Many will seek to enter in, and and shall not be able.

Many are called but few are chosen.

So what hindered them from obtaining if all you need is faith.

Are these people that seeked to enter in to heaven of other religions, and beliefs, and were trying to get to heaven by those means.

Or are these people that had faith, and believed Jesus as Lord and Savior, but could not enter.

Luk 13:25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
Luk 13:26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.
Luk 13:27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.

I believe Jesus is speaking in this instance that it is the people that seek to enter in to heaven by confessing Jesus, and having faith, but could not for they knocked on the door saying Lord, Lord, open unto us when they missed the resurrection, which Jesus said they shall have their portion with the hypocrites.

So what hindered them from falling short of the mark.

2Ti 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

2Ti 3:4 lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
2Ti 3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

And there are millions of them that have a form of godliness, but deny the Spirit leading them for they want to enjoy sin, and believe they are right with God despite their sins, and it does not affect their salvation, which they are ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth for they do not depart from iniquity.

America has many of these people that are hypocritical for they do not want to get rid of the fleshy pleasures that they have enjoyed for so many years, for look at society of all the people that claim Christ and look at their lifestyle for they are enjoying worldly music, movies, television, spending money for their wants, and material things that is not a necessity neglecting the poor and needy.

Isa 59:1 Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
Isa 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

This applies even when you confess Christ.

Rom 11:20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
Rom 11:21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
Rom 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

Heb 3:10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
Heb 3:11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
Heb 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
Heb 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
Heb 3:14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end.

Old Testament, New Testament, it is the same, stop sinning or you will be cut off, and do not depart from the living God by the deceitfulness of sins, so a person can depart from the truth if they hold unto sin.
I agree with all of this except that, technically, the believer who is turned away has become an ex-believer along the way somewhere and he doesn't realize it, and is deceived into thinking he still believes because of his continued association with the things and people of God, and/or his various ministry activities. That person is in for a rude awakening when Christ returns to usher in the new Day.

Reminds me of Samson, who lost the covering of God's glory through which he was made strong by living in unrepentant, sinful living and didn't even realize he'd lost God's protection until he woke up without it. It's a lesson for us to not be deceived into thinking we who have the covering of God will still continue to have the protection and power of God in our unrepentant sinning no matter what. The story ended good--I mean in an eternal sense, lol--because he came back to his senses and returned to the Lord in time. Had he not come back he would not be included in the people of God.

Better to wake up to these truths now instead of when Christ returns when it will be too late. Fill those lamps up now, and keep 'em filled up in preparation for the return of Christ.
