This thread has proven the verity of that which is written in the proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel which saith, only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom. Let us first make sure that we have put on Christ by being buried with him in baptism, wherein also we are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. Arguing about "losing" something you do not have will do you no good. If you are not in Christ, then you shall have your part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Because the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; when he shall come to be glorified in his saints.

And how do we get baptized into Christ? Thus: Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

The time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

One thing on this particular aspect - a big percentage of people simply couldn't afford to "eat, drink..."/ live it up.

With so many posts by so many people over (often) so much time, it's easy sometimes to make errors, so I may be covering a point previously made clear. With that in mind, may I ask - Are you a believer in Calvinism? I thought not, judging by your previous posts, but your last point about God being in complete control in the way you phrased it seems to indicate you're taking the Calvinist stance of monergistic sovereignty, rather than what they call synergism.
John 10: 29 My Father, who gave them to me , is greater than all, and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
Luke 8: 18 ... and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even (that is) that which he seemeth to have.

"Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee."

This is an oft-debated question in Christian circles, but I'd like to bring up a particular situation. Rather than the case of losing salvation through a certain sin or sins, what about when a once-believer loses belief in God/ Jesus - as in - eg - Matt Dillahunty, who was devout Christian and later became an atheist?
Eternal Salvation. The free eternal gift of God by his grace.
Not by anything we do to deserve, earn, or work for.
A free eternal gift from our Father in Heaven.

Isn't it glorious? REJOICE! REJOICE!

1 John 2: 18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.

20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. 21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

22 Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. 23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

we see two groups of people

1. They went out from us (they stopped being with us) and now deny that jesus is the christ (an athiest). these people were never truly of us

2. Those who have been anointed from the holy one.. who knows all things.

you can't lose what you never had.. Just because people are among us does not mean they ever knew christ.

Yep. OSAS. For sure....

Jhn 10:27
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

Jhn 10:28
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Jhn 10:29
My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

Jhn 10:30
I and my Father are one.
