Why do you think that is?
When a person confesses Christ, and receives the Spirit, they grow in Christ which they get more Christlike as time goes on, for that is the direction they are going.

The world is motivated by self exaltation, which selfishness, and arrogance, stem from that, so as time goes on the world gets worse in that behavior.

Ever since Adam and Eve sinned the world has been headed towards the beast kingdom in Revelation 13, for that is the direction they are going, and they get worse in being selfish, and arrogant, as time goes on.

Which the beast kingdom will come about when the transgressors have come to the full, which they are their worse concerning their self exalting ways, giving heed to the new age movement as standard religion, based on evolution, and people can still evolve to be greater, and spiritual, and honor the God of forces, or the power of nature as their higher power, and interpret all religions that way.

Which is when the falling away comes about, which is the condition of the world in response to the Gospel, which the nations came together to try to establish peace on earth, and was a hate crime for anybody to preach anything contrary to the new age movement.

Paul said evil men shall wax worse, and worse, deceiving, and being deceived, and the last generation the children will not obey their parents, highly selfish, and highly arrogant, and pure in their eyes but not washed from their filthiness, and they will devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.

Which cannot happen without technology that we have today, for it caused money, and material things to flow like a raging river, and worldly entertainment to be enjoyed, like no other time in history, and it brought out the selfishness, and arrogancy, to a level never seen before as they try to heap those things to themselves, and enjoy those worldly things.

Which Jesus said since iniquity shall abound the love of many shall wax cold, and after years of people heaping to themselves, and enjoying the world, the attitude came about that people basically care about themselves with little regard for anybody else, so you do not care about me, I do not care about you.

And then the attitude is get all you can get, and forget everybody else, and they stop caring for each other's feelings as much as they did, and do not love people as they once did.

Because before technology people were basically on the same level, an equal level, basically going by their needs, so they did not have anything to really grab unto to exalt themselves, so people viewed people as basically caring, loving, and decent.

And if there was people that had the desire to be rich, and the opportunity, they could only branch out so far, and could only get so much, so it was not enough money, and not enough people, to cause them to not like each other because of the greed of those few people.

Because as long as people do not have anything to grab unto to exalt themselves people can get along great with each other, and view each other as caring individuals.

But technology changed that by causing people to branch out farther, and reaching more people to make money, and money, and material things flowing big time, and the enjoyment of the finer things in life, and as the people went for it according to the nature of the flesh, and enjoyed all the things that technology brought about in great abundance, they liked each other less.

The nature has always been there, but the conditions to bring it out to such a high level were not there.

And now it is a vicious cycle, for at the start they heaped, but it was not that much at first, so they started to not like each other as much, though very little, and then they heaped more, and they did not like each other more, and they heaped more, and did not like each other more, and round and round it goes.

To where today they will knock you down, kick you around, not care about your feeling, shoot you up at school, and are more violent towards each other, because the attitude is you do not care about me, I do not care about you, and they do not care about people's feelings like they used to in the past.

Now they have the new age movement, and the children, and youth are going to eat it up, and love it, for they are already taught evolution, and many believe it, and love the super hero movies, and all the insecure people that live in a world that is based on success of money, and material things, and prestige, and honor, as great sports star, movie stars, and the such, but they do not have it, but they want it too.

Now they have something to grab unto to exalt themselves which transcends money, and material things, and prestige, and honor, in the world that is of the natural realm.

For the new age movement interprets religion, including the Bible, according to the occult, and evolution, and are waiting for the New Age Christ to cause them to evolve to be greater, and spiritual, and they can be stronger, faster, invincible, cannot die, and do not have to eat.

Which ask a child would they rather be superman, or have a billion dollars, and you know the response you would get, for being superman, and also where money does not matter, for you do not have to eat, transcends all the money the world has to offer in exalting one self.

And all the people who think they are inferior, and insecure, low self esteem, not considered successful according to the natural realm, a low life, will now have something to grab unto to exalt themselves, and say how do you like us now, for your money does not mean jack when I can whip a fireball upside your bony head, and cause a tidal wave to knock down your house.

I am superman, hear me roar.

Yep, the children, and the youth, are going to love it.

Continued,

But of course it is all the imagination of their mind the new age movement, and there is no power to be had through nature, but because of evolution, they believe why would we stop evolving, and believe they can still evolve, for the evolution process is not done yet, for it will take them all the way to being spiritual.

Provided by the New Age Christ, who they say Lucifer, a Solar Angel, descended to earth years ago, thus the fall for that is how they interpret it, and brought the principle of mind to the then known animal-man, and will return to help them evolve to be greater, and spiritual, so they do not know what they are getting themselves in to as the devil is trying to get the nations to come together as one, which the new age movement does not believe the New Age Christ will help them to evolve until the nations come together as one to try to establish peace on earth.

Which it is underway, WW1, League of Nations, WW2, United Nations, and organizations for the harmonizing of religions.

WW3, Islam against the world as they rebel against the new age movement when it comes to power a the unified religious system, and all religions interpreted as such, and international law that nothing can be taught contrary to the new age movement, and evolution, and Islam will feel they have no choice but to fight for their religion, and their personal God Allah.

That war which is so terrible it will cause the world to accept the beast kingdom, which was the plan all along, and controlled conflict brings about controlled change, constructive chaos.

With all that being said, going back to the world is going in the direction of self exaltation, so they get worse as time goes on, that it is worse in their behavior today than in time past.

And we know that there has always been hypocrites in the Church since it started, but it is much worse now because of the increased selfishness, and arrogance, and self exaltation, so that will creep in to the Churches, for the children are growing up in a much different world than years ago, and the word of God gets watered down among many of them, and they believe that they can be like the world, and have worldly ways, and still be right with God.

And since there is way more people today than years ago, that also causes an increase in the number of hypocrites.

Which the Bible says there will be a lot of hypocrites at the end time.

They have a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof, from such turn away because of their hypocrisy, for they are led of the flesh, and not the Spirit, ever learning but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth, and lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God, which there are plenty of fleshy pleasures, and worldliness for them to enjoy.

They are neither hot, or cold, but lukewarm, and say they are rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing, but they are wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.

The world gets worse in self exaltation as time goes on for that is the direction they are going, and the conditions of technology, and advancement, caused it to increase.

There has always been hypocrites since the start of the Church, so the hypocrisy will get worse for that is the direction the hypocrites are going as their false teachings provide, and the conditions of technology, and advancement of the world, cause it to increase.

To where it is now with money, and material things flowing like a raging river, fleshy pleasures, worldly entertainment, and the finer things in life, all increased, to where the word of God is watered down among many of them, and many of the people who claim Christ will seek those things, and enjoy them, like the world enjoys them.

So it will be low in number of the people that actually are led of the Spirit, and stay away from the world, and it's ways.

And now with the new age movement, and it's false interpretation of the Bible that God warns the saints about(1 Timothy 4:1-5;2 Timothy 4:2-4), based on the occult, and evolution, and people can still evolve, which the Bible says some shall depart from the faith, and follow them, the hypocrisy will increase even more, and will transcend the hypocrisy of money, and material things, and worldliness, for it is more appealing to them, and a greater value to them in self exaltation.

Anyway. i would offer there is no way people wouldnt believe what the Bible says or have a 'biblical worldview' without the Holy Ghost. Because he leads us into all truth. Without the gift of salvation, the Bible is just another book to people.
So are you saying the 9ish% are the only ones born again?

"For several years, The Barna Group has been tracking how many people possess a “biblical worldview.”
The only problem is that few will disclose their true beliefs to total strangers, let alone to people they know. One could lie for every question presented and skew the results.

Well I dont know the Barna group whether their sample is representative I mean its only american churchgoers they asked. And plus a survey is just a snap shot in time you cant say that will stay constant. Everyone can come to faith at different times of life as well.

If you think about the sower and the seed, well huge amounts of seed fell on rocky ground, or got eaten by birds, or there were weeds choking it. Some didnt get enough water. The ones that fell on good ground also had different yields but these ones did bear fruit. I supoose its like the Bible says many are called, few are chosen.

You think about the ten lepers that got healed by Jesus. Only one came back to thank him.
Of the two million people led out of Egypt, only two, Caleb and Joshua could enter the Promised Land.
i dont know how many people were on earth at the time of Noah...but only eight in Noahs family were saved in the ark.
You count up the number of the tribes of Israel deemed to enter heaven it was 144,000 what percentage of that was from all the souls of isrealites? Why was there only a remnant?

So I think maybe those stats are indicating something...would we rejoice if 100 percent of christians had a biblical worldview? Well sure but something like faith how can you measure that. I think God knows for sure whether you are faithful or not although I dont think He will give you a pop quiz or survey to fill out when you enter Heaven.

Jesus once said when the son of man comes will he find faith on earth? Luke 18

Well here is a pie chart from a different survey on Bible reading.
It’s interesting that the 9% figure shows up here too .

The genealogy of Moses, Aaron, and Miriam illustrates all of the points made above and helps provide a clearer understanding of biblical genealogies. Because of the central importance of these three figures, their genealogy is given four different times in Scripture (Exodus 6:1620; Numbers 26:5759; and 1 Chronicles 6:13; 23:6, and 1213) and much supporting information can also be gleaned from other Scripture references.

Each of the Mosaic genealogies lists the same four generations (Levi to Kohath to Amram to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam). By cross-referencing the genealogies with other Scripture verses, we can clearly establish that they are telescoped. We know both Levi and his son, Kohath, entered Egypt (Genesis 46:527; Exodus 1:14), which was 430 years before the Exodus (Exodus 12:4041; Acts 7:6). Since Moses was 80 years old at the time of the Exodus (Exodus 7:7), from Kohath to Amram to Moses spans at least 350 years! A typical generation is 20 to 40 years, so one would expect that these genealogies span between 10 and 20 generations. We find in 1 Chronicles 7:2027 that the genealogy of Ephraim extended down to Joshua, which covers the same period of history as the Mosaic genealogies. Joseph (brother of Levi) and his son Ephraim were alive when the Israelites settled in Egypt (Genesis 41:52; 46:27). There are 12 generations listed from Joseph to Joshua. Since Joshua was alive at the time of the Exodus and was a contemporary of Moses, these 12 generations span the 430-year stay in Egypt. This would fit nicely with a generation being about 40 years. Thus, this genealogy gives (at least) 12 generations that correspond to the same time period as the 4 generations of the Mosaic genealogies. (See Table 3, The Genealogies of Moses and Joshua.) Yet another evidence for telescoping is that Kohath’s descendents at the time of Moses numbered 8,600 men (Numbers 3:27, 28) of whom 2,750 were between the age of 30 and 50 (Numbers 4:36). This number of descendents is inexplicable if this genealogy is not telescoped and Kohath was Moses’ grandfather. Based on these arguments, we can conclude that the Mosaic genealogies are perhaps only 20 to 40 percent complete.

Was Amram the immediate father of Moses and Aaron, or was he their ancestor? A number of evidences show there were quite a few generations separating Amram and Moses:9

  1. Kohath to Amram to Moses spans 350 years (as discussed above) and hence requires unnamed generations
  2. Amram and his wife, Jochebed, are mentioned in Exodus 6 as giving rise to Moses. Yet in the account of Exodus 2, the names of Moses’ parents are conspicuously absent. They are simply referred to as “a man of the house of Levi” (vs. 2:1), “a Levite woman” (vs. 2:1), and “the baby’s mother” (vs. 2:8).This makes little sense if Amram and Jochebed are Moses’ mother and father.
  3. 1 Chronicles 24:20 lists the descendents of Amram but does not mention Aaron, Moses, and Miriam; neither does the Exodus account mention additional brothers for Moses.
  4. Jochebed, Amram’s wife, is referred to as the daughter of Levi (Numbers 26:59) and Amram’s father’s (Kohath’s) sister (Exodus 6:20), which would place Jochebed with her brother, Kohath, at the entrance of the Israelites into Egypt. Thus, she would have to be at least 350 years old when she gave birth to Moses if there were no gaps in the Mosaic genealogies!

Based on this evidence, we recognize that many generations separate Amram and Jochebed and their children, Aaron, Moses, and Miriam. In Exodus 6:20 and Numbers 26:59, Jochebed is said to “bear” (“begat,” yalad) them while 1 Chronicles 6:3 and 23:13 describe them as sons (ben). Thus, both son (ben) and begat (yalad) are used synonymously here to refer to a distant descendent in a genealogy.

In conclusion, we find that the Mosaic genealogies are highly telescoped (perhaps 20 to 40 percent complete). Only critical namesthose corresponding to his tribe (Levi), division (Kohath), and clan (Amram)are given; the remaining names between Amram and Moses are ignored. Both the term son (ben) and begat (yalad) are applied interchangeably to the relationship between Amram and Moses, yet at least eight generations separate the two men (i.e., ben and yalad are used to mean ancestor rather than immediate son). This genealogy is highly telescoped, yet the genealogy itself does not indicate if it is complete or where gaps are. Only by cross-referencing other Scripture verses or looking at historical sources were we able to determine whether or not the genealogy was telescoped.
The Genesis Genealogies

In most cases it’s not very controversial that many (or even most) biblical genealogies are telescoped. However, the genealogies of Genesis 5 and 11 differ in at least one respect. We see the repeated formula, “When X had lived Y years, he became the father of (i.e. ‘begat’, yalad) Z” (NIV), rather than simply “X was the father of Y” or “X the son of Y” as we see elsewhere in the Bible. So, some argue that our conclusions about other biblical genealogies may not apply to Genesis 5 and 11. Those holding Ussher’s chronology estimate that Adam and Eve were created around 6,000 years ago based on the assumption that the Genesis genealogies are complete (see Table 6, Genesis Genealogies). Nothing in the text, however, requires that these genealogies be complete. Bible scholars who hold that the genealogies are telescoped would place the creation of Adam and Eve at around 10 to 30,000 years ago but perhaps as late as 60,000 years ago.10 Some have tried to push the genealogies so far back that they suggest Adam and Eve might have been Neanderthals (or Homo erectus or australopithecines); however, this claim is unsupported and so is rejected by the vast majority of Bible scholars. But who’s right? What should we conclude about these genealogies?

In the example of the Mosaic genealogies (above), it was possible to be very firm in our conclusions due to the abundance of biblical and historical details surrounding these events. The opposite is true for the Genesis genealogies. From the time of Abraham on, there is widespread consensus regarding dates and chronology. However, for the time period before Abraham, which is covered by the Genesis genealogies, there is very little biblical or historical information on which to build solid chronological details. Without such supporting information, we would do well to tread lightly and avoid being dogmatic about our conclusions. Still, while we can’t be conclusive in regards to the nature of the Genesis genealogies, there are a number of points that can be made.

Sad to say yes . Also just asking someone if they are a Christian could result in a dishonest answer.
It’s why folks sometimes doubt the results of polls.
Normally when organizations do polling they try to get a large enough sampling to compensate for those that answer dishonestly and anomalies.
My opinion is that polling seems to be more of a art than a science. If it were a science results would be a bit more accurate than they are at times .
Cool thread though I like some of the posts that folks have put up .

We don't know who is responding. Many have the label "Christian" but it may not be exactly who they are.
Barna is known for asking very specific control questions to weed that out thus the small percentage of error. Did you look at their website or links posted?

What do you consider a Biblical World View to be?
I'm wondering what the pollsters considered a 'Christian' to be. lol

Maybe this poll actually reveals that only 9-17% who say they are Christian, actually are a Christian.
