Yes, oppression, condemnation and ridicule. Soon as the video on him begins he is ridiculing a fellow believer and Pastor Joel O. A doctor who would make fun of my life making me the brunt of jokes, and what I believe and how I communicate to people etc... as something evil....would not be my doctor. He isn't talking about truth, he is belittling someone. He isn't trying to heal heart cancer he is attaching someones character. that has nothing to do with Bible truth., it has to do with something the Bible condemns-frying a brother.

I also avoid people who find the need to belittle others in order to make themselves and their message have some validity.
A person who needs to do this is not someone who deserves my time. When a pastor fries someone in front of a crowd it is shameful in my opinion. If you find that edifying and want to compare this behavior to a good doctor??? well, it's your life and your time.

The first time I saw Joel Osteen on TV. My discernment went full force and all I could think of was anti-Christ.

I concur! What boggles my mind is how anyone claiming to walk with Christ cannot see how osteens words contradict Christ' words.

Ill finish like crossnote did: Im not judging, its just my opinion

Talking about choosing between two evils...

I wonder why angela "liked" this when she admitted she doesnt know who washer is and doesnt plan to find out! Talk about mindless follow the leader crud!!

Which btw, I like washer. I understand his passion. I dont expect those who like watered down doctrine to appreciate him:)

It is always easier to find fault with people then it is to find out what is right with them. Those of us who do appreciate Joel O. have observed his concern for people who are learning the first things about Jesus. But he is by no means watering down the gospel. What he does is described in the Bible as dealing with people according to knowledge. Those who don't get that have nothing but criticism and judgment against him.

I've done my fair share of quick judgement against people years ago in my younger days so I can't help but give you and others much grace in this area.. There are different ways people deal with others they have questions about... #1 is to totally discredit them along with everyone else who jumps on the popular bandwagon of hating Joel O. in that mob mentality. #2 is to hold off on that sort of thing and allow God to bring out the truth as we follow the Bible's admonition to love one another as He has loved us. You may not have as many people giving you the high five but the higher road is usually one that just a few are on.

#2 NEVER brings regrets. But #1 ALWAYS brings regret and the added burden of shame.

Follow them if you can afford them. Olsteen is building communities not seeking converts.

I'm not into entertainment evangelism.

All I want is expository bible preaching by someone who knows the book and believes Jesus.

Don't need the latest greatest self help book and don't need any cds. I get too much trash from the world I don't need any from that which calls itself church.

I remember the days of Oral Roberts, Jimmy Sweigart not to mention Jimmy and Tammy Fay Bakker. My momma always told me if you lie down with the dogs don't be surprised when you get fleas.

It is you ladylynn that doesnt GET IT. You reveal your understanding by sticking up for the modern day charlaton.

  • 1) 1 Timothy 4:1 says "Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons..."

  • 2) 2 Timothy 4:3-4 says "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables."

3)Ephesians 5:11 Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.

[h=3] 4)
2 Corinthians 11:13-15

[/h]
[h=3][/h][h=3] [/h] For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.

Osteen is the judgement for those who want their ears tickled....

Yes yes blondy so you have said many times before about me and then some. And just like before you are incorrect yet again. I've heard J.O. and many times and do not find any of those verses to apply to him. Lord bless him and may his numbers increase.

P.S. It's an interesting observation to be here on these Christian chat boards. I know what it feels like to be accused falsely and dismissed as someone who is giving out a false message. And I'm here mostly every day and those who take the time to know me know I'm not spreading a false gospel. If I was they could certainly mount up enough evidence against me to be rid of me a long time ago.
And yet here I still am. People like Joel O. who people do not get to know on a daily basis, just on clips here and there never consistent, never in person, are fried all the time. And so it goes. I'm thankful not to be on the bandwagon finding fault with other Christians because from first hand I know how wrong you are. Maybe it takes being fried to understand what it feels like to BE fried so as NOT to fry someone else. Treat others as you would like to be treated.

I have looked into both of these deceivers. My discernment tells me these guys are part of the warm-up band for the anti-Christ.

May God's grace be shown to you. Paul Washer was not making fun of Joel Osteen, he simply describes what the bible says on preachers like him. False teachers.

That's the rare word being practiced nowadays. Discernment.
If you discern, it is the same as you oppress, condemn and ridicule.

Lord have mercy

If Joel Osteen does not water down the gospel, please let me know the below:

John 3:18-19
18 “He that believeth in Him is not condemned; but He that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.19 And this is the condemnation: that Light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Can these teachings be found in Joel Osteen's book or preaching? If not, that's not the full counsel of gospel.

Finding fault? So you acknowledged that Joel Osteen was in 'fault'.

Paul Washer was deceiving? Care to explain your thought? I would love to be free from such deceit (if it is true).
