v.27, made man, after His image, male & female He created them
this could be interpreted in two ways:
  1. that on day 6 both Adam & Woman ((later renamed Eve)) were created
  2. that Adam was created on day 6, and the comment '..and female' is parenthetically affirming that God made both the male and the female human -- not just one & not the other
if both Adam & Woman were made on day 6, then all of Genesis 2:7-32 takes place in the middle of Genesis 1:27
i.e. Adam names every living soul on earth in a single day ?? long day, erm, "
yom"

however does Genesis 2:1-6 indicate that planting Eden, taking Adam and placing him in the garden, bringing all the living souls to him to name, and then creating Woman -- is it indicated that all this takes place either on or after the 7th day?

hmmmm

The Adam that was wholly Spirit - driven is incapable of sinning. If you notice in the garden of Eden, before Eve was made, Adam had a perfect relationship with God. Sin entered when Eve, the woman was introduced. The second part of my op shows why this is so.
You made that up.
If you don't get real, nobody is going to respect your view.

The only way "adam could not sin" is for God to make him a robot.

His choice was established /ability to choose ,when God commanded him not to eat of the tree.
To eat/not eat.
The devil has always helped men to sin.

All you are seeing in Adam sinning is his ability to sin.
That is all.
Unless you also can see that FROM THE START man has an obsession with the forbidden.

NOT..."adam could not sin"

Just watch......somehow that dynamic is some foundation for yet another false doctrine[/QUOTE] Are you placing limitations on God's supreme power and nature. I do not agree with you on the robot thing. There is nothing impossible for Him to do.

Yes, his choice was established when God commanded him not to eat of the tree. I agree with you and I know I have not said otherwise. This command and choice came into effect after the separation.

I maintain my earlier stand that the man who was made in God's image and likeness, whom God made male and female and called Adam was incapable of sinning.

also of note:

And God prepareth the man in His image;
in the image of God He prepared him, a male and a female He prepared them.
(Genesis 1:27 YLT)
in a literal translation of this verse, Adam ((the man, him)) is singular.
a male and a female ((
them)) is plural.

so this isn't written as if it's two aspects of a single person, later separated from each other -- it's written as if a male and a female are two distinct individuals. right?

i don't know whether i completely agree with your perspective on this @infinitekhanol but it's a really interesting topic to think about; thanks for making the thread :)

it's OK i have had a busy few months too. the nice thing about a forum vs. a chatroom is that the conversations are still here, waiting to be picked up again. :)

was Woman created on the sixth day?

((in re: Genesis 1:24-31)) --
  • vv.24-25, made the earth bring forth living souls, every beast & creeping thing after its kind
  • v.27, made man, after His image, male & female He created them
  • v.31, saw every thing that He had made, and behold! it was very good
  • v.31, there was evening and morning, the sixth day
For me, when looking at the nature of man from the standpoint of the scripture, I do not think the day he was made has much bearing on his nature, so, I do not pay much attention to it, at least for now. Hence, I cannot answer your question.

tho i may sound like it, i'm not trying to grill you; the topic brings up a thousand questions in my mind and i'm just expressing a couple of them ;)

so it's OK you don't have some ready answer, i mean, who does?? neither of us is everyone's teacher.
but it's part of where my thinking is going while i mull over all these things.

It is really sad that after more than 2000 years our Lord Jesus came, we are yet to grasp the understanding he declared to us and the Cross he carried. Please do not call it cult because you do not understand it. The bible is very clear that it is possible for us to live sinless in this world. It is possible to live in the environment of God here on earth if you understand what God's environment is.
Wow I mean wow

we can live sinless?

i think John never get the memo

if we claim to be without sin WE DECEIVE OURSELVES and there IS NO TRUTH in us.

saying you can be sinless is not just a cult, it a lie

if Adam was “incapable” of sin

1. God was wasting his time putting the forbidden tree there to tempt him, because he could not be tempted
2. Adam never would have sinned
3. we would still have a perfect earth living in a perfect state

Thank you too for maintaining an open mind throughout your discussion and for enlightening me on the likely questions that could come up in discussions of the topic. I appreciate.

Maybe if you compare Genesis 5:1 with what you have tabled above, it might help. I know people use that to refer to Adam as a generic name for mankind. I have a different view. I know the Holy Spirit will always guide us all to all truth if we remain steadfast and sincere. Thanks for chatting with me
