Did Caiaphas have faith in Jesus Christ? This is not a bait and attack thread; I honestly don’t know and am wondering what others believe.

Yes he did he was prophesying how Jesus would die for all nations this is why he said to them you know nothing he was high priest he could have stopped them but didn't because he knew that Jesus had to die

The prophesy in verse 52 was prophesied by Jacob (Gen. 49:10) more than 1,400 years before Caiaphas was born.

Balaam was filled with the Holy Ghost and spoke the inspired word of God (Num. 24:2–4, 16) before God killed him (Num. 31:8) and cast him into outer darkness (2 Pet. 2:14–17; Jude 11–13).

John 18:28-19:22

King James Version

28 Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover.

No. He did not have faith in Jesus Christ. Indeed he was one of the enemies of Christ. But he could not avoid saying what he said. Perhaps just like Balaam, he prophesied in spite of himself.

According to the Parable of the Vineyard in Matthew Chapter 21, the servants knew who the Heir was (v.38). And in verse 45 it is; "And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them."

They all knew Who Jesus was. But salvation is built on two things. Knowing Who Jesus is and ADMITTING it. Romans 10:9-10 teaches;

9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

So also did Peter before the resurrection in Matthew 16.

John 11:51 Caiaphas did not say this on his own. Instead, as high priest that year, he was prophesying that Jesus would die for the nation, 52 and not only for the nation, but also for the scattered children of God, to gather them together into one.

53 So from that day on they plotted to kill Him. 54 As a result, Jesus no longer went about publicly among the Jews, but He withdrew to a town called Ephraim in an area near the wilderness. And He stayed there with the disciples.

Matthew 26
57 Those who had seized Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas, the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together.
58 But Peter was following Him at a distance as far as the courtyard of the high priest, and entered in, and sat down with the officers to see the outcome.
59 Now the chief priests and the whole Council kept trying to obtain false testimony against Jesus, so that they might put Him to death.
60 They did not find any, even though many false witnesses came forward. But later on two came forward,
61 and said, “This man stated, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and to rebuild it in three days.’ ”
62 The high priest stood up and said to Him, “Do You not answer? What is it that these men are testifying against You?”
63 But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest [Caiaphas] said to Him, “I adjure You by the living God, that You tell us whether You are the Christ, the Son of God.
64 Jesus *said to him, “You have said it yourself; nevertheless I tell you, hereafter you will see THE SON OF MAN SITTING AT THE RIGHT HAND OF POWER, and COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN.”
65 Then the high priest tore his robes and said, “He has blasphemed! What further need do we have of witnesses? Behold, you have now heard the blasphemy;
66 what do you think?” They answered, “He deserves death!
67 Then they spat in His face and beat Him with their fists; and others slapped Him,

68 and said, “Prophesy to us, You Christ; who is the one who hit You?”

Caiaphas, the Saducee, set the heavy persecution and eventual crucifixion of the Lord in motion. He was among the leaders who stirred up the Jewish people to insist on the Lord's crucifixion when Pilate wanted to release Him, and he continued to persecute the Lord's followers after His death and resurrection.

"Caiaphas’s story is a tragic one. Caiaphas was someone who was faced with the reality of who Jesus is and yet denied the Truth that literally stood before him. As high priest Caiaphas had wealth, an honorable position, and the respect of the people, but he was deficient in the one area that truly matters: saving faith in Jesus Christ." ~https://www.gotquestions.org/Caiaphas-in-the-Bible.html

Hello again @Duskey, remember too that when the chief priests asked Pilate to secure the Lord's grave, he told them to secure it themselves, so they had His tomb sealed and guarded by their own men. It was also these same guards (who shook with fear and became like dead men on the morning of the Lord's resurrection) who gave them all a first hand account of what happened, that Jesus' tomb was empty and that He had risen from the dead. This is why Caiaphas and the rest of the Sanhedrin created the story/the lie that His followers had stolen His body away during the night .. e.g. Matthew 28:1-15.

IOW, Caiaphas, the high priest and Sadducee, knew that the Lord had risen from the dead. Unfortunately, he held dear one of the principle claims/dogmas of the Sadducees, that there is no afterlife, as more important than the truth.
