Repentance is absolutely required, and its no easy road. But I don't ever recall an easy road being one of Gods precious promises.

Underneath are the everlasting arms.
one bright morning, when we look back on what we now find so difficult, we will wonder why we ever considered it any trouble at all =]

What does HIS word say how to be reborn.
John 3:13
No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, the Son of Man Who is in heaven.
Genesis 17:5
No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations.

perhaps you just don't understand The Answer:

Abram did not change his own name.

see Joshua 5 - they made a hill with what was removed, but physical circumcision is nothing

@Ouch

since the Son of Man said this while He was on earth,
why was He baptized?
Matthew 3:15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

Now, how does HIS word say how to be reborn.

how does HIS word say how to be reborn.
Genesis 32:28
And He said,
"Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel"
John 3:4
Nicodemus said to Him,
"How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?"
John 3:12-13
If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?
No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, the Son of Man who is in heaven.
John 3:18
He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already

So you think all you have to do is believe? What about what JESUS says in

John 3:5

King James Version

5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Same thing we have to do to fullfull OBEY HIS word
what was God obeying when God asked John to baptize Him?

what happened in the Jordan river at that spot in the testimony of the scripture that had already been given before He came?

what had Christ previously done there?
