'Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin...' Zechariah 4:10

Does this sound familiar? God, I'm trying to do the best thing all the time and stand up for what's right - like not picking on 'No-Mates Milly, and sticking up for her instead. Not that it seems to make any difference - I just get talked about 'cos apparently I'm only doing it because I fancy her and want to make some mini Millys! I'm trying to do what you say is right, but it all goes as flat as a dead tyre. God, believe me, I want to put my hope in you and soar on wings like eagles, but quite frankly, right now, I feel like I'm flapping like a finch!

Trying to make a difference for one person can seem like more hassle than it's worth. But living by God's Word does make a difference: 'Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see' (Hebrews 11:1 NLT). We all know - or have been ourselves - a 'No Mates Milly', and we know that having even one person stand up for you really helps. Who you follow, how you act and what you say can give God the room to change situations, circumstances, and even lives.

It can feel like you're making no difference, like you're flapping like a finch following Jesus - but it's better than following a crowd like a sheep. Finches definitely have a better view! ucb

nice phil.

i see God working this way continually.
"Milly" just seems to be right there, on that day......
"Milly" waves back now, and is happy to go in out of the cold for bit and have a coffee and muffin. she knows she'll get a ride wherever she's going, and she likes to talk about before she ended up this way. that 'grandma' used to take her the anglican church when she was little....ya: she misses it.

"take care Milly"! see you next time! seek the Lord, just like we talked about!:)
