I heard this analogy and really liked it.

During Napoleon's reign, a man had done horrible things and was sentenced to death. The man's mother came to Napoleon and begged for mercy for her son. He refused her request. Again she came, and again he refuse. A third time she came. Finally, Napoleon angrily told her, "Your son does not deserve mercy!" To which the mother tearfully replied, "Then it wouldn't be mercy." Napoleon granted her request.

How often we come before God asking for His mercy, and satan (the accuser of the brethren) tells us we don't deserve mercy?! So, next time say, "Then it wouldn't be mercy!" Praise God for His mercy!!!

Lamentations 3:22 It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
Lamentations 3:23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

When I first read your post I had my guitar out and I thought, I like that "great is thy faithfulness" so I started singing it. For a quick second i thought, "yay! inspiration for a worship song!" (which i've always wanted).

But as soon as I sang it I said, "****, Matt Maher already did it!"

"Your Grace is Enough" by Matt Maher:
Great is your faithfulness, oh God of Jacob,
You wrestle with the sinner's restless heart.

Thought I'd share.

I love this story and these verses. Oh God, may I never think that I could outgrow my need for Your mercy!

You're right about it being inspiring for a worship song. One of my favorite songs to play on the piano is a rendition of "Great is Thy Faithfulness."

Sometimes music is the best way to share with God, as well as others, our love and praise to Him. Don't give up. As long as you continue to have a heart for God, you will have inspiration for a worship song. The best ones are the songs that have been written by a person whose heart is overflowing with God's love and goodness and they have no outlet other than worshipping God in music. It is their testimony of praise to Him.
