I believe I stand alone in my views about this, but I also believe people are missing the point also.......

FRIEND(S)..........................BEST FRIENDS(S)................. are what is being discussed yes?

Let me try it this way..............Who did Jesus surround Himself with during His ministry? Now, it is certainly true that He went to the "lost," "unbelievers," for that is why He came, but WHO did He SURROUND HIMSELF WITH on a daily/nightly basis?

Think hard............ok, not that hard........ :)

Is Jesus NOT to be OUR example?
Jesus did whatever Father said period, and are we not to be led by Father here and now being born again, to go wherever the Father tells you.
I remember being led to a bar and going in and sitting down, I am an ex-alcoholic. Ordered a drink, not alcohol. Anyway another person came in and sat down next to me, and ordered a drink, started a conversation, and I heard him say how he had been dry for many years, that his Dad died and so he tied one on last night.
I to this day do not know what was said to him through me from God to him.
But I know this right after I left, which I was no there long at all, I got in my truck looking up and saw him fleeing from there, and knew whatever he was told, he saw truth and walked away from it. Now this is the power of God
Ready in season and out of season to be used by God, wherever you are at. The Lord leads as Greennice so well puts it.
Thanks for listening.

Ok, one final comment, and then I will let it be..........remember, this IS JUST ME. When I have questions, my first response is to think about what I believe, and that most often is imperfect for sure. Then I realize that I must trust in the Word of God to guide me through His indwelling Holy Spirit.......and I turn to His Word for guidance. Now, His Word will not always agree with my earthy thoughts, but then, my earthy thoughts are most often wrong...........So let us just turn to His Word for guidance in this matter.......And REMEMBER, I am speaking for ME, not for others here. What I would/would not do........and not saying that others MUST do as I do........never would say that.

For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 .) Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
7 .) Be not ye therefore partakers with them. 8 .) For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: 9 .) But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. 14 .) But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. 12 .) For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
13 .) But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. 10 .) And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 .)Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 .) And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

2[SUP]nd[/SUP] Timothy 3:12) Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 13 .) But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 14 .) But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of,knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 .) And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 .) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 .) That has done a good job in keeping the word out of the highways and bi-ways,
[h=3]1 John 3[/h]Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

3 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. [SUP]2 [/SUP]Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

We are made pure by the death of the son:

Religious titles (or lack of) don't always guarantee that a person is a good or bad person.

Yep anyone that preaches is either a professor or a possessor. I do not decide who is who, I just trust Father to do the leading, and if or whenever I step off track, I know Father will straighten me out, and cause me to stand, So by this I do not judge anyone else, just weight the evidence and ask Father.
Romans 14:4 Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

it is indeed ok to have good friends that are non-Christians. as Christians, we are called to go an tell the good news of Christ to the world, we are also called to be the salt f the earth an light of the world. i believe that if we walk circumspect as ambassadors for Christ then our unsaved friends may come to Christ through the examples that we are making. if they don't come to Christ then on the day of judgement, the lives we lived would be a testimony against such person. in the days of Christ, he sat and ate with the gentiles and so in following his footsteps, we are to be able to have non-christian friends but do so with wisdom: we cannot allow them to have an impact on us instead we should be impacting them so that they can be drawn to God.
If God lives though us as he did through Christ at Christ's free will, then God will make an impact on those others. I remember many cases where God told what needed to be heard by the other that did not believe and came to belief, only by me, you and anyone that believes God can do this if as Greennice states it God leads

( :) that's a foul! I already said I would move on from this thread......as folks seemed to not understand my comments.....and I must be true to my words.........so, God bless)

QUOTE FROM ME: Ok, one final comment, and then I will let it be..........remember, this IS JUST ME.
Sorry you took offense to what is said about self-righteousness. Did not mean any harm, sorry to strike a chord in you. Not meant that way. Just what I have seen and experienced in the self righteousness crowd, been there done that. Was in a Church that ridiculed me for going to a bar. I know what the truth of the matter is in this. I speak up and most places do not like that, so I go no more, and here I am listening and posting, being helped and prayerfully helping as well

People seem to be more concerned in how they act and look over truth. Was that way with me for years, until God showed me different.
No man can hold two faces one to the public and the other to himself, without eventually coming to need to know which is true, and thus have the chance to be real to God, Letting God change them, and thus speak truth in God's type of Love

Hi looking 2

You cant think yourself better or higher because my friend you are not. Only your beliefs are different.

If your faith is strong enough you can be with anybody, if you think you could be led astray then your faith was never strong in the first place.

It depends on your guidelines I have mine I do not step out of them. And try not to put myself in a position with people who would perhaps like to entice me.

IE: I do not drink, and would not like people trying to force it on me, or someone putting it in, whatever I am having. I stay away from pubs and clubs. My husband likes a drink, it is not my place to stop him. One rule stay under the limit. And drink at home if you must.

My husband and children have different views to me on their beliefs. But it is not really discussed it is not important it does not impact on how we live. If my husband was say an SDA I would make sure he got the food that they eat. I would have no problem in him going to church etc. Just do not expect me to do it. None of us actually have religious beliefs. But we do not believe in the same things.

The biggest problem I see in this is when one person tries ( and have seen it in a couple posts) to save the other. if someone wants to learn believe me they will ask.

We have Muslim Catholic Satanist and Atheist friends and I cannot forget my SDA and JW friends. And yes I pull their chains too lol.

What I really think is wrong though is when a person changes their beliefs for the purpose of marriage. Say a Hindu turning Catholic for the sake of their partner. That shows a disloyal personality to me and one never well grounded in the first place. This seems to occur a fair bit in marriages that mean financial gain or prestige.

And yes Jesus ate with anybody and was born in a stable amongst animals so where does that put us on the queens prestige list lol. ( I am awaiting my invitation to the royal garden party)

Nobody needs a Christian badge to tell people they are good. I find that a lot too.

Ok off to annoy some more Christians lol who shall be benefiting from my pearls of wisdom

Hi homward

Why on earth would it give you such pleasure to testify that you tried to save somebody and they would not listen, when the day of reckoning comes. I have heard people say on the day of Judgement we will sit with God and watch sinners burn.

As bible says God gave us freedom of choice. So why go against him to try and take away the right to believe in what we wish too?

Those who "witness" are in NO WAY going against Jesus by doing so, rather they are obeying His commandment........geessshhh.......

Matthew 28:18) And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 .) Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 .) Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

People certainly choose to believe and receive eternal life, or remain living in unbelief and receive eternal damnation............BUT the joy of witnessing comes from within. From being OBEDIENT to the Commandment of Jesus Christ...........not from seeing one who is lost reject the Gospel.

The problem is with discernment........an unbeliever will never understand the Truths written in the Holy Bible, the Gospel of Jesus Christ............to an unbeliever it is nothing more than foolishness.......or, at least, that's what the Apostle Paul said.

Understanding comes AFTER Grace........and salvation, through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit......unbelievers are blinded by their unbelief........just saying.

Another to consider for you hootowl:

Mark 16:15) And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 .) He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

God bless you all, and remember this is just how I must respond.......I could not have a best friend why denied Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour.

His Spirit better be so rockin' in you that you are NOT phased by the things of non-Christian best friends, 'course, as Cobe mentioned 'stripshows,' my best friends don't do that stuff , as I said before, they are a model family, my best friend I've known since age 5 and then he got married to his wife when he was 25 and then they told me something that PROVED to me God was at work through my friendship with them. :)

When God said, 'no kids,' through a doctor, I was told this by my best friend's wife.....

Are you listening??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????/

I was leaving there house late one night, and, by the way, I'm single and have even been flirted with by his wife BUT God has kept me, he has shown me Him and His power will KEEP me strong. This goes for MANY girls that I liked that were non-Christian. God KEPT me safe :)

Anyway, and, I don't mean to judge anyone, the Lord leads :) But, yes, his wife, who is a great lady, and, the reason she flirted with me was because my best friend was not being nice to her, as I saw it, and, I've, MANY TIMES, addressed my best friend and let him know when he's not quite being perfectly NICE to his wife. I've also spilled my heart about Jesus and my beliefs and how he and I really grew up doing things that are just not what I want to do anymore, of sneaking into 'R' rated movies, etc. I will leave it at that , the Lord leads, which, incidentally, is a phrase I say to most anyone, including my best friends about God: The Lord leads.

best friend's wife: "We have been trying to have a baby and we've found out from the doctor now that we are not going to be able to have kid's. I can't have them."

This HIT me like a ton of bricks !
Me: "Oh, I am so sorry, ________ , I will be praying for you, that His will be done, that something happens. The power of God is great."

This was back in 1999 so that is why 'The Lord leads' is not in that quote , by the way :D I'm serious too :)

But, I hope and PRAY that you all TAKE your non-Christian friends seriously, as I take that the Lord has been using me ALL the time in my friends that do not go to church on Sunday, do not REALLY speak of the Lord. The wife is more spiritually speaking than her husband and she speaks of God, my friend went to church with his mom and dad back when he was 6 years old, but did not continue very long. Not sure why.

------------------
I thank you all for what you've heartfelt, and, in many cases, passionately said in this thread, I hope and pray that al lof you take God seriously, and, realize that His ways are not our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts and the power of God unto salvation is REAL and we are on this Earth to follow Him for our lives, however He leads.

Don't be jealous of those being able to be in best friends lives who are non-Christian, because YOU are right, I am IMMERSED in worldly things by being with them as best friends, but, I AM also seeing God's mighty hand moving through my times seeing them and IF He was seen as taking me away from my best friends I would leave, no doubt. The Lord... :)

Oh, you've been with me ALL this time reading my post, well, God bless you for it, and, He is about to IF you want to believe with the faith that He's given you what I say next: Within A FEW DAYS time, after I told my friend's wife that I would pray for her being able to get pregnant....................... ;)

To be honest I am not saying the Gospel is foolish

If you shift the gold from the dross it makes sense in a lot of ways. But you will find with other religions too it is the same. A lot of good running through them all.

What I am actually talking about are the peoples perceptions of what they are expected to do.

Come on people are taking themselves so seriously.

People like to come in for a chat discuss things etc. You can discuss without having every other sentence saying what will be done to us if we sin.

Ever heard of live and let live?

I know it is Christian Chat but people can still have a laugh and a joke.

A lot of the things put in are all cut and paste it is not your thoughts that is coming out of your heads it is repeating what others have written.

Actually you will find a lot of none Christians are more Christian then those who keep insisting they are with all their cutting and pasting of words they possible do not understand the meaning of anyway.

You will find the truly good people do not scream it all over the place they are known by their deeds.

This is not a dividing of people one day if it is true everyone will be counted does not matter what religion they profess to be.

Have you heard of the story of the "Widows Mite" When all the rich people gathered around and were giving Jesus money etc to prove their worth. And Jesus turned to them and spoke of the poor women who just gave all she had.
That meant more to him than all the rich peoples gifts

So when all of you are shouting his praises and cutting and pasting he is not interested in that.

Think about it and what it really means and is trying to tell you.

Oh yes I know my bible. And I will tell you something if there is a Hell I will not be going There will not be room for me it will be too full of Christians.

Hey I have a poem for you. Yes I am a writer I think this forum can use it. I wrote it.

Here goes hope I can get it all in

BUT

The lord and I we talked one day
And the conversation went this way
Flowers I keep and your church shining bright
I sing your psalms both day and night
With tears in his eyes the Lord answered thus
Last night a little child begged in the dust
I follow with faith in the path that you tread
Your cross casts it's shadow over my head
Said the Lord in the gutter of your street today
A little dog dripped his life blood away
But your picture I place where the whole world can see
I tell all around that I'm following thee
He answered me both in voice sweet and low
About the cripple I did not have time to know
But I've done everything Lord, that I have to do
To earn your love and be worthy of you
The Lord turned to me and agony cried
He told me again of the dog that had died
Could you not have placed, your hand on my head
As I lay in the gutter of your street and bled
You went on your journey no pity to spare
Your passport to heaven a cross and a prayer
As a beggar, a cripple, and animal stray
I stood beside you and walked in your way
As you do unto others so let it be
As with faith in my footsteps you crucify me

You see not all unbelievers are condemned to death
We are just fed up with the hypocrisy that goes with religion
And the people who use it to try to control others with fear.

We know exactly where it is at.
