As I am sure you may be aware easter is on it's way and families are getting ready for it, now I won't get into the origins of easter as I am sure that we have seen plenty of those threads from last year and may very well see plenty this year as well. No I wanted to make a thread on my thoughts about the holiday and also to make a thread that talks about the resurrection as well. I personally don't like the idea and reality that easter was never about Jesus it was always about a glorified bunny who even though rabbits don't lay eggs and certainly don't go around hiding them.

The holiday is supposed to be for all intended purposes about the resurrection of Jesus Christ, now this is something often spoken about and when spoken about it is spoken about casually but make no mistake back then this was spoken about with great reverence it was an awe inspiring act of God and was seen as the greatest moment in history by other believers.
In fact many believers were taught the resurrection in many of the teachings they were taught because of how big of a deal it was. It spoke volume it was profound it was unbelievable and yet it had happened and for all who believed in it and in the death and sacrifice of Jesus Christ they were also promised that same resurrection

But think about it since then how often do you hear of the dead coming back from the grave? how profound would it be to see a dead man or women suddenly just pop back to life in the middle of the day like that? most would crap themselves or run away screaming some might call it an act of God but it would be profound either way and would be spoken of in a non casual way. But you know what about resurrection of the spirit? you know when we have kindled our flame witha renewed stength and zeal for God? sometimes we lose sight of our original path and we lose that fire and passion we become casual in our walk complacent or lacking any kind of hunger or thirst for God we in essense become lukewarm even if only for a season, it is easy to fall into this state as well with all the distractions we have with life family struggles stress ect. I understand of course the term resurrection of the spirit is not the accurate term but seeing as we are entering resurrection sunday or easter it seemed fittiing.

Now to speak of the part I was not really looking forwards to, the resurrection concerining the first resurrection spoken of in scripture where the dead in Christ will rise and those who are alive remaining being met in the clouds with them. This resurrection is in particular a complicated one as it does not simply fit into a mere resurrection but is tied into an entire doctrine in general however the fact remains it is a resurrection and will happen as promised. when it does I am sure it will be a shock to many some may be to chocked to say anything some may run in fear some may call it an act of God but just as Jesus before us those in Christ will be resurrected and death will hold no power over them.

The question is why is it so important that they be resurrected? why does resurrection hold such significance? Jesus said it best in these words I am the truth the way and the life. just these words alone is why. He proves he is all three of these things in the resurrection of both himself and us, in doing so he shows that he hold the keys to life and that death is but a pitiful weak player this game of chess that the enemy thinks he can win. in these things we can be sure of that death has no power what so ever death is merely a nap or sleep if you wil. that bunny can hide eggs my Lord can raise the dead.

The question is why is it so important that they be resurrected?
Death is "the enemy" of all living creatures, including those who are saved, and it is called "the last enemy". Resurrection means that (1) the power of death over the believer has been destroyed, and (2) the salvation of the believer -- body, soul, and spirit -- has been completed. All the saints will live with Christ in an eternal state of perfection and resemble Him (1 John 3:1-3).

Thus the Resurrection/Rapture (one event for all intents and purposes) is the culmination of salvation -- the glorification of the saints (Rom 8:17,30). Resurrection is discussed in detail in 1 Corinthians 15, and elsewhere we are told that Christ will change our "vile" (corruptible) bodies into the likeness of His glorious body (Phil 3:21). Which means that the saints will literally radiate light, and are therefore called "children of Light" (John 12:36; Eph 5:8; 1 Thess 5:5).

If all of this had not been revealed in the Bible, it would be pure fantasy. But it is in fact sober and solemn truth. Which means that God expects His children on earth to live as "children of Light" -- denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, and living soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world (Tit 2:11,12).
