read John 1:19-31 these are my notes 19-20 the jews were looking for the messiah to come and were wondering if John was the messiah or Christ if they were listening they would know John was not the messiah by what he was preaching 21 the priests have a hang up about Elijah rember when Jesus is on the cross crying my God or Eli and they thought of Elijah instead of God this makes me think the may have been some who prayed through Elijah 22 they started to question his authority 23 John quoted scripture when people question God's will in our life it is best to quote scripture 24 the pharisees come and look to be honored because they feel they were higher then everybody else 25 they get upset that he did not need to go to them to start what God had him to do we do not persion to do things God has us do scripture and the Spirit are our authority now if it is of God there will be a open door the thing they did not know that the Prophet would be the Messiah and is God in the flesh 26-28 I thing this may have made them scratch there heads but he was talking about Jesus. Jesus was before him because He is God and we are not worthy to be God's servants but he loves us so much that we may be his sons though Christ's blood on the cross 28 the Jordan was flooded during part of the year so it would be easy to baptise by submersion 29 John presents the gospel to many these words could only come from God they are so deep and this is before Jesus every said He was who He was 30-31 Jesus came to Israel it easy to seperate Jew and Christian today but rember in the time of Jesus they were the smae they were the same till Paul preached the gospel to the non jew
