I have 3 bibles with the purple cross all NRSV my question is why are they using it??? Can anyone use it or is it restricted to celtics? The purple cross is awesome... with the halo 😄

Here's the other side of this cross: "It has often been claimed that Patrick combined the symbol of Christianity with the sun cross to give pagan followers an idea of the importance of the cross. By linking it with the idea of the life-giving properties of the sun, these two ideas were linked to appeal to pagans."

Since I have no interest in the NRSV or any of the modern versions, I have no idea why they would use this Celtic cross.

Do you mean it's a decoration on a leather or imitation leather cover?
You can get them without the cross if it offends. I wouldn't worry about it.

I have a book on layout and drafting methods for artists who want to draw the Celtic cross and related designs. It appears to be very "public domain".

There's also a collection of digital scans from the book online.

Ringed crosses in various forms have been used since the earliest days of Christianity. The Celtic Cross is a distinct form of ringed cross, though it's frequently used and isn't limited to Celts.
