I understand what you are saying but a lot of people on this thread who believes in OSAS thinks that we, who don't believe in OSAS, are trying to work for our salvation. That's not the case. We keep repeating ourselves over and over. There is a major difference when someone lives in sin and when someone sins from time to time. For example you are a Christian, you are saved and you have your salvation but somewhere down the road you are tempted and you start fornicating (having sex outside of marriage). This means you are living in sin. Which means if you don't STOP fornicating and repent of that sin then you could die in your sins and be cast into external damnation. That's all we are really trying to point out. There are not just a few people in this world thinking they are ok with God, but a whole lot them, who continues to live a sinful lifestyle. Most people thinks its ok to do what they want to because God is a just and merciful God. Which he is. But he also means what he says. Also people are saying that if you are living a sinful lifestyle then you was never saved in the first place. False! I know for a fact several years ago I was saved and I wasn't living in sin. I was doing everything I was suppose to be doing as a Christian. But I believe people underestimate the devil. Because he knows our weaknesses. And he knew mines. And before you knew it I was living in sin. I gave up my free gift of salvation and I started to play on the devil team. But through God's grace and mercy I repented of my sins and I'm a faithful Christian. Being a Christian may not always be easy and we will be tempted always to go against God's word but if we continue to abide in God's word and go to church and fellowship and etc. we will go to heaven. And the reward is so much worth it in the end. I'm pretty sure there are Christians who when they got baptized they remained faithful. But a lot of us have fallen but have eventually picked ourselves back up again, repented of sins, turned away from those sins, and are now obeying God's word.
Matthew 5:43-45

43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

So that we may be THE CHILDREN OF OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN, who makes His sun to rise ON THE EVIL AND THE GOOD, and sends the rain ON THE JUST AND THE UNJUST, we are to BLESS OUR ENEMY.

Can ANY man take away these gifts of the ETERNAL? Then why believe that this most HOLY GIFT OF SALVATION is any less binding as to what we come to understand by nature?

It is God who makes both the clean vessels (you) and unclean vessels (your enemy) BOTH for His purpose.

In ref to the underlined partPsa_51:11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Why would David ask him not to take it from him? Even Soul had it took from him.

2:19 1Jn 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

This is talking about the false teachers and their following that went out from them. Never were with them in their heart from the start. Verse 22 says they denied Christ so they were the they where liars. This could be compared to A business man that only comes to your church to gain your trust in what he is selling but cares nothing for you. This is not the same as someone that really believes in Christ but in time of temptation falls away Luk 8:13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
I must disagree.

1. In the time of temptation they fell because they had mere belief, not faith. since they did not have faith (which saves) they fell away, because beliefis not enough.

as for antichrist. this is anyone who deny's Christ. one who would "fall away" would be one who deny's Christ. It is not just a false teacher. it is anyone who denys the lord who offered ot save them.

Luk 8:13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

Rom_10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. How can you say they had no faith when faith comes by the word?

You would have to assume they had faith. many people here and believe but do not have faith.

who is the root? the root is Chirst., it says they have no root, the root is missing, which means Christ is missing

I am responding to the title: Once saved, always saved! Does the New Testament support this?

There are bigger questions. For instance, "Are there people in my community/world needing saved?"
"What am I doing to help those who are or are not saved?" "Is it my team, the opposing team, fans, or even a coach who makes these calls?" Answer: It is the Perfect Judge's call.

In the future, perhaps, I will write more on my views.
What matters is God's view of things.

Prayer: "Lord, thank you for caring enough to save others in the first place. Amen."

Col 2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
Col 2:7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

See he told them "so walk in him".

We all can receive Christ witch is grace Jesus died for everyone. But some give up. Their faith was dead with no works Jas_2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. See James shows us that we can have faith but verse 22 says "by works the faith was made perfect."

They just where not made perfect.

Col 2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
And? Yes we should walk in him, Does not mean we will, 100 % of the time, we need to be reminded to walk in Christ all the time.

1. James is talking about those who say they were believers, Who were in the church, But were hearers and not doers of the word. He did not say they had faith and their faith died, He said they proclaimed (what good is it if a man says he has faith) to have faith. But they had ZERO works, Can this faith save him? Again, Mere belief will nto save you, even demons believe. One must have true faith to be saved. This is what james was saying.

2. Again, yes we should walk in him, when we do not, we are not in our fathers blessings, and instead are in our fathers chastening, But this does not mean we lose
salvation. James never said this, He said they never had saving faith.

I disagreed, Eternal life is eternal. If it is eternal it can not be lost. Someone who claims to have faith, but walks away, never had faith to begin with, they just had lip service. They did not lose salvation, they never had it.

Bible?

1. We are saved by faith NOT WORKS (eph 2)
2. We are given ETERNAL LIFE when we believe in Christ (John 3 with many other passages)
3. After we hear and have faith, we are sealed with the spirit forever, and he is our guarantee of eternal life (eph 1)
4. I already showed you james, where he is talking to people who were hearers of the word, but nor doers, who had merer belief, but had no faith (their faith was dead) thus they were never saved.
5. The apostle john states those who claim to be part of the church, but now denied Christ and left were never saved, if they had been saved, they never would have left.

I can show you many more, but this should give you the point.

I never said you are saved by works.

Anyways I am about to get off work so I will have to look those up later.
#4 you have to have faith before it is dead. If you have no faith then you are like #5 they only said they had faith but never did believe in Jesus only wanting those who were there to follow them. In other words They lied.

You have to have faith before it is dead? James does not say this at all. He says, what good does it do a man if he claims to have faith but does not have works. His faith is dead. which means has no life. a dead faith is no faith. many people claim to have faith in Christ, but it is all lip service. Your trying to make James say something he is not saying. He can not contradict paul.

And yes. many people do this. they come in wanting us to follow them, but they are not saved themselves. Either way, they did nto lose salvation. If you can lose it, you have to work for it. if you have to work for it it is a gospel of works. Which is a false gospel.

Notice you called it faith then you said its dead.

If I told you that a man is dead then at one point he must of been alive. But your saying there was not man at all. Then how can he be dead if he was never alive? In order to call something dead it must of had life first. Do you see what I mean? Satan had faith at one point but now his faith is dead. That's what James is saying.

I know you told me that, but that is not what james said, he never claimed they were alive, the only thing he claimed is that they said they had faith. And then he followed this with belief, if you do this, you do well, even demons believe. but do demons have faith?

if a man says he has (makes a claim he has faith) but has no work, HIS FAITH is dead. he is a liar in other words.

james even asked if this faith would save them, and his answer was no.

I was spiritual dead. i was born this way, I was never alive until God saved me.

my faith was dead when I was born. Until i learned to trust God, it was still dead. Faith does not have to be alive at one time to make it dead. it just has to be non existant.

It's ok I don't think you see my point but I am ok with that. Stay strong keep growing in faith don't let it die. I hope we can agree that we have to seeking him daily not just one time? Because if we stop seeking our faith will die.

can't agree with this either, if my faith is real, it will never die. it might wander and falter from time to time, but it will never die. We do not come to the point in our life where we see the calamity we are in, which is so sever there is no hope. allow God to rescue us, then jump back in the water again. One who has truely repented would never do this.

only those who do not see the danger they are in completely, who think they can still survive would lack faith and have just mere belief, and they can and do jump back in the water, because they do not see themselves as God sees them/.
