[SUP]when did law used a promise,( mosaic law.)

what law, did cornelius, believe like abraham. that god can raise the dead ie( jesus)

[SUP]
16
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
[/SUP]
8 For if the inheritance is based on law, it is no longer based on a promise; but God has granted it to Abraham by means of a promise.
[/SUP]
[SUP]9 And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's descendants, heirs according to promise.

jew or gentile, believers in jesus.
a law or promise, and if jesus fore filled the law, why rebuild it, when a new covenent, was fore told[SUP]
15 "We are Jews by nature and not sinners from among the Gentiles;16 nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.17 But if, while seeking to be justified in Christ, we ourselves have also been found sinners, is Christ then a minister of sin?

so if your not saved by law, osas, came as promised, through believing in jesus.
john 3. 16

11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. romans 8

7 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. romans 8

It is not cast away, it is disapproved.
And crown refers to reward. There are about 5 crowns mentioned (victor's wreathes) in the NT as rewards to believers. IN this case the crown is a reward for winning a race.

Your post was typical of those who cannot trust Christ as Savior, but think you should downgrade Him to chance-giver. For you quote a verse that does not have "lose" nor "salvation" in it -- and indeed you cannot find one verse in the whole Bible that has both those words.

μή πως ἄλλοις κηρύξας αὐτὸς ἀδόκιμος γένωμαι.

μή πως = lest
ἄλλοις = to others
κηρύξας = having preached
αὐτὸς = myself
ἀδόκιμος = disapproved
γένωμαι = should become

And every man that striveth in the games exerciseth self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. 26 I therefore so run, as not uncertainly; so fight I, as not beating the air: 27 but I buffet my body, and bring it into bondage: lest by any means, after that I have preached to others, I myself should be disapproved.

A crown (stephanos) is a symbolic term for a reward. A stephanos is literally a victor's wreath that an athlete who wins is crowned with. This passage is about rewards which believers get at the Judgment Seat of Christ -- nothing to do with salvation.

You really don't think Paul had heard of any of the following verses:

Jehovah redeems the soul of his servants;
And none of them who take refuge in him shall be condemned.
Ps 52
But as for me, I am like a green olive-tree in the house of God:
I trust in the lovingkindness of God for ever and ever.
I will give thee thanks for ever, because thou hast done it;
1 Thes 5 end:
"And the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved entire, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He Who calls you, Who will also do it.
Col 3
When Christ, who is our life, shall be manifested, then you also with him shall be manifested in glory.
2 Thes 2:16
Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,

End of Rom 8:
And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to his purpose. For whom
he foreknew,
he also foreordained to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren: and whom
he foreordained, them
he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom
he justified, them
he also glorified.

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 3He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also with him freely give us all things? Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth; who is he that condemneth? It is Christ Jesus that died, yea rather, that was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Even as it is written,
For thy sake we are killed all the day long;
We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

< 1 Pet 1
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy begat us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, unto an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who by the power of God are guarded through faith unto a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

THE OVERCOMER
Revelation 3:5
The one who overcomes will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father… 1 John 5:4-5 For whatsoever is begotten of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. And who is he who overcomes the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of the throne saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he shall dwell with them, and they shall be his peoples, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God: and he shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more; neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more: the first things are passed away. And he that sitteth on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he saith, Write: for these words are faithful and true. And he said unto me, They are come to pass. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He who overcomes shall inherit these things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But for the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part shall be in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.

< 2 Tim 4:18
The Lord will deliver me from every evil work, and will save me unto his heavenly kingdom;

Rm 6:23b
the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 6:37
All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.
John 10:28
I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 5:24
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

2 Corinthians 1:22
And who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.
Romans 11:29
For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.
1 John 5:13
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.
Philippians 1:6
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Thou shalt call His name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins.

So you can't bring yourself to believe that?

So, you don't like castaway.? I can see why you don't. Let's try the Greek for the word castaway then. REJECTED, WORTHLESS, REPROBATE. A Cstaway doesn't sound like he's heaven bound to me.

Now what is your proof that repent/repentance is not in the Law of Moses???

Didn't you argue before (or was it someone else) that salvation before Pentecost was different? Like no one had to be water-baptized until the Law ended? So why are you quoting the gospels on salvation if that is the case??? If there was a different way to be saved before the Law ended at the cross, had you not better stop quoting the gospels, like Mat 25?

One thing Mat 25 is not about is salvation. Read and believe verses that use the word salvation and saved. The only repentance that saves is change of mind from disbelief to belief.

There are no good works before salvation. Only saved, born again persons can do good works. They don't save, but are the result of salvation. For by grace you have been saved through faith . . . not of works.

Why can't you believe God's word?

Repentance is not a mosaic law to me, because it is the Lord our Gods command to us.

Gods commands trump all laws, including mosaic. He tells us both in the OT and NT that repentance is necessary.

Show me one verse in Mat 25 that mentions save or salvation or Savior. Showing you some verse like you propose (nonsense) would not interpret Mat 25 for you.

Salvation is what you & I need & must have. We are sinners needing a Savior.
Salvation is the Lord having mercy on wretched sinners who trust Christ as Savior, it is not about judgment (different topic). There is nothing about the Savior saving anyone in Mat 25. Salvation is God in grace changing the sinner to a child of God, a new birth with the gift of eternal life attached.
Now is the Day of Salvation; Salvation never is instigated by some judgment.

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me!

Salvation is for Publicans and sinners, not the righteous. Salvation is for those who acknowledge that all their righteousnesses are as filthy rags. Salvation is for a woman at a well, divorced 4 times, shacking up with a 5th guy. Salvation is for a murderous man heading for Damascus to persecute Christians, for an idolatrous Roman empire jailer. Salvation is for men depraved with the leprosy of sin.

What must I do to be saved?
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ & you shall be saved.

Thou shalt call His name Jesus,
for He shall save His people from their sins.

You will be saved by this Savior from the filth of your sins, or you will never get to Heaven. He does the saving; our part is to trust Him to do it and be the saved, the savee.

Ps 52

Pasa graphē theopneustos. It is all God's word.

But if you postulate that the way of salvation changed at the cross, then you will have to exclude all the teaching of the Lord Jesus on salvation. Of course the theory that the way of salvation changed, is an error. Water baptism never was any way of salvation. It has always been by grace through faith, not of works -- the Lord was not interested in men boasting before or after Christ.

Since faith/belief is the only thing human action required of man over & over in so many texts, one must conclude that the only repentance that saves is changing from unbelief to belief -- not trusting the Savior (adding in works, etc.) to trusting Him as only & sufficient Savior.

Thou shalt call His name Jesus,
for He shall save His people from their sins.

If one group has everlasting punishment it is clear they are not in heaven.
( There is no punishment in Heaven. )

The verses in Matthew 25:31-46 tell why these groups get either eternal life, or everlasting punishment.

Just because the exact words; saved, and salvation are not mention does not mean they don't apply.

You search the scriptures for the exact words and miss the warnings.

I am not here to judge who is carnal or who is a true or false believer...I just quoted the word. The scripture did not say false believers did many wonderful works so true believers must not do any...That is like saying evil men see so I must pluck out my eyes because I am not evil.To say the flesh cannot communicate with spirit is rubbish ...we were only flesh when God spirit spoke to us. We were all Gods enemy before we got saved, in fact He died for us while we were yet sinners.
To say the flesh cannot communicate with spirit is rubbish

Jason, you do not put works on an equal base as faith. They are BOTH required for salvation. Hoffco
Works will prove your faith is genuine to men that need to see physical work,but for salvation GOD looks at the heart and physical work is not needed,only faith in GODs word is needed.

Hebrews 4:12

I don't know what the king Jimmy meant by castaway, but the Greek word is adokimos. Dok- implies approve. a- is the negative (alpha privative) prefix (like in ammoral). The context is clearly an athlete being disqualified in a race, and the context is about the believer's rewards (stephanos, victor's wreath for winning a race).

Alligator, if you want to know about salvation, consult the passages on topic. Salvation is about a Savior saving miserable sinners from their depravity. Salvation is about this loving Savior who died for you on the cross and is ready to deliver you from your wretchedness if only you will trust Him to do it.

Ps 52

12.)For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

God's word is instrumental in salvation, as faith comes by hearing God's word; but the faith is in the Lord Jesus, the Savior for salvation. The Word of God in Heb 4:12 refers to the Lord Jesus, not the scripture.

9 There remaineth therefore a sabbath rest for the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest hath himself also rested from his works, as God did from his. 11 Let us therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, that no man fall after the same example of disobedience. 12 For the Word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

The Bible discerns nothing; it is a book. The Lord Jesus discerns everything, he sees into our joints, our bone marrow, our soul, our spirit, and our heart. His gaze pierces all; it cuts like a sword. His eyes are pictured in Revelation 1 as a flame of fire. He penetrates & purifies. He sees if in our hearts we rest in Him as Savior or are trying to work our self-righteousness.

You don't know how happy I am to finally hear someone say that OSAS is a false doctrine. So many people on here have been attacking me for debunking it. Romans 3:4-God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
Hi Jesus_Loves_You
Someone said that its willful sin or rebellion that makes this kind of thinking wrong,but I would think that if it is willful sin or rebellion that makes this thinking wrong that we are all doomed,because we all willfully sin.

James said that if you broke any part of the law that you have offended it all.

GOD listed gluttony in there with those other big sins.

Isn't gluttony a willful sin?

If you sit down and eat one large meal,you might gain one or two pounds,but in order to become overweight,you would have to overeat habitually.

What about driving 56 miles per hour when the speed limit says 55?
GOD said to obey the law of the land.

So what I am saying is that in order for someone to preach that OSAS is totally wrong would be to look at things from mans traditional way and say that the big sins are wrong but the small sins are ok.

The willful sinner the bible speaks of is one who does it with out remorse, conviction, and feel there is no need to repent of or ask forgiveness of that sin.

That is the willful sinner that will not be saved.

If you know it is wrong, but keep doing it on a regular basis with out letting the Holy Spirit help you to turn from and stop doing that sin. Then you are a willful sinner.

If you allow the Holy Spirit to work in you, and guide you away from your sinful nature. Then you are not a willful sinner.

Matthew 25:46
And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
That is the outcome of the judgment. But that is not how the gentiles who treated Christ's brethren well got saved. They were saved before this judgment and before they did any good works to Christ's brethren. For by grace you have been saved through faith, & that not of yourselves, not of works. But after a man is re-created by God upon faith, that man becomes a doer of good works, as evidence by these gentiles in the Tribulation doing good to Christ's brethren.

If one group has everlasting punishment it is clear they are not in heaven.
( There is no punishment in Heaven. )
But that says nothing about the doctrine of salvation, neither is "salvation" mentioned. Salvation is the loving Savior taking a sinner who has no good works and re-creating Him as a child of God.

The other group gets eternal life.
( The only way to have eternal life is through salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ. )
Thus they had to have been saved before this judgment; but salvation is not in the passage. No one gets saved in the passage. Salvation had to precede any good works these gentiles did. The topic of the passage is not salvation, and the term never occurs, nor the concept. There is no Savior saving anyone from their sin in the passages. And the Lord Jesus has His very name because He saves HIs people from their sins.

The verses in Matthew 25:31-46 tell why these groups get either eternal life, or everlasting punishment.
No, they do not tell why they got eternal life. If they had eternal life, they had it before they got to the judgment. Now is the day of salvation. There is a recognition of who gets eternal life, no directions on how to get eternal life. Over & over scripture tells you how to be saved, how to get eternal life, & that is only by trusting the Lord Jesus as Savior. You are not left to guess & invent things. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, & you shall be saved.

There is no salvation in Mat 25's judgment at all. It is a judgment, not a saving of sinners from their sin.

Search the scriptures for the words saved & salvation, then you can learn what its all about. Salvation is about a Savior who loves your depraved wicked self; He died for you, is willing to save your from your sins and make you a child of God. If you only will trust Him, He will rescue you from your abominable self and any pretended self-righteousness.

Thou shalt call His name Jesus,
for He shall save His people from their sins.

No, it is not about salvation, but judgment.

Salvation is the loving Savior taking the publican who cries, "God be merciful to me a sinner," who trusts the Lord Jesus for deliverance, and saving Him. There is nothing like that at all in Mat 25, nor does that judgment speak of save, Savior, or salvation. It is judgment.

There is Much Garbage Off Topic Here

This thread is supposed to be about being saved, salvation. People are going on & on trying to infer things from passages off topic, where those terms do not occur & where there is no "Savior."

Back on Topic Below:

End of Rom 8:
And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to his purpose. For whom
he foreknew,
he also foreordained to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren: and whom

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

He that overcometh shall inherit these things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But for the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part shall be in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.

Once again it says those call Jesus Lord they are sent to eternal punishment for not doing good for others.

Nobody gets punished in heaven.

So you can determine that they did not get salvation ( eternal life ), if you can not see this I am sorry and pray our Lord will open your eyes.

Not all scriptures in bible that pertain to being saved, or salvation have those two exact words.

Other words used for salvation: eternal life, and crown of life

synonyms for the word salvation: redemption, deliverance, rescue, recovery, escape

To newbirth., You make a statement, then you quote two versesthat prove my position and disproves your statement. Your first verse proves that we will naturally be holy like our Heavenly Father who gave us the new birth, "called us". The 2nd verse says that we are to be Holy because our Father in Heaven is holy. ;Both verse lead to the position of OSAH, once saved always holy. The only exception is the backsliding Christian, whom the Father kills, so they are not condemned with the world. Thanks for helping to prove my position. Love Hoffco
You are free to twist the word to suit yourself I can't stop that...if someone says to you, be good, it does not mean you are good it implies you have the power to be good...So when God says to you, be Holy he is telling you to continue in him he gave you power to do that. If you are always Holy there is no need to tell you be Holy in all your conversation. What makes your position foolishness, is your admission of the backsliding Christian...if is always Holy he cannot backslide... proving your OSAH or whatever is rubbish. Once saved you are commanded abide in Christ. God gave you power to become a son not a robot..

This is what he means by be Holy.......

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.

John 4:24

king james version(kjv)

24.) God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Do you have a flesh body? Well it now belongs to God...

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
