Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils?

I don’t think the point here is that they were lying or that it’s even about whether or not they could do the things they said. Read verse 23. He tells us WHY they are being rejected. It’s because they are doing things with out “law” or outside of God’s law. Religious people in general do not think it matters what they do in the name of religion. But , this story proves that it does. Matt. 28:18 Jesus said ALL AUTHORITY has been given to Him in heaven and on earth. That means the pope has NO authority, “traditions” are NOT authority, neither are “Boards”, councils, Associations, or Synods. None of these have any authority to change or dictate anything about God or His Word, the Bible. The Bible is our only authority because it is divinely inspired by God.

In the book of Deuteronomy, the warning to “BE CAREFUL” to obey God’s laws is written at least 13 times (I haven’t finished counting them all). It’s important to have a “Thus saith the Lord” for everything we do. Col. 3:17

Real Faith comes by hearing the word of God. Romans 10:17
I might add a good verse to go along with verse 23 in Matt. 7 is 2 John 9- “He that transgresses and does NOT ABIDE IN THE DOCTRINE OF GOD does not have God.” That seems to be the problem with the people in Matt. 7.

Mat 7:22
Many will say to me in that day,
1)Lord, Lord,
2)have we not prophesied in thy name?
3)and in thy name have cast out devils?
4)and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Mat 7:23
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

The proper interpretation regarding these grandiose claims should rightly be as follows:
1) a lie
2) a lie
3) a lie
4) a lie.
Judged by God over motive. The reason(s) why anyone is serving and helping others. I see God will judge us the people, not by what anyone does or doesn't do, by the motive(s) one is doing it.
Therefore, I see this: To ask God to teach me new and not get caught up in worldly stuff, that distracts me from true love to all.
The reason I want in? What is your reason, God already knows, time to change if it is for any self gain.
Phil 3 tasks of this misguided attitudes of the flesh nature

Technically, they were all lies, but, as many have pointed out, identifying lies isn't the point of the passage. Indeed, the whole chapter is a series of warnings. The warning in this particular passage is concerned to tell of the true substance of genuine salvation.

God just loves you too. Start with that premise in belief to see and be new, no more manipulating anyone for any self gain.
Thanks

Is it your position based on what I shared that I am manipulating others for personal gain and that I am unaware of God's love for me?

Your response is vague and no I am not suggesting, that you are doing anything wrong, I am not God. I see Psalm 82:1-7 those that play God and accuse and excuse others according to their mind sets
Yes, anything that leads to no freedom in with Father and Son, ties a noose around peoples necks. In some cases it is good to get put under Law and get choked to death. Yet, not for others, more so of that person's self to repent to God personally.

We have the Law of Liberty, we can do as we see to do. Hopefully, each will see, what is not good for them personally, then that one will quit. Yet will not quit when under Law, only quit in front of people at Church and in society, hiding their sin issue (s) , not quitting, feeling guilty. Caught in. the trap of not being good enough as they see others seems to be

EX: My eldest Brother, right before he died on Campus Crusade for Christ. He told me, all the drinking I had been doing was not good for me. I ofcoarse blew that off. Then the News of his death came to the family. I was 21, he was 31.
By being told, I was free to choose and needed to see the drinking was not good for me, so I would seriously stop it, is the purpose behind freedom given us.
It took another 6 years, for me to see it as not good for me. I stopped at Age 27, I am 67 years old now. Have not touched a drop since. I am not proud over this, or think others should quit it, by demanding it. whatever is not good for their Soul, each person, imop, needs to see this for themselves, between God and them, in order to truly quit
By me or anyone telling others, they got to do this and that, are out of place, playing God as if better than them. putting others under Law Rom 7
Read Romans 8, respond in thanksgiving and praise, seeing our first born self can't do it. we need the Ho,y Spirit of God to do it through us, me at least, without any credit for the self in it
Hoping to be clear, only Father can reveal this to us the kids, as I know you are his too

I'm honestly not sure what you are trying to say. It's never my intention to burden others. I try to make a practice of loosening bonds and breaking bands.
