We have recently become acquainted with a couple where the husband is white and the wife is black. She believes that black people are the only “real” Israelites and consequently feels like she is, and should be, the “leader” of our small Bible study group of four people. To my wife and me, color makes no difference because God looks at the heart, but this agenda is being pressed by her, and her husband is going along with it. If we were actually studying and she could lead, that would be different but it is simply reading the passages of scripture listed so that synagogues all over the world are reading the same thing every Saturday.

Granted, Moses had an Ethiopian wife, but the tribe of Levi had problems with that. Many strangers and Egyptian sojourners came out of Egypt with Israel during the exodus, Egypt being in Africa. Black people in this country are now called “African Americans. This is causing problems with mutual edification during our times of reading scripture once a week.

I would like some factual information if anyone can help out, as to the truth of her beliefs.
Having read all the other post along with this post, the solution is quite simple.

You said you were a group of 4. Two are considered a group. They would not be invited back and told as much. No explanation has to be given and nor would be given. simple.... Find someone else who could benefit from a small bible study instead of someone who is looking of recognition of any type including this type.

Good luck & may God be with you as you make difficult decisions on this matter.

If you go back far enough, we all came from Noah's family- who all came from Adam and Eve. Therefore, all people on earth can trace back their roots to be Israelite. God commanded Adam and Eve to fill the world with people, which they did. When the earth was filled, over time those who lived closer to the equator became darker-skinned. Likewise, those furthest from the equator become lighter-skinned with lighter hair.

Egypt is at the top of Africa- which is close to the lands where Bible characters lived. They may have had a slight tan-tint to their skin, but the color of Israelite's skin has not changed for those whose families have lived in the same area since the Bible days. King David was Rudy- which means dark. But the Bible says he was darkened by the sun (he had a suntan from being outdoors all the time watching sheep.

But even though we all came from Adam and Eve, we have developed into many nations. Now physically speaking, an African is not an Israelite, because the distance to the equator does not consider land boundaries placed by mankind. Someone in Egypt is going to be much lighter than someone from South Africa- even though by man's terms it is the same continent. An African is not any more Israelite than let's say a Chinese person.

But, having said all that, God no longer goes by physical Israelites, but by spiritual Israelites- which are "Whosoever will" from any nationality. God does not practice favoritism (Col 3:25). Therefore, Israelite or not, she is not to be treated more highly than another.

Love is colour blind and those vessels of which ever skin that exalt themselves in such ways seem to be of flesh than Spirit.

Those that exalt themselves based on their vessel seem deceived and seeking to exalt rather than Be One in Christ. Just my opinion.

I think most would trace back to Israel but know that it is about Christ and Heavenly Father in Spirit and Truth.

Black Africans are descendants of Ham.
Israelites are descendants of Shem.
Case closed.

Sorry, only Canadian! Although, he did win 3 Grey Cup rings! One son also played pro hockey, including one NHL exhibition game. He is a coach now! Another son played major junior, but took his WHL scholarship and used it to complete a business degree and become a Chartered Accountant.

So, it runs in the family, but must have skipped a generation! LOL
CFL = NFL-lite, or better, a minor league that those not good enough to play in the NFL go to play football. :p

110 yard fields?

You have to punt on 3rd down?

Only Canadians can come up with such kooky ideas. :p

J/K my Sister.

I know you poor Americans have that tiny field and end zone, but I never understood why you wanted to turn football into fooseball!

My dad was Canadian, didn't want to go to the US for many reasons, especially that Canada was his home. I will say, you do have a point about the quality of the league, although it is more exciting watching players do something quickly, instead of getting chance after chance to make that silly 10 yards! But he liked American football, as do my sons. And you can't deny the NFL has great players!

I know football well, perhaps better than any sport, after listening to my dad explain things and call out Canadian announcers for their mistakes. But, after following my sons in hockey, I find it to be a much more exciting, creative and intricate sport than football! And hard hitting!

Of course, I really do like figure skating best. My boys say it is not a sport, but my daughter, (who competed up to provincial level, then switched to coaching) and I know figure skating is the best!

PS We lived in ice rinks full time, when my kids were growing up. Starting at 4 am, and sometimes ending after midnight!

Was the Title of your Thread intended to provoke interest, and thus get folks to read your comment?

NEGRO? Seriously?

That is kinda lame dude........especially given that in the body of your comment you use "black" and NOT "negro." Clearly you knew what you were doing.......

So, from what I gather the OP meets on Saturdays for their "bible study"? There are four of them that meet? So the OP and his wife and this other couple? And they're at a dilemma as to whether this woman should read Scripture? This is some "church" started by the OP and his wife? Asking...

This is some kind of "church" or just a "bible study"? What is this, some SDA thing or what?

BTW, using the term negro is totally inappropriate.

An elderly lady once referred to a man as coloured and was labelled a racist.. the elderly lady thought it was politer to say coloured than black after becoming custom to the way to describe an observation. Now I think we need to discern and not accuse one and other.

Im often mocked for being too white but not offended or think others are racist. We are all the same with different appearances.. none any more or less than each other.. just different types of vessels to abide in.

Is this a Christian bible study? Or a Jewish one? If Christian, the Bible is clear!

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female—for all of you are one in Christ Jesus." Gal 3:28

"
Here there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all and in all." Col 3:11

Quite clearly, if we are talking Christianity, this woman is a false teacher. Would you let someone who is a false teacher lead your Bible study? In fact, would you let someone stay who is trying to take over your Bible study? I would give her the option to be quiet about her fake "superiority" and then ask them to leave if she dies not stay quiet on this issue. Feel free to use the above Scriptures!

I've always been colour blind with regards to race. My dad played pro football, and we always had people from other races as friends, including Chinese, black and Caucasian. As a Christian, we have close friends from many ethnic backgrounds, including Chinese, black, Caucasian etc! But, the corollary that comes out of not discriminating against someone because of culture of colour, is that you do not discriminate FOR certain races, either! We certainly should not see colour as Christians, nor even as a general principle for ethical relationships between other human beings.

Howver, if this is a Jewish bible study, contact Jewish scholars to see their thoughts. And if this is a Hebrew roots Bible study, you are entering into heresy from the start!

I'm reading my KJV - we are in Deuteronomy. I agree totally with your point. One other thing about this woman and her husband that we are associating with, are cemented in a Calvinistic theology, saying that God predetermines who He will pull into His kingdom, and who He will push into hell. Nevertheless, they say they have no idea about Calvinistic doctrine. In other words, if you are God's chosen people, your ticket is punched, and there is no way that you can ever be excluded from the promise covenant as an Israelite. Strange, to say the least.
