So there is a lot of crazy stuff out there about Mormons. The truth is that most of it is not true and part of it is misunderstood. Some Christians feel utter contempt towards the Mormons. Others, just think the mormons are non-christian crazy folks. Well, I am a Mormon. Preferably, I like to be referred to as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but a Mormon is okay too. I call myself a christian, but it true that I do not believe in the "trinity," but I do believe in Jesus Christ. I also believe He is a God. He is my God. I do not believe he was created (a huge myth about the mormons). I strive to follow His teachings and love Him. I also want to make the world a better place by following His example: treating others kindly and respecting others' beliefs. I believe christians, not matter the details of their beliefs, can band together to fight the evils of this world. This banding together however has to start with an attempt to understand what is important to each individual, focusing on common ground, and respect each other, despite differences.

So my purpose on this thread is answer and discuss civilized questions about mormonism the best I can in hopes to, if nothing else, express my love for my Savior Jesus Christ and to gain respect as a christian here on christianchat.com. If you fell utter contempt for mormonism, this is not the place to express it...please, please, please x a hundred. ;) If you feel it is your duty to call me to some kind of repentance or sway me in my beliefs...know now that if I turned my back on what I believe, I would become atheist...so its not a good idea and not possible. However, if you really want to know about me or my religion or something crazy you have heard about mormonism, ask away. Thank you.

IF you are a Mormon you are NOT a Christian. Biblical Christians believe that JESUS IS GOD. Mormons to not and so are not Christian. Therefore, you are NOT saved because those that are saved Believe that Jesus is God incarnate. Mormons believe in a different Jesus...not the one from the Bible, but an impostor that is supposedly the spiritual brother of Satan.
You can cry "I'm Christian" all you want, but you did not even know what it means to be saved according to the Bible...which, BTW...was written by men inspired of the Holy Spirit CENTURIES before Smith came along. Do you think so little of the Creator as to think that He would give His children a book filled with error? It is not filled with error at all. Only the ignorant and proud...too proud to truly study the Bible, claim it has any error. On the other hand, the Book of Mormon and been revised and revised and revised to correct over 3000 errors.
God loves Mormons! This is true. But the devil has deceived them and they will not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven without repentance and the learning of His Holy Word: the BIBLE...and the BIBLE ONLY.
In both the OT and the NT we are told to NOT ADD TO THIS BOOK. And Mormons are snowed into believing that their faulty rendition of 'scripture' is OK to add. It it NOT.

BTW...if you came here to tout your erroneous beliefs, you came to the wrong place.
If you came here to learn God's truths according to His written word, the Bible, Then, Welcome.

I would love to learn more about God's Word, but why would I ask Mormons about His Truth? Yes, I realise there are many different kinds of Mormons and some beliefs are closer to the Truth than others but Mormonism contains many non-biblical beliefs. For one, why believe the words of a known conman (Joseph Smith) over Moses, the prophets and apostles etc. who wrote the Bible via the Holy Spirit?

I believe in God, the eternal Father, His son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. All three make up the Godhead. Many other Christian churches believe this as well.

I stated my purpose and it does not include touting whatsoever. All who are part of Christianchat, have to admit that there are many many beliefs that come from the bible. I am no different. I believe in the bible and I love it. Study it daily. My interpretation might be different than yours, but I am sure we both try to follow the example of Jesus Christ.

This isn't a question. :)But I would like to reaffirm, that I claim to be christian, whether you think I am or not. I believe that Jesus is God. Also the Father and the Holy Ghost are God. The three make up the Godhead. I believe that through faith in Jesus Christ we can be saved. I that Jesus Christ died for me and all men. He loves us. He also was resurrected. I love the New testament and the Old testament just like you. The book of Mormon pointed me to believing in God and in the bible. I do believe the Book of Mormon is the word of God and we can agree to disagree on that.

Tintin,
Then let us talk about the bible. That is something we have in common and both love. I do believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet. I also believe Moses was a prophet. I love the words of the apostles in the bible. I especially love the account of the Saviors life. It is precious to me. I love the bible. My interpretation of the bible might be different than yours, but we can still be christians together in the sense that we try to be kind to each other and support each other in doing good.

So how many gods do Mormons have?[/QUOTE

The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe there is one God. But we believe that in saying "one" God, this includes three separate beings: God, the eternal father, Jesus, his son, and the Holy Ghost. They are one in purpose. We worship our God and only our God. The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has NEVER claimed to believe anything but this. All other said "claims" are myths and simply not true.

I really don’t know much about the Mormons believes. I do know that Jesus expect me to respect everyone and love Mormons as he did when he encounter with anyone in his path in this earth.

One thing I am glad is that you also love Jesus, and tries to follow him. Please know you are loved and respected by me who is also a Christian, and as a Christian they are also many of us that have many different points of views in many things in the bible; this is why there are somany denominations, but I believe God is more interested in our hearts than in our differences.

Also…has God appointed us to become judge and decide who is save or who is not saved? Are we God? ...because according to my bible. only God knows who will be save and who will not.

Take care my brother and God bless.

I have a question, do you believe in baptizing for the dead in proxy? That God took away the priesthood after the twelve apostles died? And that there is something like three levels of heaven?
Sorry, thats three questions lol

So do you believe that Jesus Christ was created? 1still_waters has a post (below) showing what answer he received from the official Mormon Chat. It seems dishonest to me, if on one hand you claim Jesus is God, and on the other, that He was created. Or do not all Mormons believe this?

I just went to the official ask a mormon chat room, and the missionary said he is created.

I'm glad you have a respect for the Bible. What I would ask is this: How do you think you will have eternal life? What do you think you have to do to get to the highest heaven of the celestial kingdom? It's my understanding that you have to have faith, repentance, be baptized by one holding the priesthood, have hands laid on you to have the priesthood, be married in the Mormon temple, do temple work, attend church regularly and tithe of all you have. Am I forgetting anything? Only by this will you attain the highest heaven of the celestial kingdom and be with God.

In my opinion this is different from Jesus who says, "He who believes has eternal life." John 6:47

This is for males, since you're female, you have to have your husband who has the priesthood call your name also before you can get there.

In my opinion this is different from Jesus who says, "He who believes has eternal life." John 6:47

Also, please don't take this as an attack on you personally, though I know it could feel that way.

Hi Getalong, welcome:),.

Let's begin with the Pearl of Great Price, the Book of Moses. Does it say that Satan offered to be the Savior/Redeemer of mankind in
Moses 4:1? Is there any Biblical basis for this? Thx.

Moses 4*
Moses 4:1 And I, the Lord God, spake unto Moses, saying: That Satan, whom thou hast commanded in the name of mine Only Begotten, is the same which was from the beginning, and he came before me, saying—Behold, here am I, send me, I will be thy son, and I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it; wherefore give me thine honor.

Is it true that the Elders have to wear a special white undergarment?
