Honestly if I was a new believer or just curious about the word of God and walked into a church with someone babbling like a drunken bafoon trying to learn a new language... I'd walk out.

And an interpreter?? How can someone interpreter someone just babbling?? Come on now lol. I always thought tongues ment languages. So if some guy walks in you church speaking chineese he should stay quiet without and interpreter. I'm sorry but I don't believe some guy is understanding and interpreting a bunch of random babbles and chants.

at one church I went to they knew how to speak hebrew and they put their hands on me and began speaking hebrew but there was nothing behind those words it was just words no power no spirit nothing and I was like listen if you are wanting to speak in tongues that is fine it is a gift worth having but just because you can speak another language doesn't mean you can speak in tongues

they didn't know how to respond to that but it sure shut them up

Yes the gift of tongues means you can speak to lots of nationalities about Christ when needed. Letting out spongbob war cries mixed with caveman grunts while jumping up and down is called insanity.

it is actually shocking the lengths people go to be (holy spirit filled) in another thread someone showed me a video of this famous preacher and everyone falling down over each other and him laughing like a maniac apparently mimmicking holy spirit laughter which in my opinion is a bunch of nonesense and I couldn't even finnish the video it was just to disturbing.

the gift of tongues is a vastly misunderstood gift and it isn't one you can just practice you have to be given the gift and when you are given it there is actual power in it I have only experienced it a few times but if it is the real thing it leaves you in a state of awe

but the gift is not for just speaking there has to be a reason for it you cannot just start speaking and suddenly you operate in the gift and it does mean languages not random gibberish but most often it is not a single language spoken but several of them, yet people just think if you speak in hebrew your operating in the gift

Thats what it meant during Pentecost. Now the Pentecostals say its sometimes a prayer language and sometimes used for prophesy and interpreters are used for translation.

It would seem to me in the case of prophecy the Lord wouldn't want it to come out in the form of random chants and noises that need a special translator. I would think it would come out in the language that the people who are hearing it would understand. The prophets in the Bible like Jonah or Daniel ect ect didn't grunt and babble they spoke in the language that the people could understand. Without a special interpreter.

It makes me wonder if some on here come here just to argue and debate, granted I like a good debate but if it is not done in a respectful manner then what is the point?
not to mention how many minds have been changed in these debates I haven't seen any and this is the issue with many churches as well everyone is set in their understanding and doctrines not a one seems to want to unify the body and those who do are seen as uneducated or just plain in error to put it lightly

and you know this site is considered to be a kind of church so we should act like one a loving one I go on reddit and it is even worse there politics are a major issue there but I like to go on there to help people there is a surprising amount of confused and hurting people on that site.
Actually, I have changed some of my thinking because of discussion on CC and have mentioned a few times that I made changes or additions to the website accordingly.

Currently I am studying the Holy Spirit following the lead of BF and the epistle to the Ephesians following the lead of PT.

Look at post #207 on The HS and Salvation thread or at Lesson 3 on <truthseekersfellowship.com>
which I now call our website because I invite everyone to submit content for me to consider adding at an appropriate place.

(I wanted to add a lesson regarding the HS, because lesson 1 is mainly about God as creator
and lesson 2 is mainly about God as savior, so a lesson on God as sanctifier was needed.)
