“And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace” [James 3:18] This thread has been quite a blessing. One of my favorite words in Scripture has been rejoice and words that have the same meaning after finding the Lord tells us to do the 365 times one a day. Probably had an idea how tough that was going to do in this world.
I did a quick look and found that we are called to peace even more than we are called to rejoice 429 times He is an absolutely an amazing God and His ways are wonderful, thank you Lord for being the God you are.

You are welcome, Lafftur, and thank you! :) Heh, you reminded me: one day while I was sitting outside recently, a young man who was walking by with a delivery for a near-by business said as he was approaching me, "I spy something that is purple!" I was not feeling very well at the time, and his playful acknowledgement of my purpleness lifted my spirits :D:giggle::)

Now that we are nearing Xmas, my work will become harder with more suicidal and homeless people needing help. I try to be as patient as I can, but many days the myriad of people's problems - not just my clients, but people I meet in every day life - becomes overwhelming. People are not willing to live within their means, and we find at work that many go out before and after Xmas, spending money on junk they don't really need. It's a careless, throwaway world we live in, where objects matter more than people. My old religion didn't celebrate Xmas & I still don't celebrate it. It's a horrid time of year, with people being rude and shoving each other in the Xmas crowds. I want no part of it now.
Then I read the below scripture, and it always reminds me that we are living in the last days of this earth, and it comforts me to some degree:

New International Version (NIV)
3 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.

A Final Charge to Timothy
10 You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11 persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. 12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Jeremiah 6:14-16

14 They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.

15 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the Lord.

16 Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

At the beginning of every epistle or letter to believers, Paul, Peter, James, and John would say....

Romans 1:7 King James Version (KJV)
7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 1:3 King James Version (KJV)
3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Peter 1:2 King James Version (KJV)
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

There are many more but, all is the same. As believers, through faith in Yeshua/Jesus Christ's Blood and Body, we have PEACE WITH GOD and rest in Him. We are not frantic or worried about the end of the world or this age....God is our Peace, we are at rest in Him.

We put no confidence in the flesh. We trust in God, our Lord, Savior, and King - Yeshua/Jesus Christ. Amen.

God's Peace is available to every believer.
