I have a love/hate attitude towards Logos. I love the library and hate their application. I stopped upgrading at Logos 4. L3 was horrible (barely Windows 95 quality in an XP world), so I eagerly awaited L4. What a disappointment. IMO they didn't fix what was wrong with L3, and just went off in another direction. If I could pay money to convert my library so that I could use it on another platform that is easier and more intuitive to use, I would. I don't need or want all of their bells and whistles; I just want it to be intuitive and easy to use. For some reason that just went over their heads. For instance, I can't highlight a word, then right-click and select Word Study. Ridiculous. I can't express the grief I went through trying to conform to their idea of what they thought software should be. I won't beat my head against the wall anymore because of them.

I have used logos for awhile now. I love it. I had the precursor for years before I read somewhere that I could upgrade it. By this time logos 4 was out. so I took the plunge. I am currently using logos 5. and plan on upgrading to 6 before Christmas ends and the price goes up.

It is expensive, that is the downside. but if you can afford it. it is worthwhile (and would make a great Christmas present. so if anyone asks what you would like. maybe this is something you can get.

I am sorry to hear that!

Different strokes for different people. Not everyone can.

But for those who are going to be pastors, and can, it is a good idea.

There is also an alternative that is more affordable, Accordance.

Quickverse is cheaper and just as good for normal use.

The most I have ever paid is a few hundred dollars. You do not have to get the top of the line..

QuickVerse may in fact meet your needs. For the seminary trained pastor, however, who knows the original languages, Accordance is the minimum.

Again, I understand not everyone can even afford Accordance.

Of course one does not have to get top of the line. It depends on your skills and your purpose.

If you are not going to be seminary trained, Logos will be a waste.

However, Accordance would be great for anyone. Even the lay minister.

I am not an ordained minister. Yet Logos has been a blessing to my personal bible studies, and putting together teachings when I lead my home church for many years now..So I would not agree with you there

It is of taste and what you can afford. I am sure there are many great software programs out there.. Would recommend everyone study.. to see which is best for them.

Oh sure, Logos can be a blessing for everyone. The point I was making is that there are many features that require certain skills that not everyone has. So in most cases that must be counted in the cost.

I am glad it does help you.

that's what is so good about logos. There are so many helps. one doe snot have to be proficient in greek and Hebrew to use it. All it takes is a general understanding of how to use it, and interpret what is said. Logos does the rest.

That's why I love it.

How about diagramming the original text?
How about doing a syntactical search?
How about doing a proper word study?
How about knowing the grammar of the text?

There are things in the program that require skills on the part of the person.

I do trust the Logos scholars to an extent. But thats it, I will one day know it for myself and not have to rely only on secondary sources.
