So I noticed people are debating nowadays about being perfect and about the law and the cross. These are three separate things yet like the trinity are one at the same time. Many have different ideas and beliefs about being perfect for instance. some say it cannot be done, others say anything is possible with God and others still like me believe being perfect is possible but not by normal means. People can try to be perfect by being completely obedient to God by following his commandments and obeying the word. which is where the law comes in, however in this case the law is their enemy because no one person can completely obey the law all the time. People argue that by saying Jesus did, so can we. except for one major thing.... Jesus is God we are only mere humans. If in fact we could be perfect by mere obedience then the cross would not be needed. And even people who believe we can be perfect will most likely never say they themselves are perfect, because even people like this are not ignorant enough to claim to be perfect.

People also seem to have the wrong idea about the law as well, people see the law as abolished because Jesus set us free. Some people say the law only condemns us and shows us our sins. But the law is a truly wonderful Gift and Jesus did not come to get rid of the law but to fulfill it. The law blesses us richly by following it, and shows us the fruit of the spirit. However it is how you mean to follow it that decides if it will bless you or curse you. Or perhaps I should say it is your motive of why you follow it that decides if it blesses you or curses you. If we obey it out of fear or condemnation then the law is only going to condemn us. if we follow it out of mere obedience- well this isn't bad but the law cannot do it's full power in you. Now if you follow the law as best you can because you love Jesus and want to please him.... BINGO you got it! Mere obedience is how we followed it before Christ's death, but when he died for us our chains were broken and we were taught to follow it with a different heart. Because we are children of God, so therefore we no longer fear the law or obey it out of fear of God but because we love him and he loves us.

So then what does this have to do with perfection? Everything. we become perfect in God's eyes for several things.#1 because of Christ's blood.#2 because of a love between us and the father and #3 because of our faith in him.
So stop trying to be perfect, because if you have these three things you are already perfect in God's eyes. we do however desire to strive to be perfect don't we? well that again depends on the motive. I strive everyday to be perfect, but not merely to be perfect but to be just like my Jesus. to love as he loves to see as he see's. Do I do this by mere obedience? No, something like this requires much dedication and is done step by step day by day.

So please, do try to follow the law to the best of your ability. But do it out of love. you will sin every now and then but do not condemn yourself for God does not condemn you. be perfect out of love and faith, and no matter how many times you stumble no matter how many times you mess up or fail. Hear God whispering to you saying to stand up and keep walking.

very well put my brother.
IF we sin we have an advocate with the father.
I don't think we should ever have the mindset of WHEN we sin we will have an advocate with the father.
Our mindset towards sin can have a huge effect on our actions.

Hey,Blain it's okay if we seek pleasing God he will be pleased with us,he is always most important. We will never please all people he knows the intent of the heart other people do not.Be in peace that you serve him,and know him.

I believe that faithfully striving to be perfect/righteous/humble, is what's counted as perfection/righteousness/humility.

I agree. as long as you do this with a loving relationship with God.
